I bought these for my 83 year old father and they are perfect for his needs which are numerous! His narrow feet, balance issues, and fumbling fingers that can no longer tie shoes without frustration came even more to light when he needed shoes for rehabilitation sessions after a fall that sent him to the emergency room. He really loves this shoe and with the Velcro, as he can manage the shoes by himself again. I had bought him a very similar lace-up pair a few years earlier which worked great until his hands began to fail him. With all the frustrating issues of aging, it is so nice to find great help like these shoes when you can!

I've been a long-time wearer of the MW811, which apparently is a predecessor of the 812. I'm still wearing my 811s until they wear out, but I've worn the 812s a few times and I don't notice much of a difference yet. The sole on the 812 appears less technical. Looks like it's one piece of molded rubber rather than the ribbed insert that's in the sole of the 811. I like the 812, but I was hoping to notice some sort of obvious improvement over the 811. Perhaps when my 811s wear out and I start wearing the 812s more I'll notice more of a difference. Seems to me you can't go wrong with either one if you're looking for an extremely comfortable walking shoe with the convenience of Velcro closure. If you're ordering a pair for the first time, no matter how comfortable they feel when you first put them on, they just keep getting more comfortable as they conform to the shape of your foot. These are pretty much the only footwear I wear unless I have to put on a suit and tie.

I purchased these shoes for my dad who is diabetic and has poor circulation. The fit is great and he really likes these shoes - especially the velcro.

Bought these for my elderly father-in-law. Was unsure of the size, so I bought 11 regular width and wide, and 11.5 regular and wide. Went with the 11 regular, which is his normal size. Zappos was great for allowing us to figure out his correct size, and for returning the others!

The straps for these shoes do not have the correct amount of velcro on them; do not know if they were made wrong or not. I checked out another pair of New Balance and the complete strap was covered with velcro.

We have bought these shoes for my special needs brother. The hook and loop make it easy for him to put on and his podiatrice says New Balance are an excellent shoe. Zappos gets the shoes to you the very next day! we always buy from Zappos.

I bought these for my 84 year old father who has Alzheimer's Disease and has difficulty tying but wants to walk all the time. They fit right out of the box and he is thrilled with them. I would have ordered white also but they aren't available. it is nearly impossible to buy narrow sizes and then velcro too!

They were the perfect shoes for me. I had searched far and wide and could not find them anywhere.

My husband just loves these sneakers. So much so, they he ordered them in white also. And, he has very wide feet, so they do come in extra wide sizes. Zappos, you're terrific!

My husband said buying the New Balance sneakers with velcro closing was the best thing I could have done for him. Weeks later he is still loving them!

Great pair of shoes. I wanted the velcro straps so they would make a fast and easy way to "lace" the shoes. Zappos is the only place I could find this type of shoe. Love the bone color. They fit great too.

These shoes felt great right out of the box. I wear orthotics due to foot problems, and these are roomy enough for the orthotics and my high instep. I bought the 2E width, which was perfect for my wider-than-average feet. These are very true to size. The "rollbar" and "walking strike path" features give the shoes stability than you can feel when walking. A great shoe and made in USA!

I bought these for my husband to take on a cruise as an extra pair of casual shoes. They were comfortable right out of the box, and he loved them. He did not wear any other shoes the entire cruise! Zappos gets kudos too for their fabulous customer service.

Very happy with these shoes. Perfect fit and they look good. Extremely fast service. We have purchased quite a few shoes from Zappos, always happy with them.

Shoes arrived next day and had no defects. Shoe size fit me perfectly. Velcro fasteners are great for those with disabilities or hand arthritis. Velcro straps didn't come undone when used all day. I use these shoes only indoors.

Quality is good. Felt great right out of the box. Did not need any breaking in. I like that they are not heavy, and the Velcro closure is exactly what I needed as I break in my new Mayo Clinic hip.

I purchased these shoes for my father who has a very wide foot. He found them to be very comfortable. He wears them all of the time. They are very well made and stylish.

I have Parkinson's and need good support, balance and ease of closing the shoe. I was very pleased when I received this NB, as it has all of the above qualities and is extremely comfortable.

I purchased the NB MW812 Hook and Loop for my son who is disabled. He can walk, but it unable to tie his shoes. The shoes fit nicely and appear to be very well made and he likes them.

This is my husband's 5th pair...comfortable, true to size, coordinates nicely with tan pants - casual but doesn't scream "sneaker". As with all sneakers, the sole and inner structure tends to get worn out after a year of daily use! Yikes - there are none available, we have to wait for a shipment!

These are pretty good shoes, but for those of you with very wide feet, be aware - the Velcro fasteners aren't ideal for you. The "hook" stuff on the "lace" isn't long enough to reach the "loop" stuff on the shoe if your feet are wide. When I fasten them, there's only about 2cm of area where the hooks and loops meet. It hasn't been a big problem so far but sometimes they come unfastened because of the small area of connectivity.

I am happy to write and tell everyone that these shoes fit perfectly, are extremely comfortable, the right price and Zappos provided excellent service.

Zappos notified mey size was in stock. I immediately order a pair and promply received them. Fit perfectly. Wide sizes are next to impossible to find locally. Thanks Zappos for making my life easier.

These shoes are amazing. Best walking shoes ever and I love the Velcro closure. Super fast on and off and really tighten up nice and snug.
