Perfect house shoe. I have fallen arches, occasional knee and back pain, so I need support all the time. The arch support is firm and on par with Birkenstock (without the toe ridge). I keep these by the door and change into them as soon as I get home. They're the only shoes I'll wear in the house. I even wear them when I have company over. The soles don't mark my floors. The wool may seem like something you'd only consider wearing in the winter, but they don't make my feet hot in summer (I do keep socks on to keep the inside clean). They're great year round.

I have been wearing Haflinger slippers for years and love them, but I recently developed plantar fasciitis and needed more support. I bought a pair of Giessweins and so far they have been just what I was looking for. Two things to consider: In Haflinger and other European shoes, I wear a size 37. I had read reviews that these run small, so I ordered a 39 and they fit perfectly. The other problem is that they have rubber soles unlike my felted sole Hanglingers and I keep forgetting they are slippers and continually wear them on errands.

This is wool clog with excellent arch support and decent weight. They are not noo heavy and provide the same kind of arch support as many Birkenstocks and a similar cork footbed. They tend to run small: I wear a 9.5 in most shoes and boots and these 43 (10) just fit with bare feet. Just to note: some customers report that they stretch out over time. They are well suited to home wear but are sturdy enough to wear outside the house because of their thick polyurethane sole.

I tried three sizes to try to make this slipper work. The correct size was way too small. The problem with all the sizes is that the top of the toe is not high enough. Only in the size that was way too big for me was the slipper not pushing down on my big toe. The arch support was amazing and I wish I could have made them work, but due to the cost, I was very particular about getting a good and comfortable fit.

Ordered my husband's size, however with the liner in, he said it is too small. He took out the liner, so now they are loose on his feet. He is thinking that if the slipper stretches out. he will put the liners back in. He decided to keep the slippers anyway and hope they work out for him

Based on other reviews here, I chose a size 45 / US 12, though I usually wear US 10 1/2 or US 11. The 12 turned out to be a very good fit for me. They are very comfortable and the arch support is perfect for me. I also tried 3 pairs of Haflingers, however all the ones I tried bumped my little toe. So the Haflingers all got returned, and the Giessweins won. Comfortable with and without socks. Easy enough to slip on and off, but they don't fall off the foot, thanks to the behind-the-ankle part that's just the right height. Supposedly machine washable, though I haven't needed to wash them yet. And I love the way they look. Ok for indoor/outdoor; I only wear them in the yard (not on the street) but the yard includes tall wet grass. They're good with a little water, still keeping the feet warm ... haven't ever gotten them soaking. I'm truly happy that these keep my feet warm without overheating. They were expensive, but I expect to get many years of good service from them.

I bought these for my 84 year old mom. She has painful feet with bunions, calluses, soft corns, Morton's Neuroma and has difficulty putting on most shoes. She has tried many other brands and styles but did not feel comfortable in any of them. This is the only clog/slipper that so far (it's been 10 days) that she has felt comfortable in. It is summer here now and I expected the wool to cause her feet to overheat which happens frequently with her. Surprisingly the wool appears to regulate her foot temperature and is breathable. It keeps her feet warm but not hot. The insole is cork and I was concerned it might be too hard for her (she's tried cork-soled Birkenstocks before and found the insole too hard). However this insole feels comfortable. This is an expensive Austrian slipper but well worth the investment. It is well engineered and made of high quality materials. It looks cute too. Now I'm thinking of buying her the Giesswein Vent for when she needs to walk outdoors.
I'd also recommend:
Keen, Clark's, Alegria. Arcopedico (though some styles lacks foot support because of soft material)

I have been wearing Haflngers as house shoes for years. When my last pair became too decrepit to look at (though still comfortable), I ordered another and discovered, as a number of other reviewers have, that Haflinger has apparently changed their unisex sizing to make their shoes wider; they felt like a men's EEE. Nope, can't do: I have narrow female feet and the clogs I ordered fell off at every step -- both dangerous and uncomfortable. So I returned them and thought I'd try Giessweins, which look similar and have the same German heritage. They're still too wide, but maybe the tiniest bit narrower and, with socks, stay on fairly well, although a deeper heel cup would increase stability. What convinced me to keep them is the excellent arch support, which is firm, comfortable and "hits" in exactly the right place. What nearly caused me to return them was the toe area, which is softer, floppier and less protective against stubs than the thoroughly-felted Haflinger toe. What makes me sad, although I'm keeping them is the sheer ugliness of the shoes. The color and fuzziness make me feel as though I'm wearing some variety of roadkill. (I work with fiber and fabric, and I know that wool felt looks a heck of a lot better with the fuzz sheared off.) Maybe I'll grow to love them as they adjust to my feet. And maybe, by some miracle, shoe manufacturers will learn that men's feet are different from women's, and not try to sell unisex sizes to all.

I usually order this once a year because I wear them all year long! I love these slippers! They are always a little snug when I first get them but by the time I've worn them that day (Yes! I always put them on as soon as they arrive!) they are perfect! I wear them as soon as I get home, the wool is so comfy and warm, but not too warm in the summer. I used to teach, standing on my feet all day, and now am retired and they're like a warm soft wrap around my tired achy feet! I take them with me when I travel too, I just can't do without them! I do love these shoes! Two down sides - 1. I usually have my little toe wear right through the wool by the years end. 2. I love these souls but I wish the company would add the cute appliques they do to the less souled ones.

This house shoe seemed way too big for me and I just clopped in them. The heel did not fit at all. Had to return them.

I’m having difficulty finding a good quality house slipper with excellent arch support & really held out high hopes for the Veitsch. Unfortunately, the 2 Giesswein styles that I tried did not fit me (Amerin Classic & the Veitsch) - both slipped off the back of my foot. I normally wear a size 9 in regular shoes, so initially ordered the Amerin Classic in size 40 (for 9-9.5 US) according to the Giesswein site), but they were too big & slipped off. I then ordered the Veitsch in size 90 (for 8-8.5 US), but it also slipped off the back of my heal. Plus, they both pressed too firmly across the top of my foot & weren’t very comfortable. I thought I was going to return the Powerstep house slippers because the sole isn’t as skid-resistant on slipper wood floors, but have decided to keep the Powerstep instead. Farewell, Giesswein - I really hoped this was going to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.... :(

These are pretty darn perfect. I have been wearing them daily for over 4 months. I have tried Kuru, Vionic and Orthofeet slippers and none of them have worked. I work at home and am on my feet a lot. I dislike wearing shoes in the house, but I need support for plantar fasciitis. These are expensive, but I thought they were worth a try. I have high arches and these are the first slippers I have found that truly offer enough support. They are very comfortable and there was no "break-in" period. These slippers don't give you a cozy warm feel, but my feet are never hot or never cold. The only issue is the wool stretches a bit. I NEVER wear socks with them, because I don't want to stretch them out. They are definitely looser on me now, but they stay on my feet and still work. I highly recommend.

If you need lots of support for slippers then these are for yo., I didn't like them, the inserts were very strudy and then the top was a little too snug like it was knitted? But loved the Blue color, very fun!

I am an 8-1/2 and I ordered a 39 European. They fit perfectly. I choked at the price, but I ordered them anyway. They’re warm, and so comfortable that I have forgotten to take them off a couple of times when going out. I don’t look like a slob anymore in my sheepskin UGGs. They look like shoes. LOVE THEM

I LOVE these shoes and have been living in them ever since they arrived. The key to getting the right fit is to check the Size Chart and measure your foot. I normally wear a size 10 but when I looked at the Size Chart, I realized I would need a size 11. They fit perfectly.

I love these shoes! I first tried Hafflingers but they have changed considerably since I last bought them and they were way too big. These fit, have a comfortable arch, and look great with jeans.

These slippers have great arch support, as advertised. They are also very heavy, and the soles are very hard. I have a narrow foot and they are wide on me, so work best with socks (which also helps with the soles). Not my favorite slipper, but I am grateful for the support, since it's hard to find that in slippers.

I purchased these to replace some 20-year-old Geissweins in a similar style. My feet are size 5 1/2, and I usually order size 36 in European sizing. But after reading the reviews for the Veitsch, I ordered a size 37, and they fit well. Size 36 would have definitely been too small. I bought them in Sapphire Blue, and am pleased with the color, which I think adds a note of whimsy. The Veitsch is very comfortable, with generous wiggle room for my toes. My feet are wide, though I am able to wear medium width shoes in some brands. I am able to wear the Veitsch very comfortably with bare feet or with thin cotton socks, but they are too narrow if I wear thicker socks. I received these about a week ago, and have been wearing them daily during recent wintry weather. They are excellent house shoes. There was no break in period. The sole is slip resistant. They are just what I was looking for.

I ended going with the Vionic Moca clog for a house shoe because it had better arch support and felt more like a shoe I could wear comfortably for doing housework and cooking. This is a very nice slipper with a wonderful classic look and a cozy feel, but only mediocre arch support for someone like me with super high arches and weak ankles.
