These shoes are so amazing, that I do not want to take them off. They are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. I bought them to use just as slippers. But since they are also suitable for outdoors, I am seriously considering buying a second pair for everyday wear. The fit is exactly perfect, the removable insole gives just the right amount of support, and the sole is extremely sturdy yet flexible. They are built very well, and it seems like they will last a very long time. Also, we keep our house at 62°, and these keep my feet nice and warm. The only negative is that the sole is so sturdy that it is impossible to sneak around on hardwood floors without making any sound, so if I need to be quiet to not wake up my wife who sleeps lightly, I have to take them off when walking on the hardwood floor in the bedroom. Yes, a carpet would fix that too! I bought four slippers to try out: Geisswein Veitsch, Geisswein Vent, Haflinger AT Classic Hardsole, and these. The other three were all pretty good, but these are so outstanding, I returned the other three pairs. My original intent was to also keep a pair with an open back, but these are easy enough to get in and out of, so I did not see the need for the other pair. These are not necessarily the coolest looking shoes in the world, but I was looking for comfort, quality, and longevity, and these definitely fit the bill.

I was a little concerned when I read all the reviews from folks who said these shoes run big. I have big feet (9) and I considered an 8.5, but no such size exists, so I went with the 9 (EU 39). Sadly, the shoes are too small. I tried them on with wool socks, which is how I would wear them, and they were too tight and too short in the toe. I tried them on with thinner socks and they fit the same. Too small overall. As for the arch support, it is a little on the high side, but it reminds me of my Stegmann boiled wool clogs, which I love. I assume once I get the right size, the arch support will feel fine. I'm exchanging these for the next size up, EU 40/US 10.

Giesswein is brand very well known in Europe for the quality of the shoes they produce. I already have two pairs of Giesswein sleepers and I am a real fan of this brand because of the quality in the making of the shoes and the material they use (lambswool). I was offered one pair of these shoes for Xmas. So far I have been wearing them a lot in very different conditions: freezing cold of Montreal, freezing rain in Maine and regular cold winter day in New York. Be sure of this: these shoes will keep your feet warm, dry and aerated. The top feature of these shoes to me is this: while wearing them, I have the feeling of wearing sleepers because they are so comfortable. With a pair of jeans they look very cute. I highly recommend these.

While I really have enjoyed my L.L. Bean leather slippers, they are lacking the arch support that I need. However, these house shoes/slippers are perfect for what I need since I spend most of the day inside. I have noticed that some people complain about the sizing. I found these to be right on the mark compared to other shoes.

This is a great shoe...my husband has issues with the soles of his feet and uses orthotics, which this shoe accommodates. They are a quality product and I am getting a pair for myself.

I have a larger volume foot with a very high instep. The Vietsch style did not work for me because of my instep. I really love these slippers they are comfortable on the top of my foot which is a challange with a high instep. However, for those with a lower volume foot I think these would run big and if you have a narrow heel there would likely be a gap other reviewers describe. I did not size up and I wear with socks. Worth a try as Zappos returns are always easy.

I wear a 13 and the 46 is at least a full size too small, maybe even two. I obviously did not get a chance to wear them but they look great.

I think the fact that it is now over 3 years ago since I bought this product, and I'm wearing them now looking to order another...says it all. Comfortable, arch support superb, all around the best purchase I've ever made for my feet and back.

Sizing is right on, and if you like room in the toe box you will love these. I tried a 39 and it was perfect (delicious, even) except for being just a tiny bit too short, so it bothered my toes. I exchanged for a 40 and wept over the fact that it slopped off my heel - and it's too heavy a shoe to be a flip-flop like that. Gosh, those insoles, though. Wish I could have kept these shoes, but since I was shopping for slippers after all, I found some Giesswein slippers that work for my feet and that I love.

Love how comfortable and supportive they are. They keep my feet nice and warm. I did need to buy a 1 1/2 sizes bigger.

The shoe looks great and feels great. Although the cork insole takes a little while to get used to. overall, the shoe is like a comfy slipper.

Very well made. The fit was so wide for me, that heels slip. Arch support would have been more effective if the width kept feet in place.

Instantly comfortable, perfect fit for my size 8 feet, good arch support. I have been wearing these for about 2 weeks, and like them a lot.

Ideal house shoes for cold feet on a winter day. These well made, super comfortable German Schuhe’s are well suited for out of the house adventures (thick, rubber, well ridged soles) on a dry day but in wet conditions you will have wet feet. Stylish in an “Earth shoe” sort of way. Great arch support - high and thick. Warm with or without socks.

This is my second pair of these slippers. I wear a size 10 shoe, and purchased the 42 last time (3 years ago). I found that they fit snuggly like a running shoe, but decided that I would like a bit more breathing room in a slipper, so got the 43 this time. My problem with the previous pair is that I wore a hole in one toe - hoping that the slightly bigger size rectifies that issue, as I'm expecting these to be 8 year slippers. Otherwise, good warmth, great support, excellent quality of workmanship - they are expensive, but an excellent product.

These slippers are incredibly comfortable and provide excellent arch support. We wear them as our house shoes. The bottoms are perfectly slip resistant, especially for tile floors. They are pricey, but worth the money. . . the best slippers I've ever owned!

These seem to be European fit, not US. Not wrong, just different. I originally bought my usual size but these run a bit small by half-size, so I purchased the next size up. The arch support is made of cork, so they will feel a bit stiff at first, but will confirm to your foot the more you wear the shoe. If there was a downside, it would be these are a bit noisy on hardwood floors. These are very comfortable.

I love these amazing boots, but unfortunately due to the cost I am only buying one pair and that is for my daughter! She fell in love and so she is the winner and I will wait to get mine but at a later date. My right foot is slightly smaller so in shoe size it was a bit to large and was slipping a bit. With socks it should be fine.

Length was true to size, but these are narrow.

Definitely a quality slipper... I anticipate it will last long and hold up well. It is heavy, but I'm ok with that because I am a long distance runner with arch issues and I need the support. I wear it with socks because it isn't the coziest feeling slipper on the inside and it's winter so it's ok now, but I do wonder how I'm going to feel about them in the hot summer months.

Yes, they're very expensive for use as slippers (which is what I bought them for) but they are VERY well constructed and have EXCELLENT foot support, unlike most slippers. Hopefully they'll last a long time! Only negative is they're not very quiet on wood floors.

Wonderful arch support. Good construction. Warm. However, they run a size too big. I had to send them back to order a smaller size. I always wear a 38, but this one was too big.

Makes my foot look big, and actually runs big, but obviously very comfortable with great arch support. I have to exchange down a size, but I think my husband wants a pair too now.

I love them, but soles wearing out after 13 months, not acceptable at this price!
