I am very happy with these boots. They are my second pair of Fryes, so I knew to order my normal size. In general I love the quality of Fryes and find them very much worth the cost. As with my previous pair, these required no breaking in. I love the color, which in my opinion is a little unique. I dress them up and down for a contemporary look. They are comfortable to wear all day. I live in an urban area, so I walk everywhere, and these are one of my go-to stylish shoes that are up to the task without making my feet hurt.

Ordered in Taupe color. This color is very yellow. Shoe was very comfortable but I just couldn't get past the color. Too yellow for me.

These are very nice shoes. The color is a very light taupe and they run very long. I wear a 9 and unfortunately the heel height was too much for bad bones and I have to return them. I ordered an 8½. I could have ordered an 8 with room to spare.

These boots are even nicer in person. The leather is somewhat distressed, which I love. Normally I wear an 8 - 8.5 in a boot. Got these in an 8, enough room left for thick socks. I love the fit because it is somewhat on the narrow side in the heel, which is great for me because closed shoes & boots always slip in the heel on me. Normally I wear a medium, so the toe box fits perfectly. If you have a wide foot, these still might work for you since the laces adjust. The heel is great for walking, too. Not too high, not too flat. Best of all, the boots are nice supple leather so your feet don't look big and clunky. Kind of a sleek, feminine version of a combat boot or riding boot. Love the saddle color too!

I chose these boots because they are lace ups, due to a accident I needed great ankle/foot support. The heel is the best height and due to different size ankles (now) I can lace them each to a perfect fit! I love the style also.

These boots are awesome! They fit perfectly right out of the box, the leather quality is excellent, they are leather lined, and they have made small gouges in the leather sole so they aren't slippery as ice. The gouges aren't something that you feel on the bottom - they just make it so the leather bottom isn't slick. I think the sizing is spot on. I normally wear an 8 and the 8 fit perfectly. I suspect the people saying that they run big aren't used to the slightly looser fit that you need in a boot. I ordered these and the Carson Oxford to see which I would like better. The boots aren't just a taller Carson Oxford - the cut is a little different and the toes look better on the boot. I think they are worth the difference in price (which still seems a bit extreme to me, but hey, you have to get what you like!) I will wear these with my everyday clothes and I plan to use them under long skirts for costuming.

I wanted so badly for these to work. I originally bought a 'size down' as others suggested, but they felt too narrow, especially across the arch, So I sent back and went up to my usual size 7.5. While these felt more comfortable and seemed like the right fit, and looking 'down' on them from standing position, they looked amazing,...but when I'd view them from the side in the mirror, they just looked too silly with the upward curve of the toes. I equivocated for a couple days because I loved the boot so much, but alas, I sent them back. I think if one is short w/ small, thin frame (like me), they are probably going to look too weird. Seriously, I felt they looked like clown shoes from the side view and felt that would attract too much {undesired} attention. bummer.

I was really disappointed in the leather quality for the price... reminded me of a BOGO shoe. Not worth it and need to return

I fell in love with the look of these boots, so I bought 2 pr (in Blk, and in Brn), and following the other reviewers opinions, I ordered "1/2 size smaller" . If they were wider at the toes then I would also have recommended going down 1/2 size. They are definately 'narrow, and I couldnt even get my foot into the {very stiff} Brown ones (likely why they are on sale). The Black ones had a tiny bit more pliable leather, but I found them to be very tight across the top of the foot (where the 1st shoelace holes begin). Just an FYI, I have very slender (no fat) feet, but I do have a spatula shaped foot that goes wider towards the toes. I wanted these to work so badly but I had to return, as I knew wearing them for any length of time -they were gonna hurt. They are also a big pain to get on and off....I think because of the narrow shaft (and the shape of my foot).

Not for me, a petite person with slim legs, though ok if it’s your style! Toe curves up a lot though.

I bought these shoes in an 8.5 and they were really huge! I am a true 8.5. I returned them for a size 8 and they are still quite roomy. They are however, a lovely pair of shoes and I will purchase them in black also!

Have owned these for about a month and they're now my favorite pair of shoes. Ridiculously comfortable. The break in period was pretty short - maybe 2-3 wears - and now I can walk for miles and miles without the slightest pinch or hint of rubbing. Stunning shade of brown - they look great with just about any outfit.

FAV BOOTS THIS YEAR, MAYBE EVER! I tried these in black in DC last year and thought they looked WITCHY. Ordered these in Chocolate in 8 and oh my god....LOVE. I feel they run 1/2 size bigger as most Frye's do for me. I have thin ankles, flat feet size 8-8.5. These in 8 with thin socks are still roomy in toe box(Can wiggle freely) but not to point they are sloppy. BEWARE though don't walk fast on tile or you'll break a hip or bone..SLICK.

I bought these shoes to wear to work and wow I was beyond impressed with my purchase. These shoes are timeless looking and go with everything. You can dress an outfit up with these rather than wear combat boots. Overall its a great purchase. The toe is long so the sizing could be a problem for some people who are inbetween sizes.

I fell in love with these in Atlanta while on a trip and kept coming back to the store to try them on. They are incredibly comfortable- fit like a glove and give excellent ankle support. I usually wear an 8.5 but went with an 8 as the rounded toe is a bit long so I'd size down a half if you're considering. I agree the bottoms are slick but I think in time, with wearing them outside, that will toughen up a bit. I've worn them with jeans, leggings, and a dress- they work for every occasion! Love the vintage look but modern fit.

These shoes are really beautiful and incredibly comfortable right out of the box. I'm usually somewhere between an 8.5 and 9.5 so I was a little nervous about what size to get. I went with the 9 and they are perfect. Plenty of room for my toes if I don't wear thick socks. But all of the other reviewers are right. These are crazy slick! I slipped and fell the second I walked outside and scuffed them up a bit. But they are so great that I could not bring myself to dock a star for it.

The size was a little big, but I prefer it since I wear the boots with socks. Great color and perfect heel high. It looks feminine and modern with a twist.

Love these boots, nice leather, very well made quality boot. They fit like a glove around the ankle and instep but there’s room for toes to breathe so they’re comfortable. I like them with cropped straight legs.

I wear a 10.5 and very few shoes are available in 10.5, so I have to choose 10 or 11. I went with 11 on these and I'm glad I did. They are very comfortable and don't bind my toes. My feet are narrow and often that's a problem when sizing up, but these boots were nicely narrow even though a little long. i also have very high arches and my feet get tired when I wear flats with no arch support. These have very good arch support, my feet don't get tired and I feel like wearing them all day. The boots have all leather uppers and stiff layered heels - I expect them to last more than 10 years. I appreciate that they came with nice quality laces as well. I wear these boots walking, to work, to parties, even out at night. They are comfortable throughout the day.

I never liked the look of these online, but when I tried them on in person, I completely changed my mind! They look great on my feet and the quality is excellent. In Frye boots, I'm reliably a size 8, and these are true to size. My feet are slightly wide. These are comfortable w/ no pinching or rubbing anywhere in the toe box. In the pictures, the toe box looked elongated, and the opening at the top looked too narrow. In person, they're perfectly balanced, and very versatile. If you're on the fence and looking for a lace up ankle boot with a low heel, give these a try.

These shoes are perfect. The only caveat is that you MUST get rubber put on the soles and heels. Otherwise the soles are uncomfortably slippery AND they will wear through (rather fast). This will cost 40-50 bucks. Once you had done that you will own the most comfortable pair of shoes that have every been made. They are the perfect height, the perfect softness, the perfect breathability. I have walked 25,000 steps a day weeks at a time all over Europe (many times) and my feet feel absolutely fine the entire time. I couldn't do half that in any other shoe I have ever owned (running shoes included). I really feel invincible in these shoes. Make sure you get the right size. I am 8-8.5 and I initially though I was an 8.5 because they felt so great but then realized the 8s were even better.

I just got these for my birthday and I love them! They're a little long (which I've found in all frye boots) but I'm still obsessed. I wanted a boot that was like a combat boot but not as tall and these are perfect! Great with jeans and dresses! I got my normal size ( a 9) and i can wear a pretty thick sock with it.

Just received my Carson lace up Bootie shoes and love them right out of the box!..These shoes are another very well made Frye shoe .. they are made of a beautiful quality, soft leather. Design wise and I would describe them as very currant with a play on vintage. These Carson lace ups are very comfortable so far and I know in time they will break in even more and compliment the feel and look of the shoe...I ordered them in my normal size of 7 1/2 and I would say they are a nice fit for a medium width foot with a warm sock and still room enough for comfortable movement when walking.. I also feel as though they can accommodate a wider foot as well given the soft leather. I like that for a semi pointed toe, there is Plenty of wiggle room for your big toe:) Cant wait to wear them with jeans or a dress as I find them to be rather versatile. Overall very happy with my purchase and now I want them in all the available colors:)!
