These sneakers fit my mother perfectly. I needed them before she went into assisted living and I received them very quickly in the mail. My mother who has Osteoarthritis can now put on her own shoe. The shoes look great and do not look like the ugly orthopedic shoes. They are also much cheaper.

Just received my New Balance Walker and it is just great. The fit is good and it has a nice wide under sole that helps seniors. The strap could be a bit longer but otherwise I would recommend this made in the USA sneaker.

The good news is that these shoes fit my narrow heel and wide toe box (7.5EE). I could use the velcro straps to keep the toes nice and loose and the heel tight.
However, I also found the shoes to be stiff, taking awhile to break in. I also found the soles to be more slippery on ice than I had expected - the rubber is hard and the grooves are not deep.

I wear New Balance because I need a narrow width, and few waling shoes provide the width I need. This velcro closing shoe is convenient, however, for my high instep, the upper strap is a bit short.

First time for New Balance. Quality construction but extremely clunky looking and felt a little oversized.

Got it in black size 5 1/2 EE to wear for work at a restaurant where I was on my feet all day. Not a particularly cute shoe to be sure, but comfort was the main goal with this purchase, and it exceeded my expectations. This is the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. I had them for four years of near everyday use until they finally got too ratty to wear anymore (but they still held together).

I ordered these in my usual size (11 medium) and it was like squeezing my feet in a vise. My toes were jammed against the front of the shoe. I returned them and reordered in a full size larger, and they did fit. However, the tongue is too long and it felt extremely uncomfortable jammed into the curve of my foot where it joins the leg. Another bad feature was the velcro strap across the instep. It didn't even reach halfway across, leaving a large patch of the hooked velcro exposed. I can just imagine the fuzz, threads, leaves, etc. that would get trapped in that material during normal wear. Extremely disappointing, as I've owned and loved New Balance sport shoes for years and was looking for a style with Velcro straps.
I'd also add that the beige color at least looks decent, but the black color looks clunky and heavy. Even if they'd fit like a dream I would have returned the black. Unfortunately, I'm sending both back.

My mother had wanted a replacement for a similar pair of shoes with a zipper closure (in another brand). When I found those were no longer available, I thought this might be a suitable option for her narrow heel, high arch, and wide toes area. I sent them to her for her recent birthday, and initial reports are good. Her only concern was that the Velcro strips weren't long enough to completely overlap when on her foot. I think that is normal for a foot like hers, so hopefully she'll reach that conclusion as well and be fully satisfied.

The toe is a little narrow for a XW shoe. The real problem is short straps. Too short for people with a high instep.

I got these for power walking and have been a consistant NB wearer for many yrs. I wanted the ease of the Velcro but that didn't work out so well. These shoes gave me blisters on the top of my big toe on the right foot. That area of the shoe was very thick and unflexible. It rubbed a deep blister and I had to wear my old shoes for several weeks with a bandage, trying to get it to heal. After several weeks, the blister healed enough for me to wear the new shoes with a bandage for another week. Now I am wearing these shoes every day. I just never expected to have to break in a NB shoe. Also, when I put them on, it takes several adjustments to get the Velcro right for walking. The time I used to spend getting the tie style shoes adjusted is still taken up by the adjustments of the Velcro straps. Would not buy this style again.

Rather heavy for a walking shoe. Velcro didn't stick very well and it is a rather clunky-looking shoe. It does pad the foot when walking and is comfortable.

I normally wear a 10 WW shoe. Always purchase a 10.5 WW in athletic shoes. This 10.5 felt very short, more like a 9.5 shoe. My toe actually touched the end. It is also very narrow for a WW and felt more like a "C" width. The Velcro strap could not close the shoe. There was a gap on either side. I Love, Love, Love Zappos and I always try to buy shoes at Zappos first. Very sad the few times when I have to buy someplace else. I also buy many of my B'day gifts and some XMAS gifts and have them shipped directly from Zappos. Oh, did I already say - I Love Zappos for super, excellent customer service and tons of selection? Sorry these shoes did not work. Back to the drawing board (i.e., Zappos website)!

My first disappointment of a Zappos/New Balance purchase. I tried these out in the house, as is suggested, and they seemed to fit okay. But, after two 1 mile+ walks, one which was up and down hills and one on the flat...they pinch my left big toe. This surprises me as my left foot is smaller than the right and isn't usually a problem. I will use them for shopping and daily use, but still have to find a comfy shoe for my aerobic walks.

Purchased these shoes for my 89 year old Mom and she tells me they are comfortable and so much easier to fasten. She is quite pleased.

3rd pair, sending this pair back. Bought them in the beige, they wore out in less than 6 months. Have them in black, only wore in winter, they are acceptable size- wise (bought mainly for the hook & loop closure), a 7-1/2 wide. Clunky looking but "okay" for a quick put- on and walk the dog shoe. Now bought them in white, same size, too short. Generally uncomfortable all around, no support with thinner socks even. Can't get an athletic sock into them. Also, as noted in previous review, they are not " premium leather upper": part may be leather but they smell, look and feel more like some type of man-made material, definitely not leather. Not much in the way if support or arch. Still looking for a better made hook & loop closure shoe; tried Brooks (tie shoe okay, not the same style in hook & loop), about ready to give up and put on my Merrell's for Fall & Winter!

I have problem feet and needed a walking shoe with a strong arch support with enough room in the toe box to avoid pressure on toes. I also needed a shoe that had something other than a traditional lacing closure. This is the most comfortable, supportive walking shoe I have ever owned. I can wear them all day.

Tried them on in December but was not sure that the straps were long enough. After wearing them for a few weeks, the straps were fine. They are very comfortable and need no special inserts. I would buy them again.

Overall pretty good shoe. I feel it's about a 1/2 size too small. Also felt the quality wasn't as good as other New Balance shoes.

I ordered a 10 for my mom based on review that said it runs short. But we don't think so. She wears a 9.5 narrow. These seem to be wide for narrows shoe would be great if it were a little less clunky.

These are for my mom (age 80). She has neuropathy and has a difficult time with shoes. These are excellent for her. No problems. No breaking in period.

Bought these to go on a trip at least 1 year ago, didn't want to bother with laces plus needed a wide width for walking. When I got them they were fine, I even got a 2nd pair in black. Now that the hot weather is here, they are very uncomfortable. They don't breathe, I had to check on- line to see if they are leather, because the tag inside the shoe says only " imported material". I don't think they are really leather because even with a good wicking sock, in the heat my feet are sweating. Little arch support, which I didn't notice when I wore them in the Fall/ winter with a heavier sock. I'm not sure if I will keep them any more because by the end of the day, my feet are damp, stinky and hurting. I don't recommend them though they seemed Izk at first.

I have these now in 3 colors. Very comfortable - and the WW is really nice and wide. They are wider than most of their other styles so it fits my problem feet. I take out their inner soles and put in my Lynco innersoles. After 2 wearings they break in and are the best fit. The Velcro tabs are great for when you are shopping and trying on clothes. Only place I do not wear them is to my aerobics class. Sneakers with ties are best for that but unfortunately it is hard to find wide ones.

Don't know what happened here. I've worn NBs from the SL2 last for at least 10 years, but the tops of the velcro straps on these W width shoes didn't fold even halfway over the upward-facing Velcro. They didn't feel as wide in the toe box as they always have, either. Is NB trying to save on materials to keep costs down? I say, "Why ruin a good thing?"
