After trying 2 other pairs of walking shoes and looking for something that wouldn't pinch my toes, these were keepers. They're a little stiff (and a bit heavy but I wanted good protection), so still breaking them in but looking forward to lots of comfortable walking.

I put these on the day they came. Drove 1000 miles in two days, spend a week outside, up and down hills, lots of walking. Very comfortable.

I bought this shoe because I had worn out a similar pair of Merrells after 2 years. However, the Gore-Tex version is stiffer around the tongue and gusset (due to waterproofing), so a thicker sock is necessary for the same amount of comfort as my previous shoe. Also, my last pair had the quick lace non-tie system, but these have conventional tie laces. I decided to return them.

I did not keep this shoe. I had ordered a number of different hiking shoes and was able to compare them. I am a longtime Merrell fan and wanted to like these because they were waterproof and I wanted to use them for winter hiking. I prefer the Merrell Pace Glove for summer hiking. Unfortunately, this shoe is very stiff. It is much stiffer than the non Gore-Tex version of the Siren Sport.

I wanted to love these. I read all of the reviews - every one of them. I decided to go with them because of all the positive responses to them. I did read a few slightly negative ones that caught my attention, and I should have listened to them because I have the same problem with them as the negative reviews I'd read had: These are very stiff! The quality is fantastic, the look is great, but the stiffness of this shoe is crazy - and it makes them very uncomfortable. It almost feels like you're wearing cleats! I even have an extremely wide foot and they fit the width just fine...but the sole is way too hard and inflexible. It's bizarre, actually. I wish I'd kept the box to return them.

I purchased these shoes for hiking and winter running. I had to return the first pair of Merrell Sirens because they were too small. I normally wear a women's 7.5 but had to purchase the 8, which fits just right. The color and quality of the shoe is great, but they are very stiff and I am experiencing rubbing on the top of my toes and the tongue of the shoe with the shoe lace tied is hard against the top of my foot. I was hoping to break these in more with running, but I don't think the shoe is that forgiving. They are not as comfortable as I hoped they would be. They are definitely waterproof and my socks have been dry every time I have worn them in the rain. I like the shoes enough that I will keep them, but probably will not buy these same ones in the future.

This is an updated review. I originally ordered my usual size (8.5), but my toes hit the front of the shoes. Ordered up a half size (9.0). Now my heel slips out when I walk, and my toes still feel a little tight. This shoe fits oddly, at least for me.

I bought these to replace a previous pair of Siren sport, non Gore-Tex. They were comfortable right out out of the box, these less so. They seem heavier, stiffer, and the the fronts come up too far, rubbing the ankles. I had to do some creative lacing to get the knot in a comfortable place. I've worn them half a dozen times now, and they are beginning to feel more comfortable, but I was disappointed after my good experience with the previous pair.

This shoe looks and feels great, but it didn't work for my feet. I have a wide toe box and a narrow heel. The toe box was too narrow and the heel too wide. And, for the cost, could be more comfortable. Zappos is awesome! The customer service is the best!

This shoe looks great but even one shoe size up from my usual 7 (I ordered a 7.5). I couldn't even wiggle my toes, but the heel felt loose. Hate to order an 8 for toe because the heel problem will be exacerbated.

These are good comfortable shoes for walking around in. They are not waterproof even though it has the Gortex. I have worn these shoes out in the rain (from light rain to summer downpour) and have always gotten wet feet and socks. They get a strong moldy/mildewy smell after getting wet.

These are the first shoes I have bought from Merrell, and unfortunately I will have to return/exchange them. I am a size 10½-11 with a moderately wide foot, so finding a comfortable fit in women's shoes can sometimes be challenging. I bought these in 11 (medium width), and at first they felt great, if not a little snug. However, after only about an hour of wearing them outside, my feet started to feel cramped, and at that point even light walking began to feel uncomfortable. So, I took a look at the reviews, something I definitely should have paid more attention to before ordering these shoes, and lo and behold the general consensus was, indeed, that the sizing in this particular model runs small. I had tried on Merrell's regular Siren Sport in a store, and for some reason was just not expecting for there to be much of a difference in the sizing due to the GORE-TEX treatment. I will try exchanging these for the larger width, but if that does not work, I will have to look at another shoe, since these are not available in anything larger than 11. Like the reviewers below, I also really wanted to like these shoes, but I am mildly disappointed by the poor fit.

Fit fine and was comfortable on flat surfaces, but it was so stiff around the ankle that it was painful on uneven surfaces as the foot shifted to the side. Had to send them back. Got the Chameleon Arch 2 instead which I love in the extreme.

This shoe felt much smaller than sized. I tried going up a 1/2 size from normal, but even then it felt a bit short, and much too narrow in the toe box. If you run into this problem, I suggest trying the Chameleon Arc or Avian Light Stretch models. They felt truer to size/width (at least, to my foot).

Cute shoe unfortunately it was super stiff. I wore it around the house and up and down stairs for 2 weeks and it never softened. Stiff and hard are how I'd describe this shoe which made it uncomfortable. Ended up returning it. Oh well.

These shoes were described in one of the review as good for walking the dog on a wet field. This was true for about a week, which is works even for a non-waterproof shoe. Now, only 3 months after I started using them, they falling apart all together, at the seams and also the material. In the meantime they were not very comfortable to walk in. The little tow felt crammed, even though I ordered the wide size. I will not but them again.

Not right out the box! I have three pairs of Merrell's, Moab Ventilator, Moab Waterproof and one Siren Sport, so thought this waterproof would be good for rainy season...wrong! This was the most painful shoe I have ever tried on. The tongue is so hard and unbending I couldn't wear it even to soften it up. It cut into the front of my ankle. The regular Siren Sport was perfect right out of the box but this really is not...glad I didn't have to leave for hiking trip right away. Will go back to the Moab Waterproof.

Not for me. I bought them as they came reccomended for folks that wanted a good arch support. They were "OK" at first (moderate arch) but after a bit broke down. For the price I thought they would have held up a lot better.

Shoe looks nice. I bought it a size up like for most hiking shoes. I have been buying Merrell boots for several years now. Bad idea! They were too long and squashed my toes even though I ordered the wide. I ended up with a similar shoe from Merrell that REI had on the shelf.

I bought these in stone/corodovan and loved them so much that , two months later, I bought a second pair in grey. The grey ones cannot possibly have the same cushioning system as the stone/cordovan version. A month later I am still waiting for the grey ones to break in. They feel hollow and after a few hours in them my feet ache. I am on my feet all day. The stone/cordovan coloration broke in beautifully after the first few days and my feet have not ached in them no matter how long I have worn them in one day.

I loved my first pair. They were super comfortable right out of the box. However, after a few weeks, they started to smell funny. Kind of like cat pee. I thought I might have walked through some - washed them and it made no difference. I bought another pair and after a few weeks had the same problem! I do not own a cat! They were a different color as well, and they were not as comfortable. Due to inconsistency and smell, I have to give these a poorer rating although my first impression was great. I am very bummed.

I really wanted to love this shoe! I ordered this and the regular waterproof version. I actually preferred the waterproof over the Gore-Tex (just felt more comfortable and the Gore-Tex makes a crackle sound when you walk). But unfortunately the laces just cut the top of my foot so I didn't keep either version. There's really no padding under the tongue. I did order a half size up as most have said as they do run small.

These shoes are very stiff and the insoles do not have a lot of support. I ended up putting my own support in them. I would not buy them again. I got bad blisters the first time I wore them to walk 2 miles. Not a good sign for longer hikes!

The backs of these shoes were extremely uncomfortable for me. They rubbed my heels raw (no matter what socks I wore) unless I either took out the footbeds or added extra heel cushions. That aside, they fit great. I did not wear them every day, or for very long periods of time, but after a few months they were starting to fall apart. They may as well not have Gore-Tex either, because five minutes walking in wet grass meant my socks were wet. These shoes are really not worth the money.

Good looking shoe but too narrow. Also, the gusseted tongue hurts the top of my foot even when the laces are loose. Return!
