I am picky about my steel toe shoes. I run marathons so sore feet after work is not something that I can have. Shoes have to be comfortable and durable since I am on steel reinforced concrete for 10 hours per day. I have owned Wolverines, Carolinas, Docs, Dunhams, Pumas, Red Wings and more and these shoes have been the most comfortable I have owned in the first few months of use. Keen makes a great shoe and when I found out they made a composite toe shoe I got a little excited. After wearing them I can say they are worth the money. Easy break in (barely any other than a tight toe box). No hot spots. Very good cushioning. They fit in at a meeting or out on the shop floor. The lacing system is not the greatest, but can be fixed by cutting the loop in half or by tucking the end in the shoe. Certainly not a deal breaker. I have no complaints other than the sizing being about a quarter size larger than usual. I wear 11 in everything, but the 11s were just a little too sloppy. The 10.5s were tight for the first week, but broke in nicely and are now where they should be. Don't hesitate to buy this shoe.

My new Keens arrived quickly. They were initially very comfortable for a work shoe. Two concerns: after some wear, they irritate my feet on the top of my toes, likely where the "steel" portion ends, and they are very slippery if there is any oil residue on the shop floor. They are not anti-slip! For a steel toe work shoe, they are more comfortable than most, and seem to be holding up well in a fairly harsh environment. I have been wearing the shoes every day for about one month.

I needed a pair of steel toed shoes and got these. I was stunned--and still am--that a steel toed shoe could feel like a regular shoe. A really good shoe. Everything about this shoe is just fine. Even the weight is better than you would think, and the steel toes are barely noticeable. One reason that I am so supportive of this shoe is that I bought a traditional steel toe at the same time--no comparison! It was laughable. I even wear these hiking. I wouldn't buy them specifically for this purpose, but there you go. They worked.

Second pair good. I work in the office and allot of times my feet feel hot in normal shoes. Theses are great for breathability. I don’t even notice the steel toe at all. Easy to get on and off as well. My first pair I wore the shoe laces right off but the rest of the shoe held together great. Replaced with some paracord until I bought my second pair. Maybe the steel toe helps keep the structure longer. Great grip. I’ll probably buy them again in a couple years if they still make them when these wear out.

Zappos' speedy service astounds me once again. Brilliant concept, a steel toed Keen, I love these shoes though I have not had them long. This is the first shoe I have ever purchased that is strictly for yard work/yard projects, and it seems to be the perfect choice. I live in Phoenix and I am always out in the back yard digging, cutting wood, hanging fenceboards, painting, shoveling tons of dirt and topsoil, pouring concrete footings, planting trees etc. Last weekend I spent all day working on my feet, my thermometer read 115 to 118 in the shade, and my feet did not feel any hotter in this shoe than they would have in a well ventilated running shoe. This is the perfect shoe for trips to the orange or blue home improvement megastores as the toes are always at risk of getting run over by flatbed carts or having something heavy fall off the racks. I have found myself kicking scraps of lumber rather than picking them up, and using my toes where I once would have had to use a heel kick, hammer or fist to knock things into place. I took the advice of the other reviewers on sizing and it worked out great. I wear a 10.5 US in just about every shoe or boot, and the size 10.0 Keen fits perfectly. I always wear orthotics; however, the footbed is so good in this shoe I can go without them, even for extended wear. I will never go back to using old tennis shoes for yard work.

So it's been about 1 month since my purchase. I work on tile and concrete floors. I stand about 6 hours and sit 2 hours on a normal day. For a composite toe shoe it is very comfortable. at first they were stiff as one would expect for a new shoe. They have a funky draw string with a plastic tensioner thingy that I quickly removed. I simply tie them like a normal shoe. They are lightweight with a supporting arch. If you work on uneven ground I would probably recommend a more ankle supporting shoe/boot. The toe box is very nice. I don't feel the composite cap at all. They seems very durable too. The only question I am still waiting to find the answer to is how they breathe in warm weather (70+ degrees). They have a neoprene type lining that holds in heat real well. Might need to carry an extra pair of socks to change into by days end...we'll see. Overall - I would recommend these shoes.

These fit well. I am usually a 10½EE in other brands. The regular 10½ fit well in these shoes. They have a nice roomy toebox. The lacing tightener is a slide lock clamp and it leaves a long tail which flops around. I will probably cut it off. The shoes are stiff and so the low heel, which is unpadded, slides a lot. I needed these for occasional use at work so they are decent. I do not know if I could wear them all day but they are less less fatiguing than some steel toed alternatives that I have tried.

I'm not sure what it is about Keens but I've never understood the hype after trying multiple models over the years. They have always felt clunky to my or have rubbed in odd places. These had such good reviews so I figured one more try for a special purpose work toe in a unique package. Nope. These have got to be the absolute heaviest shoes I've ever handled. I mean they have mesh yet are heavier than my leather boots! There is close to zero arch support which means anyone with a normal foot will probably feel fatigue quickly... However you may never realize this since they have concrete for inserts with no cushion whatsoever. Oh, and as other reviewers have mentioned they put a lot of pressure on your achilles so expect rubbing and/or blisters (as many others mentioned) If Keens work for you in general maybe these will be fine, but I can wear just about anything from any brand and these fail in just about every way... short of the work toe which did actually have room to wiggle in.

I picked these shoes up as I was starting a new manufacturing job. I'm on concrete floor pretty much all day and these shoes are great! Also, the steel toe aspect has saved my toes not once but twice already! The other highlight is that this shoe is lightweight. More than half the weight of my previous steel toe boots. My coworkers were pretty amazed that they were a steel toe so I told them to go ahead and step on it and find out. Now if I can convince them to buy a computer and head over to Zappos to get a pair...not likely. Thanks Zappos and Keen for adding the Utility Line!

The shoes are just what I was looking for. Size was just right, the toe had lot room in it. The arch support was good. I stand all day and they felt good.

Most comfortable steel toe ever. I used to wear the Timberland Mudsil, but this one is ridiculously comfy. Feels like I'm wearing work slippers. Love the quick closure. Real comfortable around the ankle. No break in. We will see about durability in time. I know how to beat up a shoe at work.

These fit well for me providing all day comfort. They are a bit heavy but reasonable for steel-toe. I could not tell if they have puncture resistance on the footbed and I am unwilling to test it. My regular Keens say "Anti-odor" footbed and they really stay fresh. These do not advertise it and I have not had them long enough to really tell. I really enjoyed buying from Zappos after wasting time driving to several brick & mortar retailers.

I was a little worried when other reviews had said that these shoes had rubbed their feet. I needn't have worried - they are as comfortable as every other pair of Keens I've owned (this was the first from their Utility range).

These are the best Steel Toe Shoes I've ever owned. I don't like to wear steel toes because they are bulky, uncomfortable and hot. These are still a little warm but far more breathable than other shoes I've worn. It has been a long quest to find the perfect steel toe shoe and I believe I have found it.

I'm a Foreman at a local Landscaping Co. and I must say these shoes are 5 star for spring, summer, haven't got to fall or winter, yet I would say no for winter or cold weather but these just may be the best shoe I've ever bought in my 15 years of landscaping.

This is my first pair of Keens. I have worn these shoes to work every day since I got them. I took my old shoes just in case these needed 'break in' time. Not an issue. I have to say they are the most comfortable steel toe shoes I have ever owned! I used to change shoes as soon as I got to the car, but I actually wear these home & forget to change sometimes. I will be buying another pair. Wish they made this exact model minus the steel toe - I like the way they look! My first purchase from Zappos as well - excellent service!

I use this shoe working as a merchandiser at a wholesale store. Great foot protection and comfort. Grip feels good on slick surfaces and the steel toe is very nice. The bungee laces only made it 3 months of work and had to be replaced, which Keen doesn't make easy.

Awesome shoes comfortable and and your customer service can't be matched. I wear size 10.5 to 11 in all my running shoes so I would say they run just a little big. I have other Keen shoe products and ordered same shoe size for these which was a 10 and fit perfect. Thanks!
