I read customer reviews before ordering and I ordered a size larger. The boots were too large, which made them very uncomfortable. Soles don't have any traction.

A+ boots! They feel good - a bit tight to start but are loosening. Leather is high quality and not cheap looking or feeling. The Zinfandel color is gorgeous - much more a muted burgundy than the brighter color pictured. So nice to have something still very neutral that goes with everything but not the usual brown or black. Love the bit of heel. But the BEST part is that the shaft is a great fit for my on the skinnier side calves. Most other boots shafts were way too big but these are nice and snug. Love them!

Overall very comfortable. I'm usually in between 9 and 10 and had to go up to 10 for the right fit. My calves are pretty wide, and this fits fine. It's not as "pretty" as it looks in the pictures - a little clunkier and boxy looking - but is very comfortable and warm.

I have worn these boots almost every day from October to April for nearly 4 years. They are holding up perfectly and are extremely comfortable. I get compliments on them all the time. Considering another pair in a different color.

Love these boots. Have tried many different boots and then return them because of lack of comfort. These are extremely comfortable!

I searched for a few months before buying a new pair of black boots. I want them to last and be comfortable since I'm on my feet 12 hours a day and concrete floor in my art studio. These are great! They look great when I dress up or down, are comfortable through the day and I can tell their made well and should really last me a while.

Love these boots so much I'm buying a second pair. I've had them for about 4 years now in the oak. I literally wear them all through fall and winter as they are my only pair of boots. In the rain, and the cold, and the horrible snows - they've been amazing. Only downsides: - Sadly, the soles cracked at the balls of my feet on both boots after three years of constant use. This eliminates their waterproof capabilities, which until then were absolutely stellar. I mean, these were my rain boots. And I live in the city and take public transit, and walk a lot - so they were used and abused for sure. - I went up a half size thinking I'd want the extra room for socks, and whatnot. Definitely not. Should have stuck with a 9.5, and realized it as soon as I got them but didn't feel like sending them back for whatever reason. Of course they only stretched from there, given that they are leather. - they are a little heavy I suppose, but you should realize that I prefer my feet to be as barefoot as possible, as often as possible - so anything more than a Birkenstock feels like lead weights to me. Pros: - super cute. I am complimented on these boots all the time. Dressy enough, yet understated enough that they fit in well in any circumstance. - definitely waterproof. Like I said, I traipse all over the city through fall, winter, and early spring in these boots - rain, snow, ice, etc - and had no problems until I literally split the soles completely through. - comfortable - there are no weird bits that stick out on the inside. I have an ankle that has had multiple surgeries, and nothing about these boots bothered that. The leather wears wonderfully and is very supple. - while the tread is minimal, I've really only had trouble walking on ice. And I can't imagine anything short of spikes that would have done the trick in those situations.

I love them. They are super comfortable. They were a little tight around the ankle and calf at first, but have stretched just right after a couple wears. Great leather. I love the weatherproof qualities and good warmth! I am stoked.

I bought these also in black. loved them from the moment I put them on. They were a little wide for my skinny calves, but the adjusting buckles solved that problem. some people might not like the fold it creates but I don't mind it. I'm on my feet all day, plus live in a snowy, cold climate. These boots are crazy comfortable, and great on slippery surfaces! I will wear them to death!

Love these boots! They look good and they are so comfortable! I can walk all day in them. I have trouble walking in any shoe all day, but I these are great all day. The leather looks very nice.

Great boots! They are really comfortable and super for walking around. Water resistant too, so made the perfect pair for my trip to San Fran. Plus, they were cute with skinny jeans and leggings.

Love these boots so much, this is my second pair. I bought the brown ones a year or two ago and they are still in great condition (I take good care of my shoes). These are wider than most boots, which, combined with the low heel, is great for foot health. But this boot is still classy enough for professional attire. I get lots of compliments. This boot has a synthetic lining vs the leather lining of the older brown pair, which should be good for air circulation come warmer weather.

Most comfortable and well fitting boot I've ever worn. Excellent quality. Style best lends itself to casual.

So comfortable - and I usually don't like wearing boots. Roomy enough to fit even though I usually take a C width. and they look great! with jeans, skirts - for all but really dressed-up doings. Perfect casual boots, in other words.

Tried these along with several other similar boots. These fit fine, and I liked that the calf buckles are adjustable. However, I wasn't as fond of the styling in the foot of the boot, the lack of traction on the sole, and the texture of the leather. The toe box also seemed kind of weirdly shaped; I don't think they would have been comfortable after a while. Other Keen shoes have worked well for me; just not these. I ended up going with a boot made by North Face instead.

So, I purchased this boot a year ago in brown and loved it so much I wanted it in black. I finally bit the bullet this year and wore them the other night. Something felt different about them from the start, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Today, I was trying to decide to wear the black or the brown boots, and when I had them side by side, I realized that my brown boots are ALL leather, and these black ones are MADE IN CHINA and not all leather! I am shocked. Unfortunately, I can't return them since I have already worn them, but I definitely would have done so had I figured this out before wearing them! What a bummer. So, Keen is making them cheaper but still charging the same price. Nice. I wonder if the brown ones are still all leather? Or if they are all being made this cheap now. Otherwise, the boot fits great and I love that there isn't much of a heel. Like I said, I ordered the brown ones last year and LOVE them, so maybe some colors are still all leather? I ordered a half size smaller than I usually wear and they fit perfectly as they will stretch a bit (if they are all leather).

Love this boot. Really comfy, but the boot would not zip around my left calf. I sometimes have problems with the calf width of boots but not always. I'm in between a 7.5 and an 8. I bought the 8, and it was a better fit. Wish they fit me. I really like them.

I buy quality footwear and keeep them for a long time, and I was finally due for a new pair of black dress boots. I ordered five pairs from Zappos and spent some time trying them all on with various clothing. I kept the Keen Bern Baby Bern Boot...even though I had bought them in brown (on sale) a year ago! I love my brown Keen Bern Baby Berns in brown, but I wanted something different in black boots. After much consideration, I kept the black Keens and sent the other four pairs back. I couldn't believe I ended up with the same pair in a different color, but the Keens work best for the type of clothes I wear: Athleta tights/leggings and tunics, skirts and tights, dresses.... They're really comfortable and look great. One of my requirements for boots is that they fit my small-ish calves. So many boots are wide at the top and just too big for my 13" calves. All of the boots I ordered actually fit my calves, but the Keen Berns were all around what I needed. Contrary to another review, I do not find them slippery on carpet or any other type of flooring. These are not boots you wear to go play in the snow or on the ice. They are warm-ish fall and winter boots for wearing to work or running around town in but I wouldn't wear them for extended periods in the snow and cold.

This boot is a great combination of style, comfort, and weather resistance. However, it runs a bit big. I wore them all weekend at a music festival and they were great in the rain and mud. I have slim calves and the boot shaft was plenty roomy. I wear between 9-9.5 depending on the shoe, but more often 9.5. Ordered these in a 9.5 and should have sent them back to try a 9 before I wore them outside. Even with thick socks my feet have extra room and slide around a bit. If you're between sizes, I'd recommend sizing down.

Great Boot! Very Comfie. I live in NYC and I walk around a lot. These boots keep my feet warm and dry and look great!

I just got these boots and at fist I thought they were too big. I am either an 8.5 or 9, and I ordered a 9. When I first tried them on, I didn't have any socks on and they felt huge. But I tried them with regular sock (they feel a tiny bit roomy) and with thicker socks (they feel perfect). The top of the boot shaft is fairy wide and I did not like that at first either. But then I adjusted the buckles on the side and they fit snug around my calves. There is a bit of puckering on the side due to the tightened straps, but I am okay with that. Overall, I like these boots and am not worried about the bottoms being slippery. They seem plenty grippy on all of the floor surfaces in my house. After some consideration and tinkering, I am going to keep them!

I have average size calves but small feet. I was so happy to find that these boots came in my size, 5.5 but am surprised and disappointed to find that they are way too tight on my calves! I have never needed a wide calf boot in my life. They wouldn't even zip more than halfway up my bare legs. I am going to pass on reordering this same boot in a wide calf because I really don't know what to expect - my ankles are pretty small so I don't want them wobbling in the the boot. I compared these boots side by side to some of my other (regular calf) boots and noticed these are at least one inch smaller in the calf. It's as if these are kid-sized in the calf width only. One good thing is that the length of the foot and shaft are very true to size. Too bad the calf is so narrow! Has anyone else had this problem with small sizes?

This is the third pair of the same boot I've owned. The first pair was lined in fleece and so comfy. So I ordered another pair. I walked miles on cobbled roads through out Europe. I returned last year's model of the same, it was unlined, and then this year they lined them again in a mesh that is breathable and comfy. I hope these last as long and I can wear them for 8 hours at a time too. They are true to size.

Amazing boots! I can wear them comfortably all day! I can walk the dog in them! I can go to work in them! I love these boots!!

Bought these for my teen daughter. Great style, not too 'Keen'-ish. She has a slightly wider calf and the just stretched to fit. She's hoping they loosen up with wear. She also a very narrow ankle area, and there is no bagging or sagging. Very pleased with purchase.
