Reading some of the negative reviews, it is very obvious that some people are choosing these shoes for looks rather than for what it really is: a barefoot running shoe. This means that there is very little padding or arch support, and the toe area is larger to allow your toes to spread. This is not a traditional, fully padded running shoe. You should be able to wear this and feel the ground. This is my fourth pair from the Merrell Barefoot collection. I bought these because unlike the Pace Glove, these are water resistant. I have long, narrow feet and these feel narrower than the pace gloves. It works well for me but may not work for a wider foot. I love the Dark Shadow color and the

Major disappointment! I nearly attacked our UPS man to get these in my house. I was so pumped up to try them on! they are a beautiful shoe. The colors are fantastic. I was looking for a good shoe to do short runs/trail runs in. I currently use Nike Frees and I was aware these Merrells would be quite different in style and fit. The fit is horrible! I read the few reviews that said they felt a half size small and I agree with that. I wear 10 across the board on all styles of shoes and went with a 10. My toes felt like they were being bent upward at the end. The tongue is not comfy at all. I could feel all the seams and the edges of the tongue no matter how loosely I laced the shoe. Horribly stiff! It's like the sole is made of tire rubber. My Nikes are so flexible and it's not a detail I'm willing to sacrifice despite the incredible look these Merrells have. When I'd step, the orange fabric at the toe would wrinkle up as I toed off and after wearing them in my living room for no more than 5 minutes, it was wrinkled even when I took it off. This shoe gets many good reviews so I suppose it is just a specific foot that will like it. I am so sad! It's truly a nice looking shoe. I wanted to like it so badly!

I love the look of this shoe and get lots of compliments on it. Purchased for leisure wear rather than running/exercise as I need more support for those activities. Have found them very comfortable and great for errands, travel, etc. Although because they live up to the "barefoot" name they do feel quite well. I have noticed a bit of metatarsal pain if I wear them for extended periods on hard surfaces. I have large (size 11) narrow feet and felt that these fit well and hug my foot nicely, even without socks.

Lightweight, love the color, but this shoe tore up the back of my heel the first 2 times I wore it. It takes some breaking-in but it is a very lightweight shoe and comfortable eventually.

These were the most uncomfortable shoes I had ever tried...until I took out the cardboard insole inserts. Duh. I adore my two pair of Merrell Pace Glove and ordered these because they appeared sturdier for hiking trails. I ordered up a half size from my normal 8s because I thought I would need the extra room for downhill hiking. Merrell, apparently, already considered that. I should have ordered my regular size and did exchange them. They're fabulous! They're a bit more enclosing than the Pace, mostly because of the water-resistant fabric upper. The Vibram sole is also more aggressive than the Pace, which I believe will be safer on hills and in wet weather. I would advise ordering your normal size. The toe box is not quite as wide as the Pace, let's say, but the shoe lacing allows for adjusting the fit. The Pace and the Lithe Glove have become my go-to shoes for jogging/exercise; my Asics lay in the closet unworn now; I can wear these all day long with no discomfort.

These are absolutely fabulous. I have been trying on "barefoot" shoes for over a year now and have finally found the one! It is minimalist design without sacrificing comfort. For my female foot it has a nice snug heel and arch fit...good lacing to support this fit. The big bonus is a nice roomy toe box. Perfect! Am ordering 2 pair in black and the very cool greenish color. Love them!

I bought these shoes for step aerobics. They fit like a glove and are extremely lightweight. I've worn them to aerobics for about 4 weeks, and so far I think they are great. I did order 1/2 size up, which is the way Merrells seem to fit me. I get lots of complements on the shoes. My feet seem to like them, too, because I've had no issues at all.

I love the way these shoes fit my feet. Good support in the middle, lots of toe room and bends with my foot.

I love these shoes. I started to second guess myself on the size but I went with my normal 7.5 and I am glad I did! They are so comfortable that I find myself picking out outfits that go good with them just so I can wear them more. Oh, and they are cute!

They are light and hug your feet. These shoes feel extremely comfortable in any situation and repel moisture really well. I'm definitely impressed with these shoes and I'm really glad I got them.

I bought this shoe primarily for wearing at work, which sometimes involves a lot of standing and walking. I may also use it secondarily for running (2-4 mi) in the winter. Rather than the mesh Glove, I went with the soft shell because work involves chemicals and glass, and my feet need some degree of protection. It also means they'll be useful in more types of weather in the midwest. They are too warm on hot days, but should be wearable the rest of the year. I wear 7 1/2-8 for 'normal' shoes and 8-8 1/2 for running shoes. I ordered several sizes and went with the 8 Lithe. It fits well with light socks, or barefoot. (I prefer the socks, so that my feet sweat less and the edge around my ankles doesn't rub.) I have low arches, and the shoes end up being comfortable and they just took a bit of getting used to. I haven't had any arch pain or blisters. I've been wearing them every other day for a few weeks. I also looked at several colors and went with Brindle-- gray and green, and OK to wear with khaki/olive/neutral pants. If they keep working out, I'll probably move to making these my everyday shoes.

Wow! I put these on the minute they came, and they are incredible. They are a little hard to get on and off, but it's because they conform to my feet so well. Haven't tried running in them yet, but fully expect they'll be perfect for exercise also. Try them - you'll love them!

I am an admitted "shoe addict" and this is my favorite shoe ever. It is very much like walking barefoot! At 63 years of age, I did not think I would find an athletic "barefoot" shoe for me, but this is it! It is so comfortable that I want to keep it handy at all times to throw on when I need "treat for my feet." I feel I have had less hip discomfort since starting to wear this shoe - a real gift! It runs large - had to go down 1/2 size, but otherwise no problems! (It seems to scrunch in the toes if too long.)

Sad not to like this shoe. Wanted a barefoot style shoe for winter, and although this is light and flexible like the other barefoot Merrells, it was way too tight across the forefoot. Very uncomfortable. The shoe was long enough, even roomy in length, but just runs much narrower than other barefoot shoes I've tried. Maybe it was a defective pair?

I bought the Lithe after owning a pair of the Merrell Barefoot Pace and loving them. The Lithe were narrower and longer compared to the Pace. My feet are short and wide so the Pace are a much better fit for me and the Lithe were sent back.

Love these shoes! Just make sure you remove all cardboard from them as some pieces hide in the sides and will stay in place if you don't remove it. Not a pleasant feeling. My fault, though.

I love this shoe! It fits like a dream and glove! I am not a runner. But I am a walker. This shoe will work out perfect. I ordered a 1/2 size larger than what I usually wear and they fit fine, barefoot and with thin socks. I can' believe how comfortable they are. I chose the Cosmo Pink and love the color. Since I received them, I can't take them off! That comfortable!

These shoes are amazing. Originally I purchased the Inov-8 230, but the toe box was huge and they did not feel good enough to justify the price. I ordered these and they absolutely fit like a glove. They are light weight and the lower cut keeps them from cutting into your foot. I am using these shoes for CrossFit, I highly recommend them!

These shoes are so cute! But, sadly they must go back. My left toes rub the front of the shoe in the 8 and the 8½ are too big for my right foot. If it was not for the rubbing, these felt extremely comfortable. Now I am going on the hunt for the perfect barefoot shoes.

Love. One caution - they have very little traction! Wearing them on snow/ice has been...exciting.

My Nikes are now retired. I was ready for a knee replacement after wearing them and other athletic shoes for 20 years. My knees are incredibly better now as I am wearing the Merrell Barefoot Lithe Glove! It performs a miracle for me!

I love these shoes! They truly are like being barefoot. These are the only shoes that are comfortable all day for me; I forget I'm wearing them! I wear a 9.5 or 10, and 9.5 in Merrells fits me perfectly! I’m going to order more in different colors. I get lots of compliments on these!

I can walk further because the shoe is lightweight and allows my foot to bend naturally. Allows arch to function naturally.

I love how these shoes fit. It is different but they literally do fit like a glove. I wear them around the house and to work out in. It takes a few days to get used to how they feel because you don't have a thick sole and heel. My calves were sore after my first run. They got a true workout! Go to the Merrell website to learn about "barefoot" shoes.

I'm writing this review after having just received the Merrell Lithe Gloves in Cosmo Purple. (A wonderfully fun and bright color combo!) I purchased these because I am interested in the barefoot running craze and the Vibram FiveFingers don't fit my feet very well. My plan is to wear these while training for and participating in my first Warrior Dash. I always wear a 6 1/2 in shoes; however, when I received these, there was nearly an extra inch in length between my toes and the actual toe of the shoe. I exchanged for a half size down and they fit much better. The shoes do seem a bit wide in the toe area; however, in a previous review, someone mentioned that these shoes are supposed to fit like that for purposes of barefoot running in order to give your toes room to spread. This is my third pair of Merrells, my first in their series of running shoes. I've always found Merrells to be incredibly comfortable; I'm looking forward to running in these.
