Bought these for hubby that just had knee replacement surgery. Was looking for something with good traction, waterproof, and comfortable fit. These were perfect! So worth the money. Like the laces too - easy on and off. Only shoes he can wear right now. Already got our money's worth! He loves them (especially with all the compliments from doctors) and I'm a little more at ease with him outside. Thank you Zappos!

Very comfortable shoe out of the box. The fast lace system is great. Have worn these in rain and snow and have been happy with the traction and warmth they provide.

I've had these shoes a couple of months so I feel that I can finally review them fairly. Arch support and feel are awesome right out of the box. I primarily use these shoes for walking/hiking on pavement/dirt trails and my feet feel fine (no foot fatigue) after wearing them. The lacing system is quite awesome too - super fast and super easy.

I love these shoes. Well made & look better in person than the picture. This is my second pair of Salomon shoes and I will be buying a third. Some size 12's can be a bit tight on me. Some brands I wear a 12w (eg. Bostonian) but these fit perfectly.

I order this shoe from Zappos and arrived at my house overnight from Zappos! The shoe itself has great cushion, I love the lace up system to hug my foot. I'm a Fed Ex courier in SLC Utah and run all day long so I needed a shoe that could hold up to the harsh Utah seasons! So far they are great with a short break in period. Will update once the winter has ended and see how they did.

I bought these for a trip to Ireland as I wanted something waterproof, comfortable, and somewhat stylish. They took a bit to break in, but fit better the longer I wore them. Love the speed laces and made it easy to remove at the airports security. They fit well, are very comfortable, the tread gripped everything, and my feet stayed dry.

Sturdy, light and super comfortable. Some reviews listed it as running narrow which I find strange because I find them to run a tad wide. Awesome shoe especially when paired with an insole for tighter fit. Only style point takeaway is on that diagonal lace bit at front of the shoe. It's a function/engineering over style element I know, but I'm not a fan.

This is my fourth pair of these shoes. They are super comfortable for walking around the city all day or hiking 21km. I love the drawstring that stays tight, which makes them easy for traveling in airports and for putting on and off quickly (especially in Asian homes). I love the waterproof ones, and they dry quickly. Very functional, practical walking/hiking shoe.

These shoes are great: Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 Gore-Tex. I just bought a second pair because I had my first pair for about 8 years and it's time to retire them. They start out as light hiking shoes, as intended, but also work great mowing the lawn and fixing up houses. I walk my dog with them on pavement or trails. I'm not a big runner but if I was they would probably work on rougher terrain. They are heavier and stiffer than other trail running type shoes, which some may not like if they expect something else. I like how strong they feel and how durable / rugged they are. So I tend to think of them as a lighter alternative to a hiking shoe, made for the city and everyday use or country fields or mountains. The Gore-Tex works well and comes in handy with wet field grass, crossing small streams, and puddles in run down houses that I may be rehabbing or inspecting. I like the strong rubber toe for added protection. Yes they are expensive but they have lasted me a long time, especially if you shift how you use them as they age. Not sure how a high performance trail runner would feel about their longevity, but these would likely last as long as or longer as other high performance trail running shoes. This was my first Zappos purchase and it was a great experience.

The best shoe I have ever owned. Durable, comfortable, stylish. I use this shoe for daily commute and regular hiking through trails in a nearby park. This shoe can take any conditions - rain, mud, any terrain. There was very minimal break in period - like just a day or two. But really not bad at all. Very comfortable, and of course the convenience of the Salomon lacing system.

Excellent quality shoe with attention to detail. Comfortable with good arch support. Excellent tread for difficult terrain. Speed lacing is a nice feature. This shoe is waterproof due to Gore-Tex. Ventilation is not as good for this particular shoe so it may be warm to wear for some in hot weather. I'm looking forward to walking my dogs in this shoe this winter.

I bought this shoe for a trip to New Zealand, because we were planning on a bunch of 1-2 day hikes, and my sneakers seemed inadequate to that task. I am a big fan of minimalist shoes. I wear vibrams and Nike Free's for hiking and athletic stuff, and Reef sandals at work. I am not a fan of excessive "support." It took me about two full days of hiking to break these shoes in, but after that, they were very comfy. Before that, my feet hurt where the arch support was more than I generally like. I had them submerged, multiple times, in water, and my feet stayed dry. The "pull tab" style of tying them in interesting. I can't really give it a review until I find out how long it takes until it breaks. On the surface, it's...okay. They're hard to loosen when your hands are cold.

Great fitting shoe and very comfortable! This shoe looks heavy, but is actually much lighter than other hiking shoes. I love that the laces tuck into a hidden pocket on the tongue. This is my second pair, I love them.

Ordering my sixth pair in last three years. Great shoes! If I'm not wearing a dress shoe, I'm donning one of my Salomon's! They do seem to show wear on top a bit quicker now than they did a few years back. Not sure if that's because they are using a lesser grade material now or if I'm just being rougher on them. But nonetheless, I like them enough to keep buying! Kudos to Zappos, too! Great company to purchase from!

I don't like show laces! The speed laces on this shoe are great. I was able to put these on and go. No need to have a break in period. They are very comfortable. This is the 2nd pair I've owned. They are waterproof and keep my feet warm in three seasons of wear (Northeast). Well worth the cost.

I bought these shoes in April last year. The shoes have held up fairly well so far but I noticed the other day the soft material separated from the leather portion of the shoe (near the big toe area). Looks like the seam was not up to par. Now water can get into my shoe. I then looked at my right shoe and saw the same thing starting to happen near the toe area. Did not expect that after moderate camping/hiking, one year and the price. But the shoe so far has been great with everyday usage. The shoes do keep my feet warm and dry when there was no tear. Just a little disappointed they did not last more than a year. I would recommend the shoe to friends and have. Actually my favorite shoes so far! I just purchased the Salomon Quest 4D GTX before noticing the hole in my XA Pro's. I bought the Quest's for more ankle support when doing more active things. Hopefully these will last longer than a year? Now should I get another pair of XA Pro's? Zappos is a great site and will continue to shop with them!

This is my 2nd pair of Salomons since the first gave way after 3 years of punishment Can't say more than that it's comfortable, it supports well, and it's not ugly. Go Gore Tex, it's like an umbrella for your shoes - you won't know when it rains and you'll be thankful you chose GT when it does.

Had these shoes for about three weeks now. I walk 3 miles every day with my dog and needed a good shoe. So far these have been great. They broke in very quickly.

These shoes are incredible. Easily the most comfortable Salomons I've ever had. I fell in love with the brand after the XT Wings and these are so much better. The Gore-Tex is fantastic (tested during the crazy storms we're having right now). I highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable, stable, dry all-around hiking/casual shoe.

Great shoe! Perfect for cold, wet or low level snow conditions. Love the quick pull tie. Fits very well. I originally got a bigger size and it was too big but Zappos made the return/exchange painless. It runs on the large size so if you are between sizes, opt for the smaller.

I work outdoors in all weather conditions and these shoes are by far the best shoes for any situation. They are extremely comfortable, there is very little (if any) break in period, and they keep your feet dry. I was a Merrell only person until I tried these. I highly recommend these to anyone who needs a rugged and comfortable pair of shoes.

I first bought these shoes for an urban adventure race (Oyster SF) in 2006 and I've bought 2 more pairs since. I find them to be fantastic all-around shoes -- great support for jogging, sturdy enough for trail running, waterproof enough to slog through rain and puddles, grippy enough for climbing rocks and trekking through snow. I've taken one pair through a monsoon in Angkor Wat, and I've taken another up and down Half Dome. Oh, and that first pair got me through two more of those urban adventure races after the first one. Yeah, you could say I'm a big fan -- I'll most likely buy another pair after these wear out.

These are great shoes. I like the quick ties a lot, and the handy pocket to tuck them into the tongue is a nice touch. They are a bit tight in the toe box, even for extra wide shoes. I will have to take them to a shoe repair place and have them stretched. The confort is 4 stars only because the toe box is small.

Love these shoes! They are my everyday casual shoes for walking the dog, going to the store, etc. I have also worn them on numerous hikes and they are very comfortable. Only complaint is that the arches are a little narrow so if I am standing still for an extended period of time they can start to hurt my feet. They do sell a wide version which may solve the problem. This is my second pair of these shoes and I will continue to buy. Spend the extra cash and buy this GTX version. Life saver!
