I wrote a review a few weeks ago that seems to have disappeared. Now that I have a color I can tolerate and have a few miles on them, I feel I can write a review on the actual shoe.
My original Tevas are at least 10 years old. They've done just about everything with me, from kayaking to hiking to beaches, to being the only thing I would comfortably wear when I broke a toe. I finally decided to replace them because the ankle straps kept undoing and the soles were really getting thin.
My first attempt was the only color a local store offered - purple with a hideous pink on the bottom. I bought them because the price was good but after a week of not being able to put them on my feet knowing Teva made other colors. I decided to spend a few dollars more to buy a color I really liked . Note to Teva designers - not all women like pink. If you're going to do pink, please pair it with pink all over the shoe. What on earth was wrong with black soles anyway?
Color aside, the new Hurricanes are much different than 10 years ago. I am a true 7.5 and last time I had to buy a 7 as they don't come in half sizes and the 8s were way too big. That hasn't changed, but the shoes themselves are even longer than they used to be, which makes them more clunky.
The heel straps are now adjustable. I'm not sure why. I never felt the old ones needed adjustment as the toes and ankles already did. I actually have to tighten it to not feel like it will fall off, and that leaves extra strap hanging off the side of my foot. In addition, they are not made evenly and the left one feels like it's too far down on my heel and there seems to be no way to lift it back up again. Especially when I'm driving, I feel like it's about to fall off.
The heels and toes adjust fine, but the ends of the straps are thicker (read: more clunky) then before. In addition, there is already a separation of the velcro from the strap itself, at the very end of each ankle strap.
This new pair feels much softer than my old ones. I realize the old ones had many many miles on them and are likely compressed, but I never remember feeling like I was floating on them before. I'm hoping they break in a little better. The cushioning does not really line up with my arches very well.
I really don't feel these are made anywhere near as well as my prior pair, which I was looking forward to retiring. There's no way I will get 10 years out of these. I'm guessing some major manufacturing changes have been made to save money, which is sad considering how much these retail for.
I will definitely be looking at other brands when I need to buy again.

My foot is narrow, size 10 or European 41. I ordered the 10 and it was too wide.

I wore to beach and to amusement parks and unfortunately the lower strap was cut too high and rubbed poorly. I have had similar style Teva's in the past and this was the first pair that I had trouble with. The arch was not as supportive as it has been in previous sandals. Disappointed in this style.

I usually love Teva sandals. I've many in my lifetime and was hoping that these would work as well. With narrow feet, the velcro adjusting straps is really helpful. However, the sole is huge and wide. Made my narrow size 8 feet look like Fred Flinstone's feet. In particular, the front part of the sole (where the toes are), is so wide that I tripped a couple of times because it caught on corners and the other sandal. Bizarre shape! These will be returned Teva bring back the old shape of soles. Even with my toes fully spread out, the soles would still be too wide and who walks with their toes spread out?

I’ve recently purchased 19 pairs of sandals from Zappos, and returned or will return most of them. I’m including this intro in all my reviews. First of all, thanks Zappos for your free shipping and free returns that allow me to have the equivalent of a personal shoe store. Second, I’ve discovered that my feet have become very sensitive, and I can’t tolerate anything except shoes that are perfectly comfortable from almost the moment I first put them on. My left foot seems to be more sensitive than the right foot, especially to any lumps in the footbed. Third, and related to #2, even though I think thong sandals look great, I just can’t handle the thong unless it’s extremely soft. I consistently take a size 10M, my feet are what you’d call medium volume, and I have low arches.
Teva Hurricane - These fit well, but the straps were awfully stiff. They may have softened up over time, but I have to admit that the main reason I returned them is because they just weren't very flattering, even for a casual sandal.

These are much wider than my original (12 year old) Tevas. I thought the very wide toe area looked unflattering, at least on my narrow feet. I will try the original line and see if they are any better. I thought the material was also inferior to my old Tevas.

Ouch. Great footbed but the straps are so stiff I got a blister just looking at them. They are in right now, but sadly I have to send them back because the straps rub and cut into my feet. Love my other Tevas though.

I loved my old Tevas and have worn them mountain climbing, hiking and walking all day. After all that they are now worn out so was hoping to get new ones as similar to the old ones. But these aren't it. The foot bed is much longer and wider than the old ones so easier to trip over, but most of all the arch support is farther back (closer to the heel) so completely in the wrong place for me. I will be returning these. If the arch fits your foot these would probably be comfortable and supportive.

I had my Hurricane Sandals for years and loved them. I expected the Hurricane XLT to be more like Hurricanes. My hurricanes got a lot of sand in sections of the sole which had worn through several layers and I needed to replace them. These are similar to my original Tevas and do not have the same level of support as the Hurricane sandals that I loved. Support is more important to me than lightness. Maybe for wearing around camp when you are backpacking lightweight would be more important than support.

The ankle strap should be long enough to cover all of the hook part of the velcro. It's a good 1.5' to 2' short. Not a classy place to scrimp on materials. The strap that crosses the ball of the foot is too short too by 1' to 1.5'

I have worn a pair of Hurricanes for the past 8 years. This new pair does not appear to be of the same construction. I am a little disappointed as the shoe does not appear to have the ability to stand the test of time

These run large. Also, they just don't seem as comfortable as the original Teva sandals. Too stiff and broad.

I bought my first pair of Teva's in 2008. I've worn them to paint the house, work in the garden, to work, hiking, kyaking, camping. This is my second pair. They're just as comfortable as my first. They'll most likely last the rest of my life.

These were very comfortable but I had to return them because they looked very wide. I have a rather slender foot and while the adjustable straps held the sandal to my foot just fine, the sandal just looked huge and clunky. There is a border running around the entire shoe that adds on a sizable amount of sole in all directions and if you have a narrow foot like me it looks funny.

Unfortunately, this shoe was painful right under the ring connecting the upper part of the strap (see picture). They are going back.

My feet are narrow and these shoes pinch my pinkie toes at the connecting ring. Also, there are some really wide soles to these shoes. It is like having duck feet. I like the multi-strapped Teva better because they look a bit more feminine and do not have the clownishly wide soles.

I'm sad that these shoes, adored by most on Zappos, were not for me. :-( The sizing and width were perfect. The straps were hard and hurt my feet immediately. I wore them with socks to try to break them in without luck. Zappos is the best with free return shipping, so off they go!

I ordered Hurricanes because the previous shoes I was ordering are no longer available.
I was disappointed because they are a lot wider than the other shoes I have and feel clunky....which make it easier to trip.
I think they were made for Men....and you should not market them to Women.
Where is the old style that was narrower for women?

The straps across the toes cut into the sides of my feet. After wetting them down and wearing the sandals while wet, they dried and conformed to my feet. I think I will really enjoy these Tevas now that they fit my feet.

I ordered the Hurricane XLT, the Terra Fi Lite and the Kayenta to compare, all size 6.5. I have a narrow foot so I wanted to see which fit best. The Hurricanes are definitely wider and thicker, plus some of the colors (like the green I ordered) have a white sole which is not practical at all. The Terra Fi's are slimmer, have less of a border showing around the foot and the straps are much more cushioned. The Kayentas are cute and much more stylish with the thinner straps, but the straps across the toes aren't adjustable. I'm keeping the Terra Fi's because the profile is slimmer, the straps are more cushioned, they fit my narrow foot better and they are super comfortable.

This is a low end shoe from Teva. Not comfortable around the strap areas. My feet are sore after wearing them for just a few hours. Hoping with time they will break in. These sandals are made for a wide foot. They don't look as cute as I hoped they would.
