I used to love Birkenstocks, so when I saw this new “soft footbed,” I was intrigued and excited to try it. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything soft about it. Maybe if I could compare the hard and so-called soft, I would see what they’re getting at. But these didn’t fit anyway, so they were going back in any case. They’re good looking, for sure. I have wide feet and a high instep. I bought these because I read other reviews that said they were good for wide feet. Maybe so, just not mine.

I ordered 3 of these to see which one worked better. I needed a pair to replaced my very well worn ones. They were so worn I couldn't see what size they were to I ordered 2 size 41s, one in black which was way to masculine looking for me and both super long. So the size 40 should have been the one to keep however, the foot bed by the arch was way narrower than the 2 pairs I have of the same style. Too uncomfortable to wear. I'm really disappointed because I wanted to take them on a cruise with me tomorrow! I guess I'll just have to go to a store to try different ones on now. I compared my old ones to this new pair so I know they are narrower but only in that area. So I have to return all 3 pairs. So sorry Zappos, I have been returning more shoes than I have been keeping lately!! I worry they'll say enough is enough, no more free shipping for you!

I'm sure this is a great item, but the lip on the footbed posed a problem for me. Had the footbed been flat my toes would have been happy, but the upturned lip hit the bottoms of my toes, making it uncomfortable to walk on. Other than that it's a good looking sandal.

These shoes are very light weight but are uncomfortable! The top straps rubbed a sore on my foot. I guess I was expecting the leather to be softer on the inside. I do love the style of the shoe, I will just have to wear bandaids until they are broke in. Lower stars because if I pay $130 I don’t think I should have to break in a shoe.

I hoped these would fit just like my Arizonas, but the straps are placed differently, and they ended up not working for me. The second strap is not as far back toward my ankle as the Arizona, causing more of a flip-flop effect when I walk. Also, the narrow part of the strap near the buckle seemed like it was going to rub and irritate the top of my foot. They sure are cuter than the Arizonas, though.

I love the look of this Burk, much more feminine and cute than the original style. BUT, like others have stated, the strap goes right over the bone on the top of my foot and HURTS. I loosened the buckle all the way, which isn't much, and it made my foot ache just walking around my house for 5 mins. Unfortunately, for this reason, I'm returning them. I don't want to try to see if they feel better after they break in, in case they don't, I don't want to be out $140!

The 38 seems to small and the 39 is too big. Not comfortable and the straps did not fit my foot.

i love the new soft footbed, but I have always been a 39 in this brand and these footbeds are a bit larger.

I love the way they look and really wanted to like them. The footbed starts looking dirty really fast and they felt to hard for me. I didn't feel like they had much arch support. This is my first pair of birkenstocks and heard really great things about them and wanted to give them a try.

I do NOT like the soft foot bed!!! I like the old birds!! The soft footbed takes very valuable space from my wide feet to feel comfortable!!! Perhaps is different for people with bony feet!! I am so disappointed...

Found the leather too stiff and thick.

These are my first Birkenstocks. They fit perfectly but I'm going to have to return them. For some reason the right Sandler makes a funny noise under my toes when I walk. Maybe it's a defect, so I will try reordering and see what happens.

Over all it would have been great if the show had not been so narrow and it runs a bit small

These are cute but the shoe was too wide and big for my foot.

My 2nd attempt at Birks. Original footbed felt like walking on cement. This footbed is softer but I had issues with the side of the shoe bruising my foot. Unrequited love.

I love the style, but my wide feet don't fit comfortably in these soft beds that Birkenstock seems to be doing most of. After years and years of being a true Birkenstock wearer, I think I'm going to have to explore other brands just to get my day to day wear shoe.... or maybe go to Germany and stock up!

Shipping was fast!! Wore it around the house all day. Normally wear a size 37 narrow but this time it didn’t feel comfortable. No back heel space at all. Will try for a 38 narrow.

The style is cute but for my foot, the skinny strap in the middle cut into the bones on the top of my foot, making it uncomfortable. I suppose if I wore them for a long time they might get more comfortable, but I wore them around the house for about 1/2 hour and decided they weren't right for me. Also, I normally get medium width shoes, but Birkies are wide, so I ordered narrow. If you're comfortable with floppy shoes, then regular width is fine. I got the narrow width and that worked better for me width-wise.

The leather is rough and felt very uncomfortable. I'm sure I'd have blisters with these, so sadly they will be returned.

I've tried adjusting the straps every which way, and I can't get them to feel comfortable. If I tighten them down to the last hole they stay on fine, but the edge of the shoe cuts in a little, and if I loosen them by a notch they don't feel as though they would stay on. I'm going to try exchanging them for a soft bed Arizona, but I must say I find the whole Birkenstock sizing thing very puzzling.

I ordered these in my normal Birk size with the wider width. These were a replacement for a pair I had about 5 years ago, same style. These are just a tad narrower than my old model (verified by comparing the bottom widths of the new and old pair) and the location of the bands are not as comfortable. The old pair bands had a wider space between the two bands. So these are not as comfortable for me even though they now have the soft footbed (in fact I got a muscle cramp on the top of my foot while breaking these in- not good). I will be keeping these pair and try to slowly break them in as I really love my old birks. However, for those that like the old style I cannot recommend fully. For those that don't have issues with their feet (like I do) you will probably love these shoes. I have wider toes than my heels (like duck feet) with shorter toes than most folks. My true measured size is 8W on one foot and 8.5WW on the other. I also have a very high arch and some nerve bundle issues in my toes. I ordered this in size 38R. The old style fit me perfectly. This style fits me moderately. I'm hoping once they get broken in I will be able to wear them in longer periods.

I really wanted to like these sandals. However, after wearing them for a week I am finally admitting that I don't like them. I find them clunky or floppy on my feet and I feel frumpy wearing them. I have adjusted the straps countless times. I've worn them every day for at least 4-5 hours to break them in. The footbed is comfortable to stand on, but it's as if I've had to learn to walk in the shoes and I pay far too much attention to how I am walking while wearing them. This is disappointing since I've worked through the stiff leather which is finally softening and the strange placement of the upper strap that rubs on the bony part of the top of my foot. The Catch-22 is that you have to give the shoes time to begin to break in to really know if you are going to like them, but by then it's too late to return them. This has been an expensive lesson for me. This morning, I put on my old pair of Naots and was in love again. Hopefully, my daughter will wear these Birks and I'll feel a little bit better about spending the money.

I always wear a 39. Ordered this a 39 and WAY too big. The toe area looks and feels like a big man should be in it. Not sure if they changed the toe area like this for all shoes. I am returning it. Just ordered another pair of Arizona's a size 39, same shoe as another one I have, but lost the left shoe. I pray it will not have that big toe area.

I really wanted to like these sandals. Unfortunately, the black color was more like a dark grey and the straps were further apart than I wanted them to be. Also, everyone recommended sizing down and I did, but the sandals ended up being too small. I ordered my regular size in the Arizona and they were perfect. The narrow was also too narrow for me but the regular was perfect. Overall, these were cute sandals, but I had to return.
