I think these shoes are real stylish and look real good. However I am using them for training and I'm finding the front of soles are not holding up the rigors of training. I do a lot of bear crawls, forward, lateral and backwards and the front soles are beginning to wear from friction of mats. Although I understand they are minimalist shoes, it's unfortunate and not what I expected.

I ordered these shoes almost exactly 2 months ago from today and I felt inclined to write a review. I feel people should be warned about these shoes before they buy them. First I want to say that after only two months these shoes are starting to fall apart at all the seams. These shoes do not have stitching but instead I believe are glued together. I do a combination of standard lifting and crossfit type workouts and these shoes do not seem built to handle it. Don't get me wrong - for the first month when these shoes were still together and working they were excellent and performed great but again quality is the key concern here not performance. I suppose it could have something to do with my size (over 220 lbs) and would probably better suit a lighter person. If all you want is a flat bottom simple looking shoe, then it's probably fine but if you expect to use them heavily, I would look for a more solidly built pair of shoes than this one.

I have worn these shoes during a couple of HIIT workouts and a few hours of racquetball. I must say that I am very disappointed with the construction of the shoes from the comfort perspective, I have yet to see any unusual wear. Like another reviewer pointed out, the innersole/footpad does not extend all the way up to the front and side of the shoes. The soles of your feet will be touching two materials. In my case the ridge created by this construction rubs against the ball and the outer areas of my feet, and makes the shoes have that snug feeling in a bad way. It feels like the soles of my feet are not on even surfaces. Based on the feedback of another reviewer I continued to wear these shoes to break them in but I still experience this discomfort. Perhaps my feet are the ones that need to break in to accommodate the shoes that I now have to keep. I wear a size 9 and had to order 9½. I also ordered the 9½EE but they did not solve the ridge problem. I should also add that I went to my local New Balance store to try the MX20 v2 and they are completely different shoes with their own flaws, but the ridge was gone. That makes you wonder why. Also, how is it that more people do not point the innersole construction!

Loved the shoe, but it's durability was terrible. Six months of very limited wear, and the fabric is already wearing to the point of unwearability. It seems to be made of nylon mesh that looks quite durable, but it just didn't last. I'm a big fan of NB shoes, but this one is a real disappointment.

I bought these shoes for lifting (squats, deadlifts, etc.) and mild cardio at the gym.
Initially, they were great. I was careful to wear them walking around for a couple days first to get used to them, and carefully stretched before doing any leg lifts. They fit great (some slight pressure points on the outside of the foot near the back of the "N" but nothing too bothersome), looked great, and gave a nice solid platform for lifting.
However, after about 3-4 weeks of wearing them, however, I developed a case of patellofemoral pain syndrome, which is currently keeping me from working out my lower body at all! One of the recommendations for avoiding future pain is to have supporting shoes while putting stress on the knees - something these clearly aren't designed to do. I certainly can't put full blame on the shoes, but I've never had any problems before buying them, and didn't do anything out of the ordinary.
So, if you're like me, and tend to pronate, beware that these shoes may do bad things to your knees. If you don't, then by all means, give 'em a go, just listen to your body!
TL;DR: Shoes look and feel great, but likely contributed heavily to injuring my knee. Can't recommend.

I have had these shoes for about 72 hours now and they are starting to come apart at the seams. They are comfortable but for the price they are a huge rip off. That is in no way the fault of Zappos. I will not be giving my money to New Balance again that is for sure.

Awesome shoes. I'm a New Balance fan and these fit great. Size 8.5E since I have a wide foot and they fit true to size. I use them primarily for Crossfit and the minimal style and weight works great. These are the lightest shoes I've owned and I would definitely recommend. They do not have a lot of arch support and for all day walking that might be an issue for someone with high arches.

I bought these for Zumba and have been very pleased. They feel a bit narrow with a smaller toebox compared to the MX20v3 but they have a good slick tread that allows for spins, slides and twists without causing too much stress on the knees. I also bought a pair of the MX20v3 which have a very grippy tread pattern and the toe box is very spacious and wide. So for me the MX20 is great for dancing but the MX20v3 is more stable and great for outdoor off road jogging or BodyCombat where a grippy tread is not a problem.

Great shoe! I prefer a low profile show with no cushion when I strength train (not crossfit), and this is perfect for me. Whether its Heavy Deadlifts, Squats, OH presses or sled work these are always on my feet. They keep your feet in a more anatomical position, so lifting also becomes safer as well.

Perfect Shoe. Perfect, Simple, flat shoe. I have 4 pair now. I keep buying them out of fear that they'll stop making them. I run (300 miles & counting), workout, and work in these. Winning product.

Shoes are definitely minimalist. I am an RN and work 14-16 hour shifts...almost all standing/walking. I have flat/wide feet and these are super comfortable. My go to pair of shoes is Adidas Sambas.

I like these shoes. Very lightweight and airy. I wear a size 13EE and my first order was for that size. They were too small. The ones I have now are size 14 and they fit just right.

Best all around CrossFit shoe on the planet. Period. I was a college/semi-pro baseball player, we got free workout shoes all the time; I've had every model of workout shoes you can think of, and this is the best (yes, better than the Reebok Nanos for all you hardcore Crossfit "Reeboker's" out there). New Balance really did get it right here. Of course, this shoe will not replace your Olympic weightlifting shoes or your Chuck Taylor's (5mm heel-to-toe drop); however, it is perfect for WOD's that incorporate olympic lifts within them. This shoe is flawless for transitioning from those OLY lifts to anything from box jumps to rope climbs to burpees to bar muscle-ups to whatever you can think of. If New Balance is listening, please never quit making this shoe. Don't even tweak it. Just keep pumping the fresh colors...supple leopard style.

Overall really excellent shoe. Great lifting shoe. Looks sharp even some of the more bold colors. Too bad New Balance changed it up with subsequent versions. Like everyone says size up at least half a size if plan to wear no socks (like it was intended). For me, at half a size up, it felt almost too small but wearable. If you wear socks, size up one full size. It felt a bit narrow as well.

Right out of the box, I liked this shoe. Once I put them on my feet, I liked them more. First off, they're very light and comfortable. Secondly, in spite of how light they, when you put them on you'll notice they're sturdy yet flexible, and minimalist feel is still intact. Lastly, and most superficially, they look good (I have the all black version). If you like CrossFit and dynamic strength training, you will enjoy this shoe.

Nice basic minimalist shoe. I really have no complaints other than they are rather plain looking and they run way small. After reading reviews I ordered a half size up and they were still too small for running shoes. They are pretty minimalist in design with little padding and a very flat feel to the shoe, which is exactly what I was looking for.

I bought these shoes a few months ago and I'm super pleased with them. They're durable, comfortable, dry quickly, and fit well. In most shoes I'm 9 EE wide, and I saw the reviews saying these run small. I got them in 9.5 EE and they fit perfectly.

It's very comfortable. Since it s a cross trainer (designed for lateral movements as well), it provides great support--more than the New Balance Minimus Trail line, which is more focused on uneven surfaces.
In the gym, its grip is good, but it's less grippy/provides less traction than a basketball shoe, for reference.

These are hands down some of the best shoes that I have ever owned. So much so, that I just bought my second pair in a row. I originally got them for Crossfit, but they were so comfortable that I ended up wearing them every day. I cannot recommend these kicks highly enough.

I love the flat-bottomed feel of these shoes; they're perfect for doing squats. Length wise they fit fine but they were uncomfortably snug latterly so I sent my first pair back in exchange for the extra wide ones. That made a big difference for me - nice and snug but not enough too cramped.

Needed something primarily for the gym. I'm an avid gym nut and used to use Asics Gel Kayano's on non-leg days and Vibram 5 Fingers on leg days, but wanted something versatile enough to use on any workout day as well as to wear outside of the gym if I so pleased. These shoes meet all of my needs. At first they felt uncomfortable, but after a couple wears they now feel amazing. Highly recommend them.

Great lightweight shoe. This isn't the most minimal shoe you'll come across by any means, but it is a great option for people like me who have grown extremely sick of sneakers with too much cushion and gimmicky crap under foot. There is a lot to be said for being able to feel a bit with your feet. Also a very quiet shoe, which I appreciate as well.

This is a good shoe for the gym and a good transition to a minimalist running shoe, though I don't know how well the sole would hold up to excessive mileage, probably not very well. But that isn't what this shoe was meant for. I wear a half size larger than my usual 10.5 in most New Balances, so I got this in 11, and they still felt very snug out of the box. But after one day at the gym I was surprised how much these stretched out. I probably could have fit into a pair true to my size after all. Incredible light, airy and cool. I was a little confused by all the padding at the top of the heel, but after wearing them a few minutes decided it was a great feature, making your feet feel incredibly stable and solid in squats. I purchased the all black model and it is without a doubt the best looking minimal cross-training shoe available. Very elegant and restrained, unlike most of the clown shoe minimal available.
