Love. I have had a difficult time finding a sturdy, waterproof, comfortable hiking shoe that my 'cranky' right foot could tolerate (arthritic 2nd toe and bunion). The toe box is wider than the Keens I used previously but not too wide...both feet like these shoes. I have used these hiking in Alaska and stayed dry and warm and amazingly had no hot spots after days of use.

I love Merrell shoes and I've had several pair of the Moab Ventilators before. Decided to try the waterproof ones this time and they're wonderful! I love the color but if they came in more colors I'd order another pair! Zappos is the perfect place to buy shoes since if they didn't work out I could return them. Shipping was not only free but super-fast. With gas prices being what they are, I will continue to do all my shoe shopping with Zappos.com rather than traveling to a big city and the selection and service can't be beat!

Exceptionally comfortable shoe. Feet don't get tired. Bought these for a long summer hike. No break in time needed. Sufficient room to move your toes so that nothing will rub; though I have a narrow foot. Ankle feels secure. I tried Keens, but they did not feel secure on my foot; heel slipped; soul not as cushioned on the Keens. I also bought the mid calf Moab version, but have not yet worn them to see if they'll be as comfortable.

I have owned these shoes for a month now. Best shoes ever! I live in a rainy place and these are perfect for wet walks with the dogs, a hike in the woods or beach stroll. I did notice they couldn't withstand deep wet grass too long (20 min) as my socks became damp on the top of my foot. Gortex yes, 100% waterproof, no. Other than that, truly a great shoe which I would buy again.

Great shoes -- wore them hiking in Vermont and they were great, definitely waterproof. If a very serious hiker though, probably not your boot, they don't seem built for super intense hiking.

Fabulous right out of the box! Lighter than I'd expect for a hiking shoe but very supportive, not constrictive and comfortable. I wear an 11M but it doesn't look clunky, and if anything runs more medium than narrow. Love the gray and minty green.
Bought them for a vacation to Hawaii that will require some hiking and walking on lava rock. Would buy again.

This is my third pair of Merrell Moab's - I have been very happy with them-and that's why I get another pair when I need a great walking shoe. We do a lot of walking-daily dog walks and other hiking as well. I appreciate the fact that these shoes are supportive, comfortable, and waterproof.

Love these shoes! I normally wear an 8 wide and these fit perfectly. I bought them for an upcoming trip to England and wanted waterproof shoes that I can wear walking on easy trails and around villages on uneven surfaces. I've been trying them out at home walking in the woods and walking my dogs in the rain. They seem to be waterproof and were really comfortable right out of the box. The only negative was that the tab on the back scratches my heal if I wear really short socks and it touches my skin. They were shipped quickly.

This is the second pair I purchased. They keep my feet dry when walking in wet grass with my dog. Fit is true to size.

Took these on a 2 week trek to Ireland (broke them in a little first). Wonderful. Bulky in luggage maybe, but still pretty lightweight. Good and rugged for those castle steps. Kept my feet dry and comfortable. I also packed sneakers (brooks) but truthfully my feet were less fatigued after a day of walking while wearing these. Highly recommended.

I was in search of a lightweight (and cute) hiking shoe for an upcoming trip. I tried the Merrell Moab, Merrell Moab Waterproof, Merrell Siren Sport 2, Teva Sky Lake, and Patagonia Drifter -- and ultimately selected the Moab Waterproof. For reference, the sizing that fit me in each were my true size of 6.5 in the Teva, 7 in all of the Merrells and 7.5 in the Patagonia. Both Moabs were the most comfortable right out of the box. They were cushioning and not stiff, not heavy feeling, despite weighing more than some of the others I tried. The Teva Sky Lake had the slimmest profile, followed by the Merrell Siren Sport. So if not being 'boxy and big' matter a lot, go for these. Both were stiff, though, and I couldn't imagine being in them all day. The Patagonia Drifter was almost as comfy and cushiony as the Moabs, but was slightly more bulky (ie, rugged). There was virtually no different between the Moab Ventilator and Moab Waterproof, even though one is 1 oz heavier. I did not have a chance to test the waterproof-ness since I needed to keep them in returnable condition. I selected the Moab Ventilator simply for aesthetics. This review won't help you with their utility since I haven't worn them outside the house, but it'll give you a comparison on fit, comfort and profile.

I have wider, sensitive feet and was looking for a water proof hiking shoe for a trip to Europe. While, not the most stylish thing on the planet, it is definitely made for walking. I like the support and the room for my toes. The only thing is that the laces come untied quite often.

These are the most comfortable shoes I've owned. I want to wear them everywhere. Since they are waterproof, they are not very breathable. This is standard, though.

Great shoe. Did not have to wear them in. Put them on right out of the box and went hiking. No blisters, in fact was more comfortable than I could have hoped for. As usual, Zappos provides the best customer service of any company I know with uncomparable return policies. Way to go!

I love these boots. I bought them a few days before a recent trip to Costa Rica, when I realized that my 8 year old hiking boots were in lousy shape. I had no chance at all to break them in. I wore them on several moderate hikes (4-6 miles) while traveling and they were incredibly comfortable. No blisters, sore spots, or anything, plus good cushioning. Obviously not the kind of ankle support you can get in higher boots, but for my purposes, these were absolutely ideal. I'm a 6.5 and I bought a 7 and that was just right.

I ordered this and the Columbia Redmond. I like the Columbia shoe better. It is much lighter. The Merrell is much clunkier overall. But this shoe seems more substantial and may be better for a serious hiker, which I am not. I just want a show with traction so I can walk trails without slipping.

Nice boots, but at least a full size too small. Order up and save Zappos the cost of return and yourself the trouble of returning.

I needed a shoe I could walk my dog in wet conditions. They are light weight and flexible. The pink makes them a bit more girlie.

If you have even slightly narrow feet, these shoes will not work. I have narrow heels and have read reviews that said they are better for a wider foot, but I love the brand so much I wanted to give them a fair chance. They look nice, and I was wanting something comfortable and waterproof- but these shoes are wide enough to park a truck in. Even after lacing specifically for my narrow heels, they still slipped out with every step- not at all what you want in a hiking shoe. They have been returned, and I really wish they came in a narrow option!

Do not order a size up! I am always between a 7 and 7.5 in all kinds/brands of shoes. After reading several reviews I was confident that 7.5 was the way to go. Big mistake. Even with a thick sock they were way too big. They are a great feeling shoe with lots of support and stability, however, even with the right size these were just too heavy for me. I hike just about every single day of the week on moderate trails in SoCal, and these would definitely weigh me down. Perhaps better suited for rigorous trails and wet weather. If you are just cruising the hills, these are too much shoe.

Just when I thought these shoes were perfect...this is my second installment in writing a review about them. These shoes are not waterproof. After having them for 6 weeks, and wearing them daily walking through "dew covered" fields they leak! Such a disappointment as everything else about the shoe is great. Just wish that when a manufacturer says a shoe is "waterproof" it really is. This shoe is not!

As a Home Health and Hospice nurse living in the intermountain west, I am on my feet all day in all types of weather. These shoes out perform any others in comfort, style and protection from puddles, ice and snow.
