I love the look of these boots, but I had to return them. I am 5'1", 115 pounds, but I guess my calves are heavy for my size. I could not even get the boots past my calves to see if MAYBE they would work. Without a zipper and a little bit of give, they just didn't work for me.

These are very versatile - wear with skirts or tuck in pants. The heel is high enough to be dressy, but not too tall that they are not comfortable. The only challenge is that my thin legs required a WIDE calf boot. The regular width did not work - couldn't even pull all the way up - which is a problem I've never encountered before.

I Had to return these beautiful boots because they were way too small around the calf. I didn't order a wide because they didn't have wide in stock, but even so I've never had to order a pair of wide boots so these are just made small. If you have a return beware of the time it takes a refund to be given. I'm on day 9 and no refund yet.

These boots were very nice quality. I had some concerns from the pictures that they might be a bit clunky and they were so I returned them. They were great for jeans and other casual looks but not versatile enough for me for skirts, dresses and office wear. The shaft was a bit wide as well. The leather was very nice as I would expect from Frye.

I'd agree with other reviewers that these run a little tight in the calves. I've had other pairs of Fryes that felt roomier. That being said I could still pull them on and after breaking them in with a thicker pair of socks they've stretched out a little and easily fit over tights and leggings. Other than that they're a classic Frye style and made with exceptional quality. A perfect closet staple!

These were taller than I thought they'd be - beautiful, and would, I'm sure, be comfortable if I ordered them 1 size smaller. But because the leather was soft, it kind of buckled at the ankle from the weight of the upper shaft, just on one of the boots. The boots are still gorgeous - and I love the non-slip sole. I'm sending then back mainly because they're too long. I had no problem with calf circumference and my calves are 14 inches.

I was worried about buying these as they don't have side nor back zip also concerned about if they go with a semi business clothings. But when I tried them on, they are so comfortable easy to take them off ,and look so nice. I bought black colour size 7.5 Jakie bottom. For boots, I like to have them some room around my feet and calves. So that I can put some thick knee high stocking if needed. FYI: I normal size shoe size is 7 and I am 5'5" tall 115lb and 13" calf circumference.

After trying many tall black boots looking for a pair that worked on my narrow calves, these were the winner. However, while they do not gap at the top, they are a bit loose around the ankle - I was hoping for something sleeker but these were not to be had at any price point. I honestly did not think my legs were that skinny! The shaft on these is pretty straight, the top is not really any wider than the ankle. Fortunately, the quality of the leather is excellent, so although the ankles are a bit wide, they are not stiff. The leather is pretty substantial and since the top is narrow, they stay up (no slouching!). A bit narrower in the toe than some of my other Fryes - they were rubbing a bit by the end of a long day running around New York City (first time wearing them) but really not too bad. These boots are versatile - and can be worn with with jeans tucked in or with a dress or skirt.

I loved these boots. The moment I opened the box, the aroma of the leather was so delightful! The leather was soft and beautiful. I got a little carried away and ordered 4 pairs of boots at one time, 2 of which were the Frye Jackie Button. I had chosen the Black Soft Vintage Leather and the Chocolate Soft Vintage Leather, size 8. Once received, these beautiful boots were simply too tight around my calf at the top of the boot. Both were a bit too baggy around the ankle, but it didn't look quite so bad with the chocolate pair as it did on the black. The toe was a bit tight as well, but it is possible that since we are fresh out of flip flop weather, my toes need to acclimate back to closed toe shoes. However, I had no idea that I needed to measure both of my calves before ordering boots. Now I know, and I am telling you, make sure to measure both of your calves. Since they were so tight, I tried ordering a different pair of Frye boots the Frye Parker Tall. I measured my left calf. It was a 15, so I felt safe ordering these with the intent to return the Jackie Buttons. Can you believe even with a zipper, my fat legs still struggled to get these on? The left foot zipped fine, but the right foot would not zip! Turns out, my right calf is bigger than my left. Go figure! So frustrating because I love the Frye boots. I am not giving up. I plan to return the Black Soft Vintage Leather Frye Jackie Button Boot and order a larger size in the Frye Parker Tall. (I like the ease of the zipper better than the pull on with such a tall boot.) I am seriously considering exchanging the Chocolate Soft Vintage Leather for a larger size to see if that helps. I am going to try a size 8.5 if available, or a size 9. I hope the Frye Parker Tall black exchange works out so I will have a brown and black pair. Wish me luck!

Thinking whether to keep these. I love Frye, love the color and soft leather of Vintage cognac. I am about 5'1 and a half and the boots are right up to my knees. They don't interfere with walking or sitting, since the higher part is on the side, but I'm wondering if others my height have felt they were too tall? My husband does! I have a pair of Frye Veronica short and of course those are fine.

I love Frye boots, and decided to order the Jackie Button in Chocolate, size 7.5. When I pulled them out of the box, they were gorgeous!!! However I couldn't get my foot down the shaft, and my calves were too big. I hike and bike a lot and as a result have a very muscular build and have always had troubles getting my calves into boots. I decided to try them on again this morning (since feet swell during the day). My foot slipped in and they are the perfect size. They are still tight around the calves, so I will be using some stretching techniques I have learned over the years. I have received a ton of compliments on the boots already!!!

Sweet, soft, mildly sexy. One of the few I've found that's narrow enough at top -- doesn't flare out much at all. Had to order half size up to accommodate my somewhat wide toes (fairly pointed boot). Very easy to pull on, no tugging.

Having to return these for the same problem other reviewers have mentioned - the calves are too small! I could barely get them on my bare legs. I'm 5' 3" and 127 pounds, but I walk a lot so I have athletic calves. These are for people with very very skinny calves! Sad they didn't work out as they're very beautiful otherwise.

Had to return these - this is definitely one of the Frye boots that runs a little large. Beautiful, smooth leather, though. The style felt slightly dated.

I am also very sad to have to return these. The size and heel height were perfect and they are absolutely beautiful (the picture and description are very accurate). But they slouched around the ankle, which would have been fine for me if the rest of the boot slouched. But the rest of the boot was pretty snug around the calves. While I know the leather would have stretched some, the slouch around the ankle just didn't look right. For the price, I couldn't justify waiting to see how they would break in. It's a shame because they are beautiful and clearly very well made.

The shaft was was way too small for my huge runner's calfs. But these are absolutely gorgeous boots! I have had the Frye Dorado boots for two years and they fit my calfs but unfortunately these are not even close. These boots were perfect with the sleek soft black leather, simple design and perfect 2½" heel! I wish they would make this exact Jackie Button with a wider shaft! I am so sorry to return them!

These are too tight in the calfs, again. These were so close, though, closer to fitting than several other Fryes that I have tried. I liked that the ankle area was not tight and stiff. I ordered the cognac and it was definitely a casual look, but very pretty. The leather is soft.

The color is awesome. The look awesome. Love this boot. The fit was a little big. I wear an 8 and ordered an 8. I don't think a 7 1/2 would fit This was my first pair of Fryes, and the price kind of scared me, but I love them.

I was devastated that I had to return these - I'm 5'4 and have athletic calves, and I couldn't even get these on bare legs, let alone over jeans. These were exactly what I was looking for in a great pair of boots, but they just didn't fit.

Love this boot although I noticed slight blemishes on the leather. Not enough to return though. The smaller size I ordered actually had a very noticable gummy substance on the leather (looked like a sticker had been there) and did not arrive in an original Frye box, which makes me think all the boots in vintange Cognac are returns from other customers. The imperfections on the leather from both boots are the only reason I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars. Otherwise these are gorgeous boots.

I have been trying to find the perfect pair of knee high boots, and ordered these kind of on a whim along with some others, fully expecting to return this pair. I didn't like how slouchy they looked in the picture, which is why it was a whim. When I got them though, they turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. The height of the heel is super comfortable, and the heel is sturdy, which is what I wanted (no stilettos for me!), but the height of the heel makes it easy to pair these with dressy outfits. The footbed wasn't as padded as the Frye Jane Stitch, but it was still comfortable. It is not too narrow, and true to size for me. The width is pretty good too - it's 14 inches around the top, and it's a narrow fit for me, but I can still get them over skinny jeans. I think it's going to stretch out though, so I'm pleased about that. The sole has some kind of rubber on the bottom which makes it skid proof (some of the other Fryes I tried didn't, which prompted me to return those). I really like the pull tabs - makes they very easy to get on. The leather (I got the cognac pressed nubuck) is gorgeous! The reason I knocked off 1 star is because the right boot has 2 different colored leathers on it, and it looks like it's striped. I'm actually returning them as a result and reordering another pair - hopefully those ones will be the keeper! Thank you Zappos for your easy returns!

I loved these boots so much. They are gorgeous and you can tell they are well made (although I was sad to see that Fryes are no longer made in the USA -- these boots were Hecho in Mexico). I so wanted to keep them, but they are very narrow across the widest part of the foot -- painfully so. And the right boot was MUCH tighter than the left, which was weird. Makes me wonder if someone else got this pair before me and tried to stretch one out or something? Maybe its just a manufacturing defect, but between the narrowness and the discrepancy in size from one foot to the other, I couldn't keep them on for more than a minute or two before my feet were really hurting, so I had to return these gorgeous soft beauties. So sad!

Frye boots are great and these are no exception. I had to return them as they were a little too western style for me to wear to work.

Beautiful, but, sadly, they were in fact too small for my calves. I'm 5'10" and a size 14. As far as the foot, I do wish Frye made a 10.5; their 11s always run a touch big.
