Just what they promise! Light weight and natural, barefoot feel. I have wide feet(EEE) and the wide are a great fit, no need to go up a half size. Haven't hit the trails yet but they are quickly becoming one of my favorite summer shoes based on comfort.

I'm 6'6 tall and 275lbs at first the barefoot trail feel very different from what you are used to. After wearing them working out for two days I love them!

These took a bit of getting used to. But I feel it's been well worth the effort. I really like running/walking in these. I wanted to increase the strength of my feet and improve my balance. It's been just a few weeks. But I can already feel some improvement. These have to be way bettor for me than walking around with my feet encased in a standard running shoe (cast). Plenty of toe room. The best I have in this regard.

Incredible product! Plan on a size 1/2 down from your usual or else they will have a bit too much room around the toes and it time stretch/open up a bit and you won't find the same 'glove-like' fit. Lightweight, durable, and perfect for all kinds of activities.

First, let me begin with I am not a runner, and have not run in these shoes. That said, I loved my first pair so much, I now have 4 pairs. They are very light, breathe well, and have extremely durable soles. I am very hard on shoes, and almost always wear out the soles before anything else, and that was absolutely not the case with my first pair. Don't tie your shoes too tight or you will immediately regret it. Other than that, definitely one awesome shoe.

Great compromise minimalist shoe. The plate really helps protect feet from rocks while trail running. No arch support - but not supposed to have it!

I love this shoe! Close to barefoot experience like the Five Finger, but with a normal appearance. I even wear a pair every day with my casual work attire, as the black is fairly subdued. As other reviewers have stated, the shoe has a snug fit. I have to loosen the laces to get my foot into the toe box and then tighten up the laces to fit. Thus, its not a shoe you can slip on quickly, I have to sit down to put them on. But quick entry isn't an important criteria for me. Its an ultra lightweight second skin for my feet. Love them!! I'll definitely buy these again.

Just as the name implies, it fits like a glove. It breaths well because the mesh is truly mesh, the Vibram soles are awesome, as you would expect from Vibram. Quality is excellent all around; I expect these to last me a long time. Due to the tougher, trail-capable sole, the barefoot feel is reduced compared to Vivobarefoot shoes or other flat and ultra thin designs, but there isn't any way to get both off road grip and excellent surface texture feeling. The sole is a little stiff under the toe box for a barefoot shoe, but it's forgiven since everything else is so great. There is a very little bit of padding in a built in insole if you can call it that, but not enough to promote a heel strike; more like walking on earth instead of concrete. Regarding the arch, you can feel it, but like a glove, it provides no support. At first I wasn't sure about it, but I am completely used to it and even like it: no extra material hanging off from my arch. Also, I really like the subdued look of the black/grey version; not to flashy for going out to a decent restaurant or some other occasion where most flashy athletic shoes would be inappropriate.

I just conpleted the TRT 50 mile race in these. I love these shoes. My first pair held up for 800 miles before wearing the sole smooth the uppers are like new. I did a 17 mile long run out of the box with no socks. It takes time and a little patience to transition to minimakist trail running but for me it was well worth the effort. My terminal plantar fasciatis and runner's knee are cured due to proper form of minimalist shoe running. I almost forgot about the liberal toe box. I hope Merrell never stops making these

These shoes feel great. They are light weight with a tough tread but not stiff. They are a great alternative to the Five Fingers for those who don't like their shoes between their toes.

I'm not a runner, but I've been using Vibram KSO's for novice working out and weightlifting training to get a better feel for the floor and balance. My neighbor showed me his Trail Gloves as his preferred alternative for running. Once I had the Trail Gloves on my foot, I knew that this was closer to what I wanted from my KSOs. Having the wide toe box in the Trail Gloves allows for all of my toes to really feel each other instead of being isolated for no good reason. The feel of the ground in the Trail Gloves is very, very similar to the KSOs. However, the Trail Gloves are a bit tougher on the bottom than the KSOs and I imagine these are closer to the Vibram Sport models with the tougher soles. These shoes are great for barbell workouts and provide a great feel for the floor. While I think they run true to size, they are a snug fit. I believe that they are supposed to be that way. Overall, I love these and would buy them again in a heartbeat.

I love these shoes. I use them for cycling. They are comfortable. I had trouble with my toes cramping up in my old shoes - now I can ride lots of miles and have not had a toe issue - my feet stay cool and comfortable. They have the barefoot feel so a little uncomfortable when walking on a gravelly/rocky surface.

I started barefoot running 3 years ago, but could never use them on trail because they had no traction or protection from stones and roots. These Merrell shoes work great! Just enough protection, just enough tread for traction, but still keep that barefoot feel with tons of toe-wiggle room. I love these shoes and run in them all the time. The only drawback is that I have very narrow feet and had to use an extra insole to take up space so the eyelets didn't meet.

Short and sweet. Great shoes. Very minimalist, much like going barefoot but with some minimal sole protection. True to size, lots of room for your toes to spread out if barefoot running in the shoes.

After receiving the women's Merrell Barefoot Pace Glove I just knew this was the shoe for my boyfriend. Lightweight, and made to fit the shape of the foot and to enable your body to stand, walk and run the way it was designed to. (I know like isn't that the point? But this shoe will prove that other shoes are just made wrong!) Please give these shoes a try. Zappos rocks!

Please note that if you are trying barefoot running for the first time, you need to slowly begin training first. Make sure you don't try running long distances unless you already know how to run barefoot. I still am working on getting back up to my original distances, and it has been over a month since I got these. The shoe fits overall a little big, but I haven't had any troubles with it being uncomfortable.

These shoes reminded me of those slipper like track shoes I had as a boy with tiny heels. Now I'm old and have arthritis in my left metatarsal arch. I thought these shoes might help and they do greatly. Something about the barefoot action makes the swelling and pain go away. No surprise these are now my favorite footwear. The tight arch took some getting used to but after a few days the slight discomfort disappeared. I bought a half size smaller than normal but now I don't think that was necessary. I think a little extra room in the toe box might be a good thing. I already had Vibrim 5 finger KSOs which feel good, but as previously mentioned the weirdness factor is an issue. I wear Merrells everywhere without feeling self-conscious. Also, the Merrells are a little thicker in the sole and protect my feet without losing the barefoot benefit. As a life-long fitness nut I'm hopeful that these shoes will allow me to run again.

Great shoe! Good way to break into minimalist running. It was everything I was hoping it would be. Sizing was the only issue. I have wide feet and usually wear an 11 in med. width shoes. Ordered a 10.5. Should have gone with a 9.5 0r 9. Because of their minimalist profile they still work fine. After all it's about barefeet anyway. Great feel, form and function.

These shoes are great! I normally run in Nike Frees on the road but since they don't have much traction in the mud, I needed to try these out. They felt somewhat true to size for me but I do usually wear my shoes tight. They seem durable and are certainly comfortable. I have only worn them in trails and if the trail is laced with sharp rocks, it is best to avoid them. I've caught a few 'stingers' to be sure but it made me be a little more careful with my foot path and I have gotten used to it. I definitely recommend these shoes.

These shoes are amazing, bottom line. I have been faithful to asic gel running shoes for both road and trail and didn't realize how constrained my feet and toes were until I wore these shoes. These fit differently than typical shoes in the sense that the middle of the shoe grabs your foot and then the toe area is wide open to let your toes move freely. My asics basically had all of my toes jammed into the pointy end and they were not able to move. It feels like you are grabbing the concrete with your toes and running through gravel and terrain is an awesome experience, very responsive. Warning. These will kill your calf muscles initially. Whatever your typical run is cut it in half for the first couple of runs and work your way back up, you will still be sore, but it is a good sore like going back to the gym after a long break. I will never go back to typical running shoes.

They're very comfortable, but impossible to wear with socks. The lining sticks to them and pulls the sock when you put your foot in.

This shoe was very comfortable without any need to break it in. The only down side was the sole started peeling after only about 20 miles of running but this was easily fixed with a bit of shoe glue. Other than that I have been very pleased they are great shoes.

I really love these shoes. Fall of 2011 was when I began running. I ran cross-country with conventional running shoes. I got into the whole barefoot running thing the following summer after running a couple of half-marathons. I have very wide, feet, so with the last pair of running shoes, the side was actually burst out by my toes. These are nice and wide, and they don't have just mesh on the side. I also have very large feet, so I got size 14, their largest, and I felt that maybe they weren't perfectly put together. The right shoe-lace acted like it was sliced in half when I first got them, so I just replaced it with the lace from my last shoes. I ran cross-country again this fall; it got a little more intense. With daily running on tarmac, grass, rocky ridges, gravel tracks, and through creeks, they held up very well and dried pretty quickly. In addition to training with these shoes, I also raced with them, shaving off 1:30 off my 5k time. While I can't entirely attribute this improvement to the small weight of the shoes, I can't say that they slowed me down. Last spring I met a thru-hiker of the Appalachian Trail who was wearing these at about 150 miles in, so I'd say they're pretty sturdy for hiking too. With minimalist shoes comes a new running philosophy: ask for just what you need from your shoes (minimal protection from obstacles), and be flexible (like the sole of these shoes). All in all, these shoes may not be perfect, but they really work, and I still use them for whatever the need may be.

I bought these shoes after much thought about whether the barefoot concept was for me, a 60 year old, in shape, outdoorsy guy. Have not regretted my decision. Love 'em. They never gave me a moment's problem. I wear them everywhere but to church on Sunday morning, now Sunday night is a different story, they're on my feet. Let me say that was until my 16 year old grandson "borrowed" them from me. He loved them. So what can I say, I'm here to buy another pair. I'm going to put these under lock and key when they're not on my feet. Mr. Happy Toe Nails.

I was trying to love these shoes, but a few issues with it made me return it. On the inside, where the tongue and toe box area connect (the bottom of the tongue), the seam stuck out and would cause abrasion both with and without socks. The shoe was also fairly narrow in the area just before the toe box (it would hug the outsides of my feet just before the pinky toe). My foot is, however, wider than most people's, but I doubt the 1/8 inch difference between the regular and "wide" versions would have made much of a difference. The sole was fantastic though, providing enough protection from all situations while allowing some ground feel (great for biking, especially with the rock plate). Overall, if I had narrower feet and the tongue issue was not present I would certainly have liked these shoes, but alas, I could not. I ended up buying some Vibram FiveFinger KSOs instead, which have served me very well.
