Great for casual walking, shopping and work. Not so great for walking my dogs or running because of the lack of cushioning.

I bought this exact shoe and size at REI and it was the best shoe I ever owned. For some reason the pair I got at Zappos does not fit well.

I liked the overall look of the shoe. It was a sleek looking shoe, and I loved the way my foot looked in them! My toes had room to move around, and the width across the top of my foot felt great. The problem area for me with this shoe was in the ankle. Unfortunately, the elastic band hit me right below my ankle bone, and each time I stepped the band rubbed across it. I really wanted to make this shoe work, and I wore it around the house to try to get my ankle used to the band. However, my ankle would not cooperate with the shoe, and I have placed an order for the Bare Access 2 instead.

I love these Merrell trail and road barefoot shoes, but this particular style wasn't the best. The materials felt cheap. They run a bit smaller than their other styles.

I fell in love with this shoe instantly upon putting it on my foot. Then after a bit of wear, I dread putting them on my foot. See that little corner on the side? That is shaped just perfectly to cut into your foot. It cradles that little bone and just tries to saw it right off, which is in stark contrast to the way it babies the rest of your foot. The rest of my foot was in heaven, my ankles were bleeding. I kept at it, thinking the shoe would soften up with time. That part doesn't seem to wear-in. I'm going to end up sewing a little square of soft fabric in there if possible, which is a pretty lame thing to have to do to a pair of running shoes I paid a good deal for. Maybe if your foot anatomy is different you'll have better luck. But if your feet are like mine, you're gonna have a bad time.

W-a=r-n-i-n-g-! These run small. Even though Zappos makes returns as easy as possible, it is still a pain to have to return and reorder. I ordered these a half size up because of reviewer suggestions but my toes still touched. Now i'm wondering if I order up another half size how it will effect the rest of the fit. I wish Merrell would stay consistent with their sizing.

These shoes were recommended by my qi gong master. They are good looking and fit well, however, due to the negative heel and lack of arch support, I was in pain after just walking around my house for a few minutes. So they are unfortunately going back!

I didn't think these were cute compared to the Skechers Biker. Plus, they rubbed my ankles.

I can't comment much about the comfort of these since I didn't wear them but a minute. They were definitely too small/narrow. Since I wear a size 11 I can't go to a larger size. I could try the wide (Zappos is out of stock right now) and hope that the extra width will take care of what feels like a too narrow and short shoe. They are cute.

I really wanted to love this shoe, but the arch was set too far forward in the shoe, making it grossly uncomfortable (not an issue I've ever had before). As far as sizing, I am always a size 9 and the size 9 fit with and without socks.

Not for long-toed girls! My 2nd toe is longer than my big toe and when the 1st pair I tried in my normal size (8.5) was too short, I ordered a 9. But my 2nd toe still hits the end of the shoe -- I've never had this happen with shoes before -- really, my toe is not freakishly long! O_O Also, the arch is a little far forward for my foot. So, for a pricey shoe, I can't give it a great rating. It's going back.

I like and dislike these merrels. Love the light weightness and comfort of them but find them very difficult to get on.The heel has no backbone in it so it's a struggle to pull on with the elactized opening.

My sister recommended this shoe as a comfortable everyday shoe - she walks a lot in daily life, I have a toddler...unfortunately it didn't work out for me. Shoe is super cute but the arch seems to be in the wrong place for my foot and the toe box is enormous. Now I like a roomy toe box but it is just too much for me. I'll send 'em back for my credit. Love Zappos for this reason!

I bought this pair of shoes to prepare myself for a long day of field photography. They felt good and comfortable in the beginning until after a few hours they felt like my toes were pushing more towards the front of the shoes and that's when the pain on my toes started.

My usual size was too short, so I re-ordered a half-size up. Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem of the stationary cross bands, which are too snug. So... I returned them.

I was really disappointed when I tried on this shoe and the arch was too far forward on my foot. This doesn't happen often so I was surprised. Overall the look of the shoe was nice but now I'm off to find a better fitting barefoot shoe.

I loved the look of these shoes. I could wear them with athletic wear as well as with jeans and a nice shirt. Unfortunately they did not work out for me. As it turned out they caused my feet to swell.

These shoes feel at least one size smaller than what I am used to! Sorry to report that as I adore Merrells!

After reading many glowing reviews of these barefoot shoes, I decided to try them. My usual size 8 felt tight, so I tried 8½, but they still felt odd. Not uncomfortable, but different enough that I was conscious of every step. They seem like great shoes, but I guess I am just not a candidate for them. I bought the new Nike Free 4.0 V2 (just out) instead and they are exactly what I was looking for. A barefoot feel, but with lots of cushioning and support. Thank you, Zappos for being so cheerful about the return.

Extremely comfy, would love to order more. However, after light use (gym, walking around town on weekends) the stitching is unraveling and they are generally not that well made. This would be fine if they cost $50 but for this price they should be more durable (e.g. I've been wearing my Salomon trail sneakers for a year with minimal wear and tear).

Loved the shoes but had to return as they're very tight across the instep. I have a high instep and these have an odd lacing system that allows no give across the top of the foot: webbing crosswise on the tongue comes through the lacing holes, creating loops for the laces. The system allows little to no room to loosen the laces. If you have a normal instep, probably no problem.

If you have knee problems, do not buy these. I hate to say it but it's true, they are comfortable and I always get compliments on them, however my knee kills me afterward. I'll stick to the free runs for my own version of bare foot shoe.

I had these for 5 months and LOVED them. I run about 10 miles a week on the treadmill and road and I love these and they're cute! However, after 5 months the sole began to separate from the upper around the toe box. Zappos sent a replacement pair (Thank you Zappos. You rock.) and now the new pair, just a few weeks old, is having the same problem. Grrr.
