These were a Christmas present for my daughter -- she loves them! The color is great and she wears them frequently. Seem to scuff easily, but they clean well.

My daughter LOVES these combat boots! Only issues is they need to be buffed once received. The factory did not do a good job cleaning off top layer of shoe polish. Otherwise, the boots are a home run!

This boot is nice. It's not tight around the leg at all. It's a little on the looser side which is what I wanted. It seems looser than in the picture. You can wear thick socks and/or leg warmers without the boot constricting your leg. Also they look amazing. They can do-up an outfit and they can also be very casual. They go with just about everything. They seem fairly durable as well. They're not heavy duty sturdy though. They're fairly comfortable. Also there is not really any grip on the bottom of the boot towards the front and only the heel has grip. But once the bottom gets scuffed up a little there really isn't any problem. The quality is decent/good but it could be better considering how much they cost. But if you value style than it's worth the money.

I purchased these boots recently because they looked very cute online. I got them in the brown leather, and I was really pleased with how they looked in person. However, when I put the shoes on, they did not live up to my expectations. First, the footbed is very flat, hard, and cheaply made. These are not good shoes to buy if you do not have flat feet. I put a cushion insert in and that helped a lot. However, the second problem is that the heel cup is so hard and stiff that it rubs on the back of your heel when you try to walk, even if you are wearing thick socks. I would think that boots that looked so nice on the outside would be just as nice on the inside, or at least have a little padding around the heel. I will have to take these boots back because they are uncomfortable.

These shoes are wonderful. I have them in black and they go with everything! They took a little breaking in before they felt completely comfortable but it was never uncomfortable and feels great now. They look good with dresses and skinny jeans and leggings. My only complaint is that they run a bit long - I'm usually an 8 and these are quite roomy - but it means I can wear thick socks no problem. Great shoes!

Let me start by saying... I love this shoe!!! It is insanely cute (although personally, I never lace them up completely, I leave the top three or four holes unlaced. I think these boots look a million times cuter like that and it is more flattering on my legs). Normally, I wear a 7.5 but I ordered a 8 because as a general rule, I order a half size larger for boots because I just think they fit better that way, although I do think if I ordered a 7.5 they would fit, so I would say they are indeed true to size. The sole is crazy comfortable, as I took these on vacation with me, and hiked often in Arizona and Colorado. They leather is extremely soft. I was worried when I bought them that it would take time to break in the leather, but it is already so soft, they were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I would recommend putting water resistant spray on them, especially if you plan on wearing them anywhere rainy or plan on doing some heavy walking (hiking). I would recommend these to every one!!! They are gorgeous, comfortable, and very sturdy. I have yet to be let down my Steve Madden.

I ordered a pair of these boots for each of my teenage daughters. Both love all aspects of them - fit, style, comfort. I'd read reviews on other sites complaining what they received were fakes, but not through Zappos. These are the real Steve Maddens and my girls couldn't be happier.

I love these shoes. I'm usually a 9 but I'm wearing a 10 with these because they're a bit too snug otherwise. I bought them a year ago and wore them almost every day until they completely wore out. I took them with me on a trip to Spain and even with a lot of walking they stayed comfortable. I repurchased them just a while ago to replace my old ones, and the ones I received were slightly damaged. One of the lace holes' metal rings was not attached properly and was falling off. I emailed Zappos and they had a new pair sent to me in just a few days. Wonderful customer service, wonderful boots.

I was very pleased. Booth exceeded my granddaughter's expectations! She loves them! And I loved the speed in which Zappos got them to me!

I love this shoe. My only complaint is that they are stiff. I love them enough to break them in and I think they will be perfect. I get tons of compliments on them. They are really cute. Again, just stiff for now.

I bought these boots 2 years ago, and have loved them to their death. I love the style, and love how they look when they get a bit aged, but am really disappointed in their durability. I had to get new heels after about 9 months of use, and since then, I've worn the new heels down past the point of repair. Also, the leather has actually broken towards the bottom of the shoe, so I can't wear them in any type of wet weather without getting my feet wet. Unfortunately, though, I can't find any boots that have the same feel and look as the troopa, so I'm still being a trooper and wearing them until they completely fall apart.

I absolutely love this boot and get tons of compliments. I was looking for a riding boot with a narrow calf, and just couldn't find the right one. So I settled on these and am glad I did. They're true to size, and holding up well so far. Support is moderate, but they're still comfy enough that I can walk all day in them, and there's just enough room for thick socks for cushioning. They look hot with skinny jeans.

Zappos is amazing as always and had these to me super quick! This boot (I got it in black) looks better in person and works w/ tights or skinny jeans. For me there was a break-in period, mainly the stitching over the toe did not want to bend and was tight across my narrow foot. I can't say they were "comfortable" right out of the box; I live in Boston and do a ton of walking. I do however own a wooden shoe stretcher (also purchased from Zappos) and I kept this boot stretching for a week and the problem was solved! I highly, highly recommend a shoe stretcher. I haven't worn these in wet weather and likely won't given all the negative comments here about sole issues. I would however recommend the Troopa if you are looking for a cute boot to get you through the fall and dry winter days.

I ordered these for my daughter, these are her third pair. She bought them to go to concerts so her feet don't get crushed. They have become her go to shoes, she likes the way they look with every day college wear. She is not the most responsible shoe person but the first pair did not last a year. This last pair was made in Mexico.

These are great boots I wear them with almost everything. I walk everywhere since I live in a city, and they have held up for a year with only moderate wear in the heel. Otherwise, they look almost brand new. The best thing about them is that I had room to squeeze in a Dr. Scholls arch support pad. The leather eventually stretched out so that it's not as tight as it was when I first bought them. They are super comfortable!

Nice leather and very nice style for a great price! They are very comfortable, I wear a size 10 and they fit true to size. I put a thin insole inside for better support when leaving laces half-way open, and ready to rock!

These are the best boots that I have ever owned! I bought them in both black leather and distressed brown. The black boots are beautiful but were a bit stiff at first so I distressed them a bit on my own - I covered a hammer with towel and pounded the leather a bit. Also, I stuffed tons of newspaper in the boots to stretch them out for a couple of days. That worked wonderfully. The sizes are true. If you want a bit more of a slouchy feel go half a size higher. My distressed brown pair is a 9½ and they are soft and I can wear thicker socks with them. My black ones are a 9 and are more sleek looking. Seriously, these are the best boots ever. They are so versatile. They look great with skinny jeans, skirts and leggings. Every girl must own a pair. I am about to purchase another pair right now.

These are great boots. I bought them in the chocolate brown for my daughter and she loves the color, style, and comfort. She had tried another pair on in a department store and found the fit a little narrow/tight, but a half size up was just right.

Say hello to your new besties! Yes, I'm referring to these insanely awesome and retardedly comfortable combat boots! So...my sis bought me these as an early Xmas present. She refuses to shop anywhere but Zappos! I never inserted my foot into anything more comfortable. I am a true size 9. But when I tried these at a store ''in the city''(yes, I live in Brooklyn!), the 9 felt humongous! And I'm telling you I'm always a size 9. Huge bummer they didn't have half size smaller (I needed exactly an 8.5) and I almost wept right there. Like literally, I'm a tough, motorcycle ridin', South American lunatic (obviously I'm a girl hence the right shoes will and do melt my heart in the end), but anyway as I was saying, I'm a toughie but at that moment when the sales guy muttered the words "size 9 is all we got" my sis handed me her scented Hello Kitty tissues because I was ready to sob. In any case, enter *drumroll* Zappos in my life, or in our lives. My sis as a surprise went home, logged onto her VIP Zappos account (love how Zappos makes everyone a VIP! Love that), and found the black Troopa - Steve Madden combat boots for me in a size 8.5. They delivered them overnight. It was a total Santa sleigh move. Except I guess too early for Santa, but anyway. I rushed to her house and she had placed the huge box under the tree for me! I jumped up and down and tore the box open with my teeth! Seriously. In any case the leather scent was intoxicating. I am used to shopping exclusively at Brooklyn thrift stores. My fave pair of boots is a vintage beat up pair of black paddock boots with kilties and little Indian charms atop the kilties. Super cute, but they're silvertaped (actually it's leopard-print-duct tape). In any case, now I have a new favorite pair. These combat boots are the most buttery feeling leather I ever touched or wore on my feet. The 8.5 is a 9. Feels like a 9. If your feet are wide, I don't know. Mine are regular width, high arches. I haven't stopped wearing these boots, even in the rain, I couldn't stop myself from wearing them. They go with everything. Preferably awesome comfy leggings, or shorts with warm printed tights. That's how I love rockin' 'em! But I cannot even wait to wear them in the summer with shorts and bare legs, or dresses, or skirts, n' whatnot. I cannot sing enough praises for these boots. It's my first pair of the ''Troopa'' by Steve Madden and I cannot wait to get more one day. My friend told me that around Herald Square they have printed ones like leopard print, flowery and faded purple solid color or faded green. I am a goth at heart and these boots are like my new best friends. They're so tough, yet so sexy, so delicate and feminine. You will never regret buying them. I hope I can wear these till I die! I get so many compliments when I wear these boots! I would, however, advise putting in insoles if you are wearing the boots on long commutes that involve some walking. They look fabulous, but you need a little extra support if you're walking in them.

These boots are actually my favorite boots of all time! I don't regret one penny that I spent on these boots! Also, these boots were definitely made for walking.

The boots look and fit great but the quality is terrible. I tried them on previously and knew to order half a size smaller since they run a little big. I'm disappointed Steve Madden would produce such a cheap product and I hope they don't go the way of Nine West. Once my boots arrived I looked closely and realized the sole was already seperating from the boot so you basically couldn't even wear these in the rain without getting your feet wet. In addition there were several small tears in the leather on the upper part of the boot. I might pay $40 for these boots expecting them to fall apart otherwise there not worth the money. Its to bad because the style and fit are great.

This was my first pair of Steve Madden shoes, and dear god, I am in love! I got them in black and of course, they are super stylish and go with everything. They are pretty comfortable, or at least they were after I broke them in; when I first wore them, they were still stiff so they gave me blisters, but I broke them in after about four wears, so it is fine now, and I am totally happy with these!
