Just got these beauties and unfortunately they just don't fit. They're a 1/2 size too large (I'm normally a size 7, and these were too big) and I could not get them zipped up. I have a 15cm circumference calf and I compared my measurements to some of the other reviewers who had similar sized calves and had no issue. They're beautiful boots, but if you have anything other than slim calves, you probably want to look elsewhere.

These are very stylish boots and I made the decision to buy them based solely on the reviews on Zappos. I typically wear a size 7 and ordered a size 7 in Dark Vintage Brown. However, the shoes felt loose. I really liked the style and leather and wanted to give it another shot. Zappos service was stellar in getting a 6.5 over to me right away. They were tight but I think they would have loosened up after a few days of wearing. However on the right boot, the arch support felt weird. It was uncomfortable. So unfortunately I ended up returning them.

I love these boots, in fact I already have them in brown. I have been looking for a gray boot and decided the style was so good and the fit was so awesome that I would just order another pair in gray. Well, they came in today and I was so excited to unwrap them and wear them, but they are going back. Frye's version of gray is actually brown with a tinge of gray, definitely not gray enough to wear with a gray sweater and jeans or black leggings and a long top. I'm so disappointed.

I have many old favorite Frye boots, and I bought these boots prior to traveling on a long winter trip. They are sturdy and fit great with plenty of room for an orthotic insole, and I liked them so much I left my other boots at home. I waterproofed them with beeswax and wore them nearly every day for three solid months over cobblestones in the rain and mud, and they were comfortable and looked great with everything. I have one serious complaint in that the heel is plastic that is wrapped in leather, and not a true stack heel, so as soon as it gets wet, the leather starts coming off and it looks shabby. I realize they do this to make the boot less heavy but it's a major flaw requiring frequent repair.

The boots fit very well and had a flattering tapered top. However, I didn't like the foot-part of the boot. It reminds me a little of a rainboot, which isn't to my taste.

I have many Frye boots and purchased this one because of the back zipper. I have a high arch and sometimes boots can be difficult to put on. Oddly enough, the zipper did not help. Of all the Frye boots I have, this was the most difficult to put on. Also, I must have gotten a "bad batch." The leather on this one is stiff and plastic-y looking, not like the typical leather. So I am returning.

I really wanted to love these boots and for the price I needed to, but alas, they are going back. They are nice looking and well made but they did not work for me. Admittedly, I am a tough customer due to morton's neuroma and narrow feet. I tend to wear a size 9 (sometimes an 8.5) and the size 9 I ordered was mostly fine; however, these were too tight in the toes to be comfortable for me. Also, the shaft circumference was wider than I wanted. On the size 9 I measured the inner shaft to be 15". The height - 17" from the floor - was a good height for me (5'6"). The style is a bit plain but nice. I didn't like the wide and straight ankle area. All in all a nice boot but not for me, especially at that price.

I wear an 8 1/2 typically but I ordered this in a size 9 so I could wear warm socks with them on the East Coast. I couldn't even slip my foot in there without a sock. The boots are great looking, I will be ordering a size larger.

I love these; they fit well, are super comfy and very trendy, and they look good with leggings, skinny jeans, or tights and a dress. The problem I'm having is the leather seemed to scratch very quickly; I may be calling Frye this week to find out why this happened. I've had them less than a month, and they already look very worn.

I've owned these boots for a year, wear them frequently, but the sole became unattached today on one of my boots. I own 5 pairs of Frye boots, so this was disappointing.

Gotta agree w/ the other review that STTD the quality varies on these boots. Have tried numerous times to order size 6 in the dark brown brush off, only to return them due to leather/stitching being damaged. Not okay for the price of these boots, esp since I know how good Frye leather and workmanship should be. Very thankful for Zappos free shipping and return policy!

These were beautiful boots, but sadly, at 5'8", 125 lbs and a size 9.5 foot, the top of the boot was just too wide for my calves. I have muscular, not skinny, legs, but as the boot gets wider as the foot size gets larger, the calves were just too big in that size. I saw someone around my size wearing the same boots, but she seemed to have smaller feet, and the boots seemed to fit her just fine. Even with jeans, there was a huge gap between my calf and the boot. So sad as overall, they are really pretty and comfortable. Just don't get them if your calves are proportionately small compared to your feet.

The boots would be beautiful and exactly what I wanted except for the non-functioning zippers. Once the boots are on the foot it is nearly impossible to pull the zippers up.

I have these in both black and brown. The quality on the black pair is much lower than the brown pair. I've only worn the black pair a handful of times since purchasing them in Jan. the bottom button on the right boot broke yesterday. The left side one is overly difficult to snap. No such issues with the brown pair. Waiting to hear from Frye on if they will repair them. The only issue I have with the brown pair is the toes scuff. Both pairs are comfortable to walk in and fit well over jeans and leggings. Always get a lot of compliments on them when I wear them.

Beautiful boot, but not super comfortable. There is a weird arch support in the boot, but not in the right place. It's a little further back than it should be. I tried the boot in different sizes, and it still seemed to be too far back. The boot is beautiful and the leather is very soft. The calf was a bit snug for me at exactly 15" on the size 8.5. The zippers were a bit difficult as well. I had to struggle to get them to move, even with my husband's help. Not worth so much trouble to get in and out of, so I had to return.

I bought these in 8 & 9 because Frye usually runs large, but not in these. I kept the 9 because I loved them, but after wearing them, found that I had difficulty with the zipper; for a size 9, I have slim calves so that is unusual. Since I was then stuck with them, I continued to wear them here and there and for the most part, they broke in better than I expected. But! One day I wore them at work (I'm a bartender) for 6 hours and I came home with a bruise on the back of my ankle from where the zipper indents. And the arch support is...awkward.

The boots look and fit great, but the snap on the back will not stay closed. It is very hard to get the snap to click in and as soon as I move my foot in any way the snap pops back open. I am hoping that this was just a random issue with this pair of boots and not an issue with the design of this model. Since it is only happening on the left foot I am hoping that this pair is defective. Going to order a new pair right away and see what happens.

I am impressed with the look of these boots because the leather is a very unique color and it is so soft and supple. I am, however, disappointed by a couple things: The stitching around the zipper on one of the boots has already begun to come out, and I am worried that it will not take much for the seam to unravel if I do not get it fixed. Also, the cushioned heel part of the foot bed does not smoothly taper into the rest of the bed, and it digs into my feet. I was hoping with continual wear that the bed would conform more to my feet, but unfortunately they have only become more uncomfortable. I would give these boots five stars for style, but only one star for comfort and construction. These were my first Frye boots, and I did not expect to feel so unsatisfied with my purchase.

Beautiful boot. But I couldn't justify keeping them because the zippers were so difficult to zip up and down that I was worried I'd bend the zipper pull. Considering the price, that was a deal-breaker for me.

Meh. I typically love Frye boots and have 2 other pairs. These just did not do it for me. They were very narrow in the calf (and I have a thinner calf / chicken legs). The leather was a bit shiny so the boot looked a little too pirate-y. They went back unfortunately.

I really wanted to like these because they are so beautiful, but the fit just didn't work with my feet. They were really tight across the toes and the calf/ankle was too loose on my skinny legs. They looked better when I tried them on with skinny jeans, but still not an ideal fit. I wore them around the house for a few days to see if the toe box would stretch out. It didn't. The leather was gorgeous and I love the zipper and snap details, but for the high price and poor fit they just weren't worth keeping.

Pros: These books look beautiful and run true to size. I have a pair of Harness 12R's, and those I had to go down a half size on. Not these. Your usual shoe size should be good here. Unlike other reviewers, I had no problem with the snaps coming undone. Though I only wore them around on my carpet, so they really didn't have much of a chance to pop open. Cons: The problem I had was that the shaft of the boot strangled the life out of my calves. I didn't realize it was possible to get a muffin top from a boot! Which is a shame, because they really were beautiful. I was able to barely zip them up over thin socks, but after walking around for a few minutes, my knees started turning purple! I am 5'11", have average calves, and never usually have a problem with boots fitting. The zippers were a bit sticky, but not too bad. Slippery soles, too--if you get these, you'll likely want to put some grips on the bottom, or score them really well, or you will land on your ass once you set foot on the snow. Bottom line: If you like the look of these, make sure to order your true size, and double check your calf measurements--don't forget to factor in any jeans/pants you will want to tuck in, too! These will be going back, and I am going to give the Loredo Riding Lug's a try...the shaft on those is much taller, and will be more flattering on long legs (not hitting right at the widest part of your calf, ugh!), and the shaft circumference looks like it will be more accommodating to let my legs breathe, and be able to tuck in pants!

I was disappointed to find that the zipper was placed with difficulty to zip and with no protection against the skin. Also, the soles were very slippery and I didn't expect that. I am sending the boots back.
