I ordered these in the black, and the color is beautiful - kind of a gun metal gray. Plus the short boot shaft makes these boots stylish and unique. Also like the stitching and the side zip for easy on/off. But the boot itself looks too heavy/wide/kind of clunky so I didn't really like the proportions. These might be better for a small woman with small feet! So I'm returning them, still a very happy Zappos customer, always very satisfied with their service!

Gorgeous! Not as supportive as I'd hoped--I tried a pair of too-large Ariat Legends that had fabulous support, but I prefer the shorter height of the Billies. I'm hoping their insert will help.

These boots are more pink than red. The top is also very wide, and if you tuck skinny jeans into them they don't look very good. I returned them.

Super stylish and comfortable! They were surprisingly comfortable right out of the box, no breaking in period needed. They are super hip-just a little country girl flair that you can bring into the city. Only negative is that they make your feet stink! I am told that is common with these kinds of boots. I just threw in some odor eaters and it did the trick. Love them and the amazing Zappos service that came with it!

Was perfect right out of the box. If you have horses and ride a lot, buy this boot. It is SO comfortable...if your horse 'breaks down' you'll be OK to walk for miles!

I have six pairs of Ariat boots. One red, 3 black (short, regular and just below the knee) and 2 brown, including Western R Toe, Roper, Legend and Billie. I love these boots. They give me height without instability. With a pair of good socks they keep me warm in Maine. They also have rubber soles which are good in snow and ice. My favorites are black Billie, which I confess I took to the cobbler to remove the dusting/greying. They fit like a glove. The Roper is less cowgirl boot and more work boot, so does not fit like a glove around the instep. I bought my first pair at a local store, half price thinking I would not be out that much if I did not like them, but I did like them and 4 of the 6 were bought on Zappos of course!

I have all kinds of problems with my feet, including bony bunions and tarsal tunnel syndrome, so finding comfortable shores can be a big problem. My husband, who is obsessed with cowboy boots, bought these for me and promised me they would be comfortable. They are fabulous, without any break in period at all. I now have black ones as well, and wear both pairs frequently. I love them!

These boots are very comfortable and cute, too. I have had no issues with these, I wore them right out of the box, no breaking in period needed.

I love these boots! They are exceptionally comfortable to wear, as well as being very cute and stylish. I ordered my regular shoe size and they fit perfectly with a thicker sock. Worth every penny, and shipping was fast, too. Yay, Zappos!

I love the style of these boots! If people say they are larger than marked, it is because they forget the length of a cowboy style boot is longer through to the tip, at which point it is too narrow for your foot to slip through. It is a perfect fit true to size. The only thing is without socks, my foot slipped a little. They are a bit narrow in fit, but they are as advertised.

Really cute cowboy short boot. Very comfortable and sturdy feel. Runs true to size. "These boots were made for walking" (seriously!).

Love these boots. As cute on your feet as they are in the picture. Terrific under jeans, and not bad in the summer heat because of the short shaft. I'm normally a 7 1/2 wide (and have other Ariats in that size); these were a little tight at first in a 7 1/2 M, but the length was perfect and the boot became very comfortable after a couple times wearing them. Terrific boot!

These boots are amazing! I saw similar boots at pricier stores and then decided to order these. They are made far better than I expected and are so comfortable! Love them!

I felt the color was too pale, the toe too rounded, and the heel space was way too wide for my foot. I have a long big toe and a narrow heel...just didn't work for me.

Really liked this boot, but I decided I want one a little taller, and maybe with a little more color (or darker brown). I was impressed with the comfort! Comfortable footbed, good arch support. As for sizing, my foot is short enough for an 8 or 8.5 but I have a slightly wide toe area and a bunion on my left foot. I sometimes order a 9 in boots because I don't have to worry about my foot coming out of them (as opposed to a ballet flat), but the 8.5 in this was fine. Might have needed to break in a little if I was going to keep it for long walks, but it didn't pinch. One thing to note: the shaft of the boot is very wide, which means plenty of room to get the foot in (I almost didn't need to unzip it), but it also means there was lot more movement in the heel than is typical for boots. I will definitely be trying some more Ariats now that I know how comfy they are!

This is my 5th pair of Ariat, first shorties. I love them, they fit true to size, they are tight in instep and loose in toe and heel, just right for a boot, warm enough for Maine winter with smart wool socks. The only reason for less than perfect review on this is the dusty finish. Maybe fashionable, but I don't like it and tried hard to get rid of it, saddle soap, etc, so took them to old fashioned shoe store to address. Really really a lovely little boot. Good heel height, easy on.

I love the style! I want more colors! I wore them to work a full day the first time and they were as comfortable as sneakers.

The boots are adorable, but they are not comfortable. The sides kind of "wrinkle" into my ankles and it makes walking very painful. They are stiff and not pliable.

Cowboy boots don't look good on my skinny ankles so I had to send it back :(

These are my favorite boots of all time! I am trying to find them in different colors now and I cannot seem to find them. If you see these boots- buy them! They are great!

I'm in love with these boots and seem to wear them almost every day. They go with jeans and dresses and jean shorts and are a great height for me. I'm 5'5" so taller boots sometimes make me look short. They have a zipper for easy on/off. I am a true 8.5 and usually buy boots in 9 to allow for my high instep and socks. For some reason, I bought 8.5 in these and they did take some breaking in before they didn't feel tight. Now I can wear them with socks and have no problem. I suppose if I had it to do over, I'd order a 9. But I kept these and chose to break them in. I wanted "real" cowboy boots and this brand has a good reputation so I figured having to break them in was reasonable. The tightness in the instep and the width loosened up with wear. The first couple of times I wore them, I did get rubbing on my heel. But that stopped within a few wears. They feel like they'd last years and would hold up to use around horses, etc. I'm very glad I bought these!

This is a great basic boot, cute with boot cut breeches, jeans or with a dress and leggings. I love that it has personality, without a lot of cowboy bling. The heel height is perfect. I have found you can't go wrong with Ariat riding apparel. It's a little stiffer than I expected out of the box, and narrow-ish in the toebox, but not to a concerning degree and I think it will only soften up with wear.

These are the boots that you will live in. I have red ones, and I wear them non-stop. They are as comfortable as any pair of shoes that I own, with excellent arch support. The leather is a bit stiff at first - it is supposed to be - but once broken in, they are like custom made shoes, perfectly molded to your feet. Like all cowboy boots, they grab you around the arch while leaving the heel loose. I love these boots so much that as soon as black comes out, I am grabbing it. Ariat, if you are reading this, how about a pair of short boots like the Billie with leather soles, for dancing?

I love these short boots! I have a very high instep and cannot get my foot into regular boots. Having the zipper helps - although I still have to pretty much stomp my way in. The short shaft of the boot is also great for me since I have very thick calves. The boots are stiff, of course, but they loosen up after a few minutes as the leather warms up. I have a wide foot, so the boots are a little tight, but again, this will correct with wear just like all good quality boots. The color is a pink-red, not a blood red, so be aware. I love the color. You need to give them a good cleaning with saddle soap to remove the shipping coating then give them a good rub with clear (neutral) paste polish to keep them protected from weather and soften the leather a little. They take a while to break in, but no blisters or any of that. Just Ariat awesomeness!
