Customer Reviews Merrell Encore Gust

I have been wearing an earlier model, the Encore Groove Pro, since 2008. They have been incredibly durable, as my daily work shoes I have put many miles on them. They are comfortable and lightweight. Sadly, the soles have started coming off so it was time to order a replacement. That model has since been discontinued, and the Encore Gust seems to be the followup model as it looks very similar. In terms of length and width, the same size (9.5) is consistent with the Groove Pro. However, with the Gust, the foot opening must be slightly larger and or differently shaped, because it has noticeably more heel slippage when walking than the Groove Pro. Whereas the Groove Pro stays on my foot like a sneaker (despite being a mule/clog), the Gust has that hip slip feel like the Dansko clogs do (which i wore for a few years prior to the Groove Pro). Otherwise, it seems pretty similar in terms of lightweight and cushioning. So overall, I don't like these as much as my old Groove Pro's, due to the slipping sensation, but will probably get used to them over time and keep them since the old model has unfortunately been discontinued.

I enjoy wearing the shoe, but it is a little more narrow than I expected a medium width to be.

Have ordered these three times in the past with no issues but they seem to narrow this time. Hope they will stretch out some over time.

As a surgery resident this show was very comfortable and allowed me to be on my feet all day. The original sole insert wasn't the best but I replaced with ones I bought for added comfort. Not as breathable as I liked but I got really good use out of them for 2 years.

The arch support is less than the Encore Bypass.

My husband purchased these as replacement for same style. The old ones had a suede type finish and stained easily, so he was excited to see the wipe-off finish on this design. He likes to wear them instead of slippers and can use them as indoor/outdoor shoes. Love the comfort and arch support!

On my second pair, they are extremely comfortable. Will be a lifelong customer.

I have a pair of Merrell Encore Reach and I HATE that Merrell discontinued them and replaced them with a cheaper-made and cheaper looking version, the Encore Gust, The Reach has a seam running around the top of the foot; the Gust simply bends over and is tacked down at the sole. The look is chintzy; the feel is a little less satisfying. But I LOVE the easy slip-on and the comfort is good. That said, Zappos served me well. I found the shoes for less at ShoeMall and ordered from there. Lost my cost-savings when I had to return them on my dime, and lost my patience with their poor-quality customer service when I tried to purchase a replacement pair. Maybe the ShoeMall customer service rep was having a bad day, but still. I hung up the phone and opted to go with Zappos, based on the glowing recommendations others had left. count me satisfied.
