My size 10.5W husband was unable to get his foot through the shallow opening of the Merrell Encore Gust, size 11M. He has worn out his similar pair of Merrell Encore Reach and was hoping this would be the replacement. The styling and leather used on the Encore Gust is not as nice as the Encore Reach. The plain toe reads orthodic. An unfortunate miss.

I ordered these for my husband in advance of a trip, thinking they would be great at the airport and extremely comfortable...which they absolutely were... Our complaint is that they are barely over a year old and they are already falling apart...the inside liner is ripping away from the inner heel area...and the soles are getting extremely worn....for the cost not expensive, but SHOULD last more than a year of 'light' usage... the other complaint is they really stretched a LOT... all of that said, he really enjoyed the shoes while they lasted! Merrill needs to step up and use more durable materials. I'm really torn about purchasing another pair.

This shoe felt great for the first few days and then I developed such heel pain I can no longer wear them! I do not know why, perhaps it is the clog style with the lower back than a true shoe, but as a Chef, this shoe is worthless to me. I had Merrells many times before with no problem. Beware, a waste of money for me.

I bought these for work. I'm a 12 hour shift floor nurse, and I've been on the lookout for shoes that would make the difference in my fatiguing legs and feet. Granted, everyone's feet are different, but generally speaking, one can tell if a shoes has good comfort and helps or hinders during the shift. Unfortunately for me, this shoe is not a help to my situation. Though they seem thick with padding they offer little comfort and provide firm support as an orthotic would. This translates to pressure points and discomfort. Furthermore, the insert has a slippery fabric which makes even puffy socks slide at faster than walking speeds. Overall, nice looking shoes, poor performance. The search continues.

I bought this pair to replace one that i wore out. The old pair was amazingly comfortable. This pair is the same size but is very uncomfortable. The shoes are slightly smaller than indicated by the size. There is also now much more contour to the sole of the shoes that is bad for my relatively flat feet.

I have returned these shoes as they was unwearable and hurt to wear. I have the same shoes in brown leather but are a few years old and is so comfortable. That is what I was wanting from these shoes but did not happen. Merrell must have made changes someway in that shoes and styles I have worn for many years are now totally uncomfortable to wear. I have had to return every Merrell bought for the past year or so or not even bought after trying on. Their shoes used to be, try them on and wear them immediately but not any more. I am sad since they were so comfortable.

Update: The heel of these shoes are slightly raised off the floor in comparison to the toe of the shoe. When walking heel-to-toe it is comparable to walking on square blocks rather than having a smooth transition. I also feel rather foolish while walking in these because they make a *thud-tap, thud-tap* on the tile floor with every step. The *thud-tap* is due to the lack of a transition in the bridge of the foot. "walking comfort to the next level," means that you are elevated one inch off the ground with the cumbersome sole and the "level" is reduced from the average walkability of your previous shoe. It is just a poorly designed shoe. I am very disappointed with this product and feel duped. The price point and product quality do not equate.

Too bad these shoes "squeak" after a few wearings. It took a while to determine that the "squeak" is apparently coming from the air cushion area of the heels (right shoe much louder than left). I simply cannot wear shoes that tell people I'm quacking down the hall like a duck. Returning for a full refund. Disappointed.

I recently purchased a pair of Encore gust slip-ons and was very disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!! The shoes were way too narrow and they are not available in a wider width. I purchased the same shoe several years ago and they were Much Better!!!!!!!!!! I shipped them back.
Now, I will not buy any Merrell shoes online.

hoes were not true to size or width. I ordered a 7 medium and the shoe were much too big and wide. I gave the shoes to a friend who wears an 8 wide and they fit perfectly.

I have had the previous versions of these shoes and they were much more comfortable. There seems to be less cushioning in the soles. I cannot wear these for much more than a couple hours without my feet hurting. Even though I do not wear them that much, there are now holes in the soles after less than a year. I expect more life from such an expensive pair of shoes. I am giving up on Merrells.

I own the previous version and the new ones are not nearly as comfortable. They seem to have less cushion. I have a hard time wearing these all day. I've owned these less than a year and the soles are worn through already. I'm done with shoes that I can't get a year out of.

I have been a huge fan of Merrell shoes for years. Hikers, water shoes and sandals. But these clogs are a huge disappointment! I bought them on the advice of an orthopedic surgeon for a foot problem. They were ok around the house for a couple of days. Well they stretched after a week of wearing around town. There is no way that they are my size 9 or 42. I cannot wear them, they are a useless dust collector in my closet and I am out a lot of money. I know Zappos' policy, I will not try yo return them to Zappos. But I do have a beef with Merrell. Meantime - beware the shoes are going to stretch out of shape really fast. Be smart and buy a size smaller. Do nit be stuck with bad shoes that you cannot wear.

Great slip-on shoe for about 2 years, then started squeaking. Right heel. Seriously, sounds like I need knee replacement. Local retailer says this squeak is common, he's often heard it from other customers, something about air cushioned sole failure. Maybe common for Merrell, but not for me. Tossed them and bought Keen.

This shoe claims to be slip resistant. This is a lie. The worst slip resistance of any shoe. I have a pair of basketball shoes that are more slip resistant this is sorry excuse of a shoe. I have slipped into walls and doors and injured myself because of the poor design. If you are looking for a comfortable slip resistant shoe, do not buy these. You will hurt yourself.
