I purchased these shoes almost 3 years ago, I was searching for a work shoe that would be the best replacement for my full height boots that would both breath and provide protection. These shoes certainly have done the job. I work as an aircraft mechanic on large jets, my job would involve climbing stairs/stands/ladders/awkward structures, positioning self in positions best reserved for advanced yoga classes, crouching for long periods, and walking 5-6 miles (10,000-15,000 steps). These shoes met all my expectations in breath-ability. This of course has been the double edged sword. While my feet on a daily basis have been cool and comfortable, if it rains, your feet will be wet. In fact, if the ground is even slightly more than damp...your feet will be wet. This has been a complete non-issue, as I still have my full size boots for when its rainy/snowy. I'm not just going to say I'd purchase these again, I'm actually on this site to buy a replacement pair for the ones that have served me well over these past few years.

These saved me from having to quit my job! Feb 2010 I was broadsided by van while riding my motorcycle nearly amputating my right foot. Every bone in my foot was broken as well as my ankle. 2 years and 7 surgeries later and I'm doing what the Doc's said I'd never do again, walk normally. I returned to work finally but I have a job that requires me to be on my feet on a cement floor for a 10 hour shift. Steel toes are a must. After spending hundreds on multiple pairs of boots I tried these. These are wonderful! 10 hours standing with no pain. If you have sore feet at the end of the day give these a try!

I work in law enforcement in Tucson, Arizona. With very hot temperatures, hard hot asphalt, and dusty hot desert. I am on my feet, a lot. Needless to say, I needed something supportive, lightweight, breathable, and with excellent traction. I have worn these for 14 months, everyday at work, and they fit the bill to a T. They are cool, comfortable, easy to slip on and off with the tongue and heel loops. I absolutely love these shoes! The lacing system stays snug. I am always sure footed, and have never slipped climbing up an embankment or walking down into a wash. My feet are never hot and sweaty. I used to have issues with stinky sweaty feet... not anymore. I tend to underpronate so unfortunately my Keens have worn on the outside edge and are not as supportive. So it is time to replace them. 14 months! That is a long time on everyday shoes! My only gripe is the lacing system is too long and I have to tuck the straps in. But that is a minor annoyance. After approximately six months, one of my laces started to fray. I called Keen and they sent me new laces, free of charge. That was excellent service!

So comfortable at my job, 3rd shift, 12 hours long. Make sure you order the right size. They are running large, went a half size down. Fits just right, The style is made to run large. If you have to have safety toe, these are the ones. Ordered wrong size but Zappos customer service got me right back on track, these guys are Excellent!

Earlier I bought a pair of Pittsburgh boots for work. Three to five miles of walking on unforgiving concrete floors 3 days per week. They broke in quickly and were as comfortable as and boot I'd ever worn. The steel toes were a must since heavy stuff ranging from cartons of tile to heavy lumber are present. Great! But, when the hot weather came, so did the need for a cooler, low cut, yet protective, work shoe. I tried the Keen Siskyou, but it didn't fit as well: then tried the Keen Detroit, also not as good a fit as the Pittsburgh. Zappo's hung in there and sent the Keen Atlanta Cool. The third time was the charm. The fit right out of the box and were broken in by the end of the second day. I even wear them on days I'm not working or just puttering around the house.
So, if you like the Fit, support and comfort of the Pittsburgh boot, you'll get the same in the Atlanta Cool low-cut. I have popped off the plastic gizmo and tie the two ends to over the top of the sliding clip -- laces hold tight and don't come undone. Great work and knockaround shoes for a senior of 70+. Thanks Zappos for your patience.

Fantastic shoes! These are an amazing substitution for bulky work boots. You can comply with your work requirements in the summer without looking like a goofball with work boots and shorts on! They are ultra comfy and airy. I am a huge fan!

Very cool and comfortable on hot days. I work in a production facility with concrete floors with a business casual dress-code. These shoes look reasonably appropriate and are very comfortable. I wore them home the other weekend to do some landscaping and they worked out even better in that environment. The black color is a little hard to keep clean, but otherwise a great shoe.

Great shoe! I would have bought one 1/2 size smaller after wearing them for a few weeks.
I would buy again in a heartbeat.

Overall, these shoes are great. They are a little heavy if you aren't used to steel toe, but you'll get over that quickly once you realize the benefits of a steel toed shoe. Since they are so low on the heel, they do slip quite a bit. For me, a piece of duct tape worked just fine so that they didn't tear up my ankles (and they will if you aren't careful). The shoes have great support; I stand around on 3ft thick concrete floors for a minimum of 7hrs a day and my feet rarely hurt. I like the low-rise steel toes because they don't look ridiculous if I wear shorts. Treads are deep and provide excellent traction on less than forgiving surfaces. Great shoes - you won't be disappointed!

Bravo! Keen has nailed it. These are the best steel toe shoes I have ever worn. They are light, comfortable, and look great. I would not recommend them for heavy industrial application. These work great in hot weather environments like factories. I will buy more and encourage others to do the same. This is the first time I have ever taken the time to write a review of a product. But they are so nice that I took this time to review.

I bought these for yard work around the house. I love the steel toe. The lacing system makes taking them on and off very easy. I am a size 10 for sneakers, 9 in other Keen shoes. I would recommend.

Overall these shoes seemed like they would be comfy but we were looking for a work shoe that felt more lightweight and these were heavy. They also looked more breathable than they are. Other than that they seem like a good work shoe that is more flexible than most steel toe shoes.

Very very nice shoe don’t get me wrong!! Just a little bit bigger then I though! I could have gotten a 1/2 Size smaller and they would have been perfect! And the lacing system never stayed tight.

i had to order a half size smaller than my normal shoe size. i wear an 11 in every shoe, but it was just too big. i couldn't get the shoe to fit snug and my foot would slide in the shoe. i ordered a 10 1/2 and it fit much better but is now a little tight on the sides. there is plenty of the room in the toe area and i think the sides will loosen as i wear them.
there one issue seems to be the heal. i can't seem to keep the heal tight. my foot still comes out just a bit when i walk. the shoes are very stiff in the sole and this may be causing that, so this may improve as i soften the shoe from wear.
over all i like the shoe. it's more of a hiking feel than my previous doc marten steel toe shoe. they are only slightly lighter than the previous shoe, but don't feel heavy because i am able to tighten the strings tighter all the way down to the toe.
they are an odd style and my kid told me they look like mickey mouse shoes because it does bubble out at the toe some, but in my experience most steel toe shoes do this. it's just more obvious with these.
I'd also recommend:
i would also recommend the dr martens bolt st shoe for steel toe work shoes. lasted for 3 years.

I normally wear a 10.5 but because of all of the reviews I purchased a 10 as well. I must say, I really need a size in between but that’s not gonna happen. I felt a little restricted with the 10 and to loose on the 10.5. Also I do a lot of bending and noticed the 10 was hurting my feet because of that. I’m sticking with the 10.5 for this reason even though it’s a little big. I did notice a weight difference between the 2 sizes. The 10.5 feels “toe heavy” compared to the 10. Anyway... the comfort is... meh ok. I wish the shoe had a bit more cushion. With all of that said I believe this to be a decent work shoe compared to a heavy work boot.

Keens are known for a large toe box, which I need, but I’m glad I got EE width. Most of my foot fits most shoes, but most toe boxes are way too narrow. These have great traction, breathe well, and will be a great work shoe for my job. My only dislike is the lacing system. It loosens up all day long, unlike Solomon’s quick system. The shoe is great, lacing system is not so good but I’m going to look into an aftermarket system or just put regular laces in.

These shoes run a half size big. For example: if you normally wear a size 10, you need to order the Keen Utiliy Atlanta Cool #7742408 in a size 9.5.
I am a mechanic at a large used car retailer. Our property is very large and I cover a lot of ground throughout the day. I work 50+ hours per week. I work like I'm playing a sport that I enjoy. So I RUN from place to place most of the day.
These shoes are low top which is great for being able to run comfortably. The fabric breathes pretty well but still protects against my feet getting wet so far.
The included insoles are ok, but I swapped them for some "Spenco Polysorb Total Support" insoles which I've been using in all of my work shoes.
These shoes are not as light as I expected, but they are not super heavy either. They seem very durable thus far (1 month).
The lacing system seems to loosen up throughout the day. I think in the future, Keen should consider a traditional shoe lace for better security over an entire day. I plan to swap the laces out in mine at some point.
Overall, I like the shoes. If the swapped to a traditional lace, they would be perfect for me. I would buy them again.

Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. The shoes took a couple days to break in and until then I had a bit of discomfort at the top of my foot where the toe bends when walking. I stand and walk all day, on concrete floors, sometimes carpet covered concrete but concrete just the same. By the end of a long day (over 12 hours) my feet are more tired than in my previous Wolverine work boots, but those long days are rare and I like the styling of these shoes more. I am still on the fence about the plastic lace clip - it is quick and easy but I am not crazy about it. Though the shoes are snug enough to hardly even need laces. On some wet surfaces the shoes are quite slippery - which my Wolverine boots never were and that is disconcerting. The overall traction is good, though, and I believe the sole on these may not glaze over and offer little traction like the Wolverine boots did. I would love it if these shoes breathed better than they do. I will say that though my feet are never sweaty inside they and the socks are a bit smellier than with my Wolverine boots. When these wear out I will probably buy another pair.

I have purchased these shoes several times over and of all the Keen's, I like them best.. except for these laces. They need a regular lace system. Each and every time the lace system expires before these shoes do, and then it comes loose and makes the shoes unpleasant to wear. In my experience, Keen's are very comfortable, but they seem to have a shelf life, maybe 6-8 months. After that they do become uncomfortable. I will say I chalk that shelf life in part to the environment I work in(factory), so bear that in mind. For comfort though at the onset I have found nothing compares.

Not wide enough in the toe area. Need a 4e width available. Only a 2e was listed available. Shoe strings serve no real purpose, more of a slip on style. Very strange new concept for me. Great shoe brand experience in the past. I am not fond of this particular shoe, and need a wider toe area.

These shoes are pretty great I am questioning how they will last. I have had them for 4 months and am noticing some wear. The laces are cutting. Zappos is sending me a new pair since they have not seen this before. I hope it's a defect The shoes are very comfortable and have good grip on moist surfaces. I have been wearing Keens now for 5 or more years.
