Before buying these Keen's I bought and returned 3 pairs of Steel toed shoes in the $50-$100 range. These are so much more comfortable than any of them were. I've always had bad luck finding good steel toe shoes, but based on the comfort of these, you could not tell.

If you are looking for a lightweight comfortable shoe these are the ones you want. They breathe well, and fit well too. After trying the Timberland Pro Mudsil, I went straight to these. The Timberlands were way too narrow even in wide width. After about a week, these shoes will be pretty broken in and loosen up just a little, which is nice. They are so comfortable that these will be the shoes that I wear for travel back home from Afghanistan. You will not be sorry after buying these shoes!

I have reviewed the Atlanta Cool favorably, and of the Keen shoes I like them best, for style, but more importantly comfort, but the lace system on these is terrible. Keen, please put a regular lace on these shoes, and start thinking about including a back up pair of laces with your shoes. Almost in every case my laces fail before the shoes. Another factor to consider with these, the mesh can fail sometimes and although it is a plus for temperature comfort, it is easy to cut it or get dirt through it.

The Keen generic yellow insoles are stylish and high quality, however for AW (Actual Work) you need to throw in a silicon pair of work or sport specific gel insoles. Walmart price is slightly better than Walgreens. I put these super soft insoles right over the Keen OEM yellows. This enables you to tower over the proletariats around you and enjoy maximum comfort. Much has been said about the mini-bungee lace: don’t even worry about it: no tying any more!

I've been a merchant marine for 12 years. For those that don't know, being one requires hours on hot, unforgiving steel that's thick coated with anti-slip material we call non-skid. Most deployments are on parts of the planet that reach temps in the 100-130 degree range. My feet and I have become tired of suffocating and drowning in stiff, dark and heavy boots. Imagine a dark-lit cave somewhere in the muggy, hot jungle where the air is stiff and the walls are of ancient lava tubes. This is what it's like wearing boots or safety shoes. Thank you Keen (and Zappos) for delivering these "shandals." They are a lifesaver and a joy to wear. I have never felt the wind blow through my toes while wearing steel toe anythings. The best part is they are ANSI approved! I read other reviews and heeded to the repetitive half size too big comments and purchased a size 9. Perfect!

I wear these on a daily bases for work. They are very comfortable for a steel toe. They fit a lot like other Keens, but they are not quite as comfortable.

Following the other reviews, I purchased the smallest size available. I wish these came in women's sizes, there are few cute and comfortable steel toe shoes -- plus Zappos doesn't have a very friendly search engine when it comes to locating steel toe work shoes for women. My only complaints about the shoes are that they have a drawstring type closure which slips, making the shoe slide around if you are doing anything physical (to include walking), and the rubber soles are very soft -- I've only had these a couple of weeks, but the caster deck has already caused some tearing on the nubby protrusions on the sole. Still, a super comfortable shoe. The triangular plastic part at the end of the laces can be removed to shorten the amount of slack in the laces by trimming them, these shoes don't need much to be able to slip them off and on due to the design. Even with the foot movement, I don't think I'll have the same problems with the liner developing holes from rubbing like with the Timberland Pros I was using before.

This is the second pair of similar Keen shoes that I have. The first was the same design without the hard toe and a little lighter. These are a little harder to get used to, but seem a little more durable.

For being steel toe shoes, these are way more comfortable than I thought they'd be. They don't feel heavy and cumbersome like some steel toe boots I've tried before. After a day or two of travel and work (in Afghanistan) my feet don't feel as tired as they did in my old boots. They seem about a half size too large, though. If you've been walking for a while the pull tight laces might loosen up a bit. Also the laces were way too long, but you can pull off the plastic pull tab and cut them shorter if you need. I've been walking though lots of puddles and rocky terrain and so far they live up to the manufacturer's claims.

Based on my experience with several other pairs of Keens (not steel toe, though) I thought these would be a slam dunk, but no. Not nearly as much room in the toe box as expected. The best I've found are still Timberland Titans - highly recommended.

I bought these sneakers for my son. He had been telling me that his back was killing him since he had gone to 12 hour shifts. He works in a manufacturing plant making dies and his work is physical and requires steel toes. When I gave them the sneakers, he was skeptical but he took them but he also brought his books for backup. At the end of his shift he texted me that his back didn't hurt and his feet weren't sore. He said that they were as comfortable as his New Balance sneakers and his feet didn't get as overheated as they did with his boots. These are great steel-toed sneakers!

I bought these for my husband, who works at Trader Joe's and is busier than ever due to the virus outbreak. He was able to wear them right out of the box, and the lining is removable for orthotics. He came home after a long day and said his feet and legs felt great. Thanks, Zappos, for a fair price and lightning-fast shipping!

I have owed these for a very long time. They hold up very well to a lot of abuse while working. I bought these as summer shoes for work, and they keep my feet much cooler than other work shoes. The only issue maybe they are more likely to get your feet wet in rainy conditions.

Can’t go wrong with Keens for safety toe + style. They are a bit heavy, but not terrible. Comfy for walking/standing 12+ hrs when you break them in.

I recently went looking for shoes that are good for plantar fasciitis, and this was one that stood out. I have historically worn Keen river shoes, and found them to be good in that capacity, so decided to give these a shot.
I have been extremely pleased with them, perhaps even more than the river shoes because these are enclosed with material so do not get pebbles in them constantly. They are extremely comfortable, specifically with the metatomical footbed that supports the arch and foot pads. I have high hopes my plantar fasciitis will respond well to these shoes.
The Keen Utility comes in a variety of iterations, and the Atlanta Cool is an excellent choice any time the ambient temperature is above 65 degrees. They are basically sandals with fabric mesh between the webbing, they run very cool. They are also steel-toed, which seems odd given that it is as much sandal as shoe, but they don't look like steel toes so I guess it's just an added plus.
I rated the shoes three stars for style, pretty much just because I think they look a little silly, but I got these for function not cool factor. I've only ever worn basic black shoes, so maybe it's just me.

I have had Keen Utility shoes in the past. I usually get the Detroit Low but since they have recently changed the tread and the steal toe, it caused me to look at other options. I tried the braddocks but they didn't breath well. A lot of people at my work have Atlanta Cools so I decided to give them a go. I must say, these are the next best thing to what the Detroits use to be. They flex very well and have a good sock like feel. They also breath very well. I would recommend this shoe to whoever use to wear Detroits

These are for my boyfriend, he hates shoe shopping. These shoes have all of the features that he wanted in a shoe, so we ordered them. He thinks they are great, and that it was the most painless shoe shopping experience of his life. He says he would order them again.

Previously, I purchased composite toe safety shoes by CAT. I had to exchange them for another pair of shoes that did not create blistering on my big toe per foot. I bought them a 1/2 size larger plus in a wide width. Wore them for two days, and each day consisting of 9 hours. I did not know other than the toe box was creating this irritation. I needed safty shoes but now did not know which ones, should I first start trying them in the stores before I order online?? Well, I browsed Zappo's vast selections and started reading the reviews, until I came across KEEN. I realized that there must be more to this shoe than style with ALL the positive reviews, well, the majority of the reviews were from customers that had very similar foot problems like myself. So if you have fairly WIDE feet, need good arch support, rely on the CORRECT shoe FIT to SIZE, have a WIDE toe spread per foot, KEEN is the shoe for you. YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY about your purchase of this model of KEEN safety shoes.....PLUS they LOOK GREAT! They have PULL type laces, which in my opinion it is like getting in and out of slipons BUT you cinch the shoe lace up so your KEEN's fit and wear well like they are designed to do. DON'T be RELUCTANT, DO PURCHASE this model of KEEN safety shoes, they are very light in weight for having a STEEL toe instead of s composite toe!!! Remember...only be SEEN wearing a shoe from KEEN!

I've been wearing these for about 3 months & work 60+ hours a week. These are some of the best work shoes for summer. I do commercial HVAC work in central Alabama & north Florida so haveing a lite weight, breathable & water proof work shoe for the heat of the summer months is heaven! Add to the fact that they are steel/composite toe & super comfortable & these shoes are hard to beat. About to order another pair just in case these get discontinued.

Good shoes. The laces, While more convenient for on and off and don't come untied, they do not always hold a firm grip. I'm Talking maybe once or twice maybe three times a day I have to re tighten. I work as my own boss on an old house doing everything from carpentry to painting to crawling under the house. These shoes do all of it well. These shoes are significantly lighter than my other keen utility oxfords which were full leather. I am in the Deep South as well so lightness and breathability is A must. I will probably add some "sole" or insoles from zappos for these shoes while comfortable do not help my feet lack aches at the end of the day, although they are great. I do not know how they will do in a shop with metal shavings which could go through the breathable mesh but I'm not in a metal shop right now and that mesh cuts weight. These shoes also help shed water ok. Don't go stepping in ankle deep puddles though. However, I wore them all day yesterday moist because they got wet in the AM and didn't dry out. Not unexpected of any shoe but don't expect miracles. In summary, for steel toes they are great. Would buy them again or another keen utility again. Keen for life. (Have had timberlands that disentegrated in under a year last Keen's went 18 months)

This is my second pair. Other pair was purchased 4/2012. Worn 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. Best part was I took my foot out of the old pair and put it in the new pair and it was just the right snugness to account for 4 years of wear. I noticed the shoe laces were revised. They are shorter, and should last without the outer shell tearing. I also thought these were a little easier to put on. My feet do sweat in these. Just like they sweat in all shoes I wear. I just wear a good sock. I guess these are fashionable on the job site. However, anywhere else they aren't. I've been wearing a 10.5W for a long time and both pairs fit just as I expected. It was tough paying for the first pair sight unseen out of a catalog. Not so tough for the second pair. Hate to get rid of the old pair. Still some life left in them. But I plan donate the old pair.
