I wanted to love these boots. Bought them in brown and black but alas they are on their way back to Zappos (who has an amazing shipping and return policy). My calves are athletic; I run and do some weight training so my calves are ~16”. The photos looked like the shaft might be stretchy and adjustable but they really are neither. The strap on the outside of the shaft is purely decorative and doesn't really adjust and the elastic section of the shaft has zero give. I likely could have stretched them a bit but for the price I felt they should be a perfect fit right out of the box. The search continues for a non-gappy, non-constricting riding boot.

I hate to be the party pooper here, but I just couldn't make these work for me. I am a size 6.5/7 and ordered size 7 in lovely, lovely medium brown. THE GOOD: They are truly drop-dead - I do mean TRULY. If you want a high boot without a heel to look amazing with your jeans, making everyone in the room turn around and stare at your boots, wishing that THEY were wearing shoes that looked even half as awesome as yours, by all means, these boots are for you! THE BAD: I must have a freak calf-ankle ratio. My calves have some muscle definition but I have no trouble putting them into boots that are reported to be overly restrictive according to other reviewers. Indeed, these boots fit fine, if not terribly snug, against my calves (they do adjust, which is nice). The problem is the transition from calf to ankle. There is a bulge, followed by rubbing that is so awful that even after multiple attempts to wear them, within short order I have a nasty rash against my leg. This is with both a sock and pair of jeans between myself and the boots. And while I'm perfectly game for wearing shoes that are uncomfortable, these just dug into my skin in a manner that gave me more misery than I could bear. I own TWO other pair of Timberland boots, and have not encountered the awfulness that this lovely cousin of theirs has inflicted upon my tender flesh. Final analysis: They look great, but they're not for me. They seem to be working out for lots of folks & I tried to tough it out, but it's Boots: 1; Me: 0. I've worn them enough that I don't feel comfortable with returning them, but I sure do wish I could sell them now. Moleskin next? Anyone want a pair of size 7s for cheap?

So wanted to love these but so did not. First the color was more reddish than expected. Next although the footbed was very comfortable, there was a bunch of bunchiness around the ankle. As a result I expected the whole boot shaft to be large...but nope! The top was strangely tight around my calves-not something I've ever experienced before. The boot is adjustable up top but I did not find the adjustable hook thingy easy to change. So they are going back. Bummed - would have been great for snow I'm sure with the traction but just not doing it all-around.

These are absolutely not wide, to my great sadness. I ordered a size up and the toe box was so uncomfortably tight and the heel was too large. The ankle was too loose for me and it sags and looks extremely unflattering. They did fit well over my 14" calves with tights, but not worth keeping. These will have to go back.

I ordered my normal size then had to return for a full size smaller as my heel kept lifting in the larger size. These boots are comfortable and I love the way they look, HOWEVER, less than a month after getting them the sole started separating at the toe of the left boot. NOT WELL MADE. If I had not broken them in already I would return them, but instead am going to have to pay to have them fixed by a cobbler.

The boot was a good fit at the foot, but was too wide at the calf. I also did not like the quality of the suede. It felt too thin and did not match the brown smooth leather very well.

I bought these boots a year ago and they are such a let down. I wanted a pair of durable and fashionable black boots, but I got the boots in black and they are already worn and faded looking (as they were only 3 months after I bought them). Very soon after I bought the boots the suede looked extremely worn, maybe I should have gathered that suede wouldn't make for as durable of a boot but these boots absolutely do not keep up the "new" look. Also, I thought I just had to wear the boot in as it was very hard and uncomfortable, but, a year later it is still uncomfortable. I should have returned these boots when I had the chance, dollars wasted. (maybe the brown wears better, my friend has the brown and seems more satisfied, but such as drastic change in color after such a short time made me very quickly regret my purchase).

I have large calves and own two other pair of timberland boots which fit fine. Even though these were a wide, they were extremely tight where the suede part of the shaft is stitched together with the upper leather band. The foot also was quite narrow. Disappointing and generally I love Timberlands.
I'd also recommend:
Keens are also great for a wider foot.

These are straight shaft boots, like riding boots, but the body of them is oil-tanned suede. So they're baggy and poochy in the ankle area, which I find unattractive. The insole is pretty cushy, they're lightweight, and seem true to size. I find the arch support to be inadequate but I have pretty high arches and usually have to put supports in everything. I wear wides and these fit nicely in that direction.

In the box they look amazing - they were exactly what I wanted but after trying them on I had to return them. They slouched and looked way too big on top and gapped. Attempted to tighten them and they middle of the boot bowed out and sagged to make it look even worse. Too bad.

These are really pretty boots however they are really narrow. I wear a B width in all my shoes and these were really tight in the width. I am returning them and getting the wider width. Hopefully they fit!

This is a really good-looking boot, and I was excited to own a pair given all the rave reviews. Sadly, I had to send mine back, as my heels kept slipping out of place. I don't think sizing down would have helped, as they were plenty tight at the toe. I was also concerned with the thinness of the suede eventually tearing at the seams. I currently own a pair of Rieker boots that are ripping terribly (yes, bad reviews for Rieker). I was hoping for some thicker-skinned, more rugged boots! My search continues...

I have owned these for 10 months now and been partially through one (mild) DC winter in them. They are good quality boots but I think Timberland could have done better. The shoe part is still pretty stiff and inflexible, like a tough workboot. The footbed is hard. After a full day in these my arches ache. Meanwhile the boot shaft is more slouchy than I would prefer in equestrian style boots. On the positive side, these are indeed warm, waterproof winter boots. They are sturdy (they still look brand new) and have great traction on icy city sidewalks. They do not look bad with a skirt. I have frequently worn them to work and I think they look fine with a dress or skirt and a blazer.

These are tight in the calves. I took someone's advice and bought the wide version and the circumference for an 8.5 is 15 inches. The suede is soft and will make the boot "slouchy."

I have wide feet, so typically have a hard time finding shoes I can wear comfortably all day on my feet at work. I happily ordered an 8.5 (my usual size) in Wide, but found them to be too long and too narrow. And the style reminded me more of a "Biker" boot than a riding boot. Disappointed and sending them back.

I was excited to get these boots because living in the Pacific Northwest, you need something sturdy. Unfortunately, they seemed as if they would scuff easily, and the two different types of textures (suede and leather) didn't go together too well. It is TRUE, these boots run very small, so definitely order a half size up. I will sadly be returning my order.

The boots were a little different than what I was looking for but women with big feet (size 11) can't be too picky. Unfortunatly these shoes were too small, they felt wide but at the same time felt small and didn't fit right. also the top of the shaft was tight. I dont have huge calves so this was surprising.

I ordered this half a size larger based on other reviews, and I still couldn't get the boot on my foot! It was so uncomfortable. I also didn't really like the look of the suede and leather together. Sorry, this was a returner for me!

The right cuff where the suede and leather are sewn together had what appeared to be a white scratch on it. Upon closer inspection it was the edge of white printed numbers (shoe size I think) that should have been sewn under the seam. I thought I might keep them anyway so I tried them on and even with the adjusters on top they were too big for my ultra-skinny calves. When I took them off and attempted to repackage I got another surprise. The right boot would not zip up! The zipper went up about 10 cm then refused to budge despite my multiple efforts. I am very disappointed. Timberland has always made quality products in the past.

I should have heeded the advice of previous skeptical reviewers and am now suspicious of the positive reviews on Zappos. These boots are huge in the ankle and rub against my ankle and leg in multiple spots, am certain (even with socks) that I would quickly be getting blisters from wearing these. Comfort level is average as far the insole and "shoe" portion of the boot, the overall style is not great, sort of 'boho' at best but not 'boho chic'. These are going back and I am giving up on shopping at Zappos since I also purchased a disappointing second pair in another style, I had hoped to keep both but will have to continue my search for a decent pair of boots next year, and not at Zappos.

The calf was too tight and the boot itself was also. I bought wide because I like to wear insoles for my arches; however, the wide didn't feel wide at all. Cute boot, but has to be returned.

I returned these. They were comfy but the "suede" part was really more of a distressed leather - rough not soft, and kind of cheap looking. I wanted something a little nicer/less casual looking for the money. I also ordered a 1/2 size up to wear with thicker socks but they were still very big so I'd order your true size. If you like the style and get a size that fits, I think these would be very comfy boots but they didn't work for me.

The suede material is thin and appears cheap. I expected more at this price. I am 5'3" and the height of the boot is too tall for me, but it might work well on someone taller.

Low quality boots for a high price - look better on the picture; zipper got stuck on both boots; no lining. Timberland is not what it used to be.
