I bought a pair of Solomon light hiking boots a year or so back and I loved the comfort. I was looking for something as comfortable as my Nike Air Max but the new shoe needed to be waterproof (Indiana Winters). I ordered the XA Pro Ultra 2. When I ordered I thought they were fairly expensive but my Dad always told me, "In shoes you get what you pay for. Don't buy cheap shoes!" I was so happy I listened! The Solomon XA has exceeded my expectations for comfort and durability. I wear them every day. I can't wait to get them out in the Hoosier National Forest in Southern Indiana this winter. Zappos also came through, as usual, with fast delivery. Bottom line: Buy these shoes! Buy them from Zappos!

These shoes were really comfortable right out of the box. Totally waterproof, and the speed lacing makes them easy to slip on and off.

Great shoe. This is the only shoe my husband will wear. He works as a real estate inspector and wears it for work everyday. He likes it because if he steps in water it will not allow his feet to get wet. Great traction when he walks on roofs too. We have bought this shoe for 3 years now. Never an issue. Well worth the money. Zappos ships the order onetime every time. Great place to buy shoes!

Great shoe, not sure if the Gore-tex version is needed for everyday wear, but love these shoes. Works well in the snow and mountains.

I, too, had the previous non GORE-TEX and loved them. These are definitely stiffer and have rubbed my left heel raw. I go through shoes like socks here. I walk everywhere and hopefully these will break-in soon.

When I first started wearing the shoe the comfort was not good and I would give it only a 2-3 for comfort, the heel uper rubbed my skin raw along my achiles tendon, that area of the shoe needs to be broke in, I did this bye stepping on it and bending it back and forth. Once that area of the shoe was broke in I have had no issues with comfort or fit.

Love this shoe one of the best I ever owned. Size is perfect, feels light on the foot and you can feel its solid construction. I wear them for daily use and have done some trail walking in them and it took no time at all to break in. They also did an excellent job keeping the water out. I have low arches and these shoes have been so comfortable as if they were built for support of a low arch. Highly recommend these. I will try a boot for next winter and have a lot of confidence in Salomon.

Great shoes. I'm in Afghanistan and they can handle the river rocks and mud that is everywhere during the winter and rainy months.

One of the best pair of shoes I have purchased in awhile. I should have bought two pairs since they never seem to have size 13+ very often. Very comfortable and stylish! All around a great shoe! Fits well, true to size and I am on my feet most of the day and never get tired of standing in these shoes!

Excellent shoe as always with this model and used Salomon XA2 now with this internal reinforcement should also go to the outer side of shoe which is where the shoe always breaks. This is the tenth pair of this model and always after the 6 months of use is broken on the outside but on the whole an excellent shoe and hard to get this model.

These are by far the best trail shoes that I have ever owned. If you want water proof, comfortable, good looking shoes. Just get a pair of these and you will never buy any thing else.

These are by far my favorite shoes. I spend over 10 hours a day on my feet at my job and do an immense amount of walking. My feet are not sore at the end of the day and they are so light that I do not even realize I have them on. They are quick on and off with no laces to tie is a great bonus. Buy these shoes, you will not regret it.

Absolutely love these shoes! This is my second pair of Salomon XA series shoes. First ones were XA Comp 3 and lasted 3.5 years. They're my go-to all weather shoe. Compared to the Comp 3, these are a bit more stable, stiffer frame. Lacing issues fixed (that's all that died on the Comp 3) with better eyelets. Toe cap is sturdy. The tail of the sole off the heel is a little irritating. Not really sure how it helps anything, but can catch on stairs or such if you're not paying attention. Doesn't affect running. Took these on a week excursion through Utah (Moab, Zion, etc) right after buying and had excellent comfort. No break-in required. I have a moderately high arch and wider foot, and fit in these fine. They squeeze in width a little for a wide foot but stretch enough for comfort. Use Green Superfeet in all my other shoes but can't wear them in these Kills my foot to have them in. Arch support in these is fine on its own.

I have ordered several pairs of Salomon shoes over the last 5 years and I wear these shoes for everyday use. Very comfortable shoe. I have large feet and they feet me perfectly!

Great hiking shoe! the first outing in them was a 5 mile hike, up and down steep grades, rock hopping through dry creek beds... you name it, this shoe perform! No break in period, comfortable right out of the box.

Great shoe! I love the Kevlar laces and easy system to tighten them. I have wide feet (12.5 E) and they fit just fine. Very comfortable.

Wow, I'm so bummed out! I got this pair for Xmas and they are just too darn tight around my toes (side to side). Too narrow. I asked for these for Xmas to replace my 1st gen ones that I've had for over 7 years. Incredible shoe, great for everything. But this new version is built narrow and I have a "normal" foot shape. So bummed. But if they fit you, kudos! I'm really jealous.

I bought these shoes from Zappos because I wore out my first pair. The first pair had lasted for years. They are my favorite shoes due to three things: The Gortex means my feet stay dry in wet grass, or puddles; the arch support is excellent for comfort; and the laces do up quickly without using knots. Love the shoes - other than not shipping on the day I expected, the Zappos service was exceptional. Be happy purchasing these Salomon shoes from Zappos.

This is a very good hiking shoe if you are looking for good gripping on trails, without a high-top design. The fit was true to size, but if you want to wear thick hiking/walk socks like we did, you may want to go a half size up. Weight is a bit heavier than an average sneaker, but to be expected. Decent value price-wise and appears that they will hold up with the GORE-TEX upper. As always, great Zappos service on this order.

This is my third pair of these shoes. I first bought them for my field labs to have a comfortable waterproof shoe. I wore that pair of shoes out after a year and a half of constant wear. These shoes are fantastic! When the pair I just bought wears out I will buy another pair from Zappos.

Pros: Extremely comfortable and supportive. I have a narrow foot with a very narrow heel and these fit very well. Cons: The lacing system has about 6 inches more line than is required. Overall, great shoe. I have only worn them for about 3 days, however. Fit and finish are superb. The color is not quite as light as the picture leads you to believe. They are a bit darker in person.

Very sturdy well supported shoe good for all day on the trail. The only thing that wears out is the sole after lots of miles. I have had many pairs of this model of shoes over the years and will continue to as long as they are available.

These are my second pair of Gore-Tex Salomons and I'm loving them. I am an avid hiker and all I use are these now. The stability is great for a low top, the tread on the bottom is beefy enough to stand up against some loose and steep terrain and they're waterproof. Can't say enough about these shoes. I imagine in another 5 to 6 years I'll be ordering yet another pair. Great trail shoe.

This is my 4th pair of these shoes and 6th pair of Salomons. The XA Pro Gore-Tex last 2 years. They're warm in cold weather, solidly built, great for hiking and even jogging trails. Definitely recommend. Price is high, but worth it.
