Wasn't very wide. The vamp (part after the laces but before the toes) was so tight, though I suspected it would loosen up after time. My foot kept sliding up and down in the heel when I tried it on. I dare not try a Narrow version of this boot (same size). I usually can wear a 10W but I had tried that one before and it was way too small.

I can wear a 10W in most brands but I couldn't even get my foot inside it.

I got both Troopa (this one) and Tropa 2.0 to compare. As for this Troopa, I got Black and Brown 9.5w. There were slight differences with fitting, somehow Brown one was definitely (but slightly) longer than Black. Not sure if that was only this size/pair I got or not, in any case it just happens with any apparel products, no biggie, I reordered Brown 9w and I think I will keep 9w. Usually I am happy with 9.5w for most of brand (especially Clarks), but this Troopa size 9w still gave my feet a good space around toe fingers while still tad big/slippery around heel. Since that area does not stretch much, I think I can get away with thicker socks/tightening shoe laces. Style-wise, I like Troopa better with the classic/feminine details compared to Tropa EXCEPT the fit around the ankle; Troopa is wider than Tropa 2.0. Sole/arch support is ok so I would put some insole or again live with thick socks for extra cushion. Also Tropa 2.0 is more casual and heavier but I sometime need that kind of rugged soles/styles too. I am still undecided whether I keep both Troopa and Tropa2.0...leaning to I would keep the both since it is not easy to find a good style AND good fit at the same time!!

My last pair of Steve Madden Troopa boots, from a year or so ago, are so fabulous, I ordered this pair in another color. Unfortunately the quality and construction have gone WAY down. The sizing is erratic, the workmanship is crude and sloppy, and they redesigned the tongue, which used to be neatly secured in the front. I sent for two sizes and ultimately sent both back - the quality was too poor, and while 8 1/2 was almost too tight to put on, the 9 was miles too big. RIP my favorite boots!

I purchased a 9 wide, which is my normal size. They fit well but were not overly wide at all so might feel narrow for some.

These boots are just plain crap. Cheap leather, cheap stitching and laughably, the tongue isn’t even leather! Bought on a whim and returning because they’re just awful. I’m sticking with my Fryes.

I am usually a 9 and did a 91/2 and they are perfect. I have tons of Steve Madden shoes and would say to go up a 1/2 size on the Troopa. After the 3rd or 4th time of wearing they are much more comfortable. Super cute on.

I bought these boots years ago and loved them. I just tried them on and I’m pretty sure they’re a lot smaller than the same size and width I bought years ago. I can fit them on my feet and hopefully with some wear they’ll stretch out a little and got better.

I have a wide foot so this worked but wish it was a little wider. Love the color and zipper on side is great!

I love the style of these boots but, for this price, I would have expected to wear them for at least a few months! I could not wear them for more than 3 months for light walking (not everyday, though!) before the heel and sole broke! I am so disappointed at Steve Madden. The boots also look very cheaply made.

I like the color, height, and cut of the boot, and it feels true to size. The reduction in stars for overall impression is due to the strong chemical odor the boots have. I was able to try them on and walk around the house in them for a little while, but they've been airing out in my garage for the past week and the smell hasn't quite faded away. I'm sure they will be a staple of my cold-weather wardrobe, but not until they no longer stink.

The fit is excellent.

DON'T BUY THESE! The sole and the leather came apart at the seam of the shoe (where the leather meets the sole. There's no way to repair that. IT'S SO DISAPPOINTING.

I bought these based on online recommendations, using these boots for a costume of the Thirteenth Doctor. I've tried to avoid buying shoes online because sizing can be tricky and I often don't want to deal with returning duds. But I know that Zappos has an excellent reputation for customer service, including relatively pain-free returns. So I hedged by bets and bought two pair of these boots in the same size: one wide and one regular-width. My feet are weird and I often have to wear 10 W. Not with these boots. The regular ones fit just right, so I didn't even bother trying out the wide (and sent those back with no problem). I think they'll make a good addition to my costume. Thank you!

Very cute but not much support. Worried about all day comfort.

I’ve now bought these twice for my daughter and am kicking myself for not just investing in a more durable boot. The zippers on both pairs broke after less than a year.

This is the second pair of the exact same boots. My first pair lasted 8 years! I LOVE them and was thrilled to see they still make them!

I bought these because I was looking for a true combat boots and finding them in my size is hard to come by. These are more of a English style lace up riding boot rather than a combat boot. They look to be very nice quality but we’re a little too stiff looking for my liking.

I like these boots! The leather is soft and comfortable right out of the box. I used my own inserts for arch support.

I loved my first pair of Troopas. They lasted years even though I wore them all the time. Apparently they don't make that color anymore, so I went with the brown. They must not "make them liked they used to." These feel cheap. After just a few times of wearing them, they are already chipped and they look incredibly worn. And somehow what is even worse, is that they make this ominous squeak sound when I walk. Like, it sounds like a boat scraping up against a wooden dock, but not in a relaxing way, in a way that you feel like something really bad is about to happen. I'm pretty disappointed.
