I did not have the ankle strap problem some people mentioned, but the shoe was too wide for me. Also, the arch support hit my foot in the wrong place and was not comfortable. Since I have a long, low arch, it probably would not bother someone with a normal arch. There is also a green upside down crescent on the back of the sole (heel area) that shows. It was not pictured in the close-up photos. I needed all white shoes.

These shoes are really great looking and great quality, and I've seen them on people and coveted them, and heard nothing but good things regarding comfort... BUT.... what no one told me is that if your knees hyperextend, which mine do, the shoes actually worsen that. I found within a few days of trying to break them in/get used to them, my hip pain which I occasionally experience flared up- when I stopped wearing the shoes, it got better again. I think there are certain back conditions that these are really good for, and others which they are actually worse for. Just a caution. For style, I gave 4 stars because the strap is a little thin for the shoe I thought.

These are awesome shoes...they work with everything. Very comfortable. I wear heels to work daily and I wore these several times the first week I received them. I highly recommend, especially if you have foot problems or other joint issues like me. I only buy sofft shoes from now on. They can be a smidge constrictive in the toe bed, but they will stretch. I order about a half size up to allow for comfort. Great shoes, great brand!

I had forgotten that Earth shoes are shaped so that your heels are lower than your toes. I just can't get used to walking this way. I would have to wear them exclusively to get used to it. The strap was way too long; looked gangly hanging off the side. I ordered white, which isn't a true white; it did not go with my white pants. So I had to return them.

Problem Heel - I own many pairs of Earth shoes and LOVE them all, but this one was a different bird. The high heel back hit me where no shoe had ever gone before and it hurt instantly. A beautiful shoe for its type, but not wearable by me.

Disappointment - I have two other pairs of Earth shoes that are incredibly comfortable, so I was surprised at how ill-fitting and uncomfortable this shoe was. It's too narrow and the arch isn't where it should be. And worse, it is so incredibly ugly--the toe just swoops up and I felt like I had duck feet. I bought them to wear to work, and they're so ugly, it was embarrassing. I gave them to my sister, who has narrow feet and wears them to do yard work.

Not worth the price - My foot isn't terribly wide, but this shoe--even in a wide size--felt snug on my foot. My toes, especially my pinky toes, rubbed uncomfortably against the narrow toe box. The strap also fell in an uncomfortable place, right across the flexing part of the ankle. Overall, these shoes are okay, but not spectacular--probably not worth the high price.

Had to return - Love the look, and would have loved the fit, but the little tab at the top of the heel rubs my foot. If it wasn't for that one thing, I wouldn't have returned the shoes. I don't think I should have to "break" in a comfort shoe.

Fit not quite right! I am pleased with the look but will have to wear thin socks. I think the fit is my weird foot. My foot is higher on top than most people's. This is where it is snug.

This is my first pair of Earth shoes. I had hoped this will replace my Keen Mary Janes; wanted a more polished look. The negative heel is actually quite comfy. But the velcro is abrasive around the side of my foot, even after loosening and the back of the heel rubs me raw. When I wear socks it seems to do okay but now it takes away from the look of the shoe. I am disappointed in the shoe but ZAPPOS.COM is awesome!!

These shoes are very comfortable. I couldn't give them more than two stars, though. The shoes are comfortable on the feet, but not for the rest of the body. I live in a large city and I walk everywhere. I walk at least 4 miles a day and I wanted a shoe that was comfortable, but also attractive enough for work. The first week I had the Solar, my feet were very happy. The second week, I started to experience lower back pain for the first time in my life. When I stopped wearing the shoe, the pain disappeared. So now I won't wear the Solar for walking long distances.

Very comfortable, but NOT cute - These are my first Earth shoes. They are very comfortable except that it is hard to get the strap to fit right. It is either too tight or too loose; however, that is not really a very big problem, more of a minor inconvenience. The negative heel technology was easy to get used to. I didn't feel like I was falling over. I did have sore calves (the front part) after wearing them one full day. The only problem I have with these shoes is that they are kind of ugly (to me). I feel sort of clownish wearing them. They do feel great and they did give me instant good posture. I think I will stick to Dansko for my regular shoes and maybe try some Earth sandals that hopefully won't look so clownish.

I bought these shoes after I shattered my ankle because a salesperson told me they work wonders for people with messed up feet and arthritis, but they definitely did not work for me. The negative heel put a lot more pressure on my bad ankle and my legs....If you want a super comfortable shoe, try Keens. I recently discovered them, and it's all I own now.

Surprise! I received the toe room and shifting of weight that I was looking for == thank you! What I wasn't ready for is how terribly warm the shoes are. My feet do a good bit of sweating, not a problem I've had before with any other shoes. It's so prevalent that I may wear these very infrequently. The other small problem is that the velcro closure can snag hose. Guess I should have anticipated that.

Earth - I am using these shoes as working shoes. So, on a daily basis I use them and they are comfortable enough to help my with my lower back pain. Yet they could be more stylish and wider.

Not so good for my bad back - I was really hoping that these shoes would be good for my bad back because they are incredibly comfortable and they also look great, even if you wear a size 12. However, while they helped me stand up straight, my chiropractor didn't like the fact that they pitched my shoulders back too much and I ended up walking like a pregnant woman. I have a lot of back problems though and basically need to wear perfectly flat shoes, so other people may not experience the same posture issues that I did. It's definitely worth ordering them and trying them out, because this is a terrific shoe that's comfortable and offers great support. I also had no problem fitting my orthotic into the shoe (I wear a size 11-1/2 shoe but always order a 12 to accomodate the orthotic).

Wish they were more comfortable... *(I purchased the brown leather version)* The shoes look great but are not as comfortable as I inticipated. Perhaps I still need to break them in given that I have worn them about 5-7 times so far. They tend to hurt at the back of the ankle (from the backing rubbing on there)and the soles are not as soft as when I first tried them on. (The first time, they felt like slippers-lovely.) But after wearing them and walking in them throughout the day, my feet tend to hurt in certain areas (beginning stages of blisters). I never wear them for more than one day consecutively due to the discomfort. Keep in mind that I wear these shoes to work where I mostly stand and walk for about 7 hours.

Wide feet beware! This is not a shoe for people who have a wide foot. I have a moderately wide foot and can ofter fit medium widths but in some shoes find wide more comfortable. However, even the Wide on this shoe was too narrow for me. I was surprised to see that none of the other reviews said this! I had to return them.

Not really that great. I got these Mary Janes because they look cute and suppose to be comfortable. I was disappointed. First off, they seem to cramp my toes. They look as wide as my dansko clogs, but they feel really tight on my pinky toes. Second, the negative heel does make my back straighter, but put way too much pressure on my heels. After wearing them for half a day, my heels are tired. Oh well. I already worn them out, so I can't return them.

I *loved* everything about these shoes -- except the ankle strap. It dug HARD into my ankle, and completely prevented me from being able to go up on tiptoe to reach anything. As a 5' 3" woman living with a 6' 3" husband, there are enough things stored out of my immediate reach that it turns out I have to go up on tiptoe *a lot*. Returned, because it was so excruciating.

I have a love/hate relationship with Earth Solar. They fit and they are comfortable except for the velcro strap. I have to stick an adhesive bandage on each ankle every time I wear them because the velcro cuts my skin. I tried loosening the straps, tightening the straps, but only bandages work. Perhaps the Earth folks can tinker with the way the velcro is attached to the strap. I suggest attaching the "teeth" side to the shoe and the fuzzy side to the strap. Zappos, please relay my message. Thanks!

I have worn Earth shoes exclusively for about 9 years. When I find a good fit, they are very comfortable but mostly they are very inconsistent with sizing. I was very disappointed with the Solar Earth shoe because the leather chipped off during normal use! I also have a friend that bought them (cheaper looking sole though) at a retail chain store for much much less and I paid about $100. This style has a narrow heel and wide toe area so they are comfortable on my foot. What's going on here? I think these are my last pair of Earth shoes! I expect shoes at this price to hold up better than these have.

Scuffs - Toes are great. Heels rub. Strap is not comfortable. Worst part-after wearing 10 times almost too scuffed to wear.

Comfy but poorly designed - Fairly cute and comfy shoes, if a little clunky-looking. But the velcro straps on both feet lost their stick-um fairly quickly, and when contacted about the design flaw, Earth refused to replace or repair the shoes "because they are made in China." Now I have shoes that are not worn out, but which I keep stepping out of when the ankle straps give way. Not impressed.

Deceiving-quite uncomfortable. I have a desk job, but like wearing flats every once in a while, I like the Pirouette, but it pinched a bit too much so I bought a Solar in W to try. Wonderfully comfy at first, but I thought I was going to cry after 3 or four hours, I don't know if they are "corrective" to the point of pain or there is no cushion in the concrete, but I can wear heels all day and not have the pain in the ball of my foot this induced. I thought maybe it was a breaking in thing-and far too late to return-so I tried them to my weekend job wear I stand for a couple of hours and sit off and on, same story. Same story every time, the ball of my foot ends up sore and painful at the end of a medium amount of time. I can wear them comfortably for short stretches. I am very disappointed.
