If you have narrow feet like me, these may not be the boots for you. I tried every one of waterproof boots at REI before settling on these. I do feel like I settled on the one that fit the best, but that's not to say that it actually fits. A great boot, just not one for those of us with slender feet and ankles.

I was excited to find a hiking boot that comes in Narrow! Having tried them on, I feel like the narrow is a scam. These actually felt larger than my existing Oboz. Going back. Don't fall for the scam!

I have medium to widish feet with low arches. The 10 wide was so comfortable but just not quite wide enough in the toe box. So I went up half a size and wear heavier socks and have finally found my perfect hiking boot.

I purchased these boots when I was having some foot problems when walking or hiking moderate distances (3-5 miles). Looking for a sturdy-soled shoe that would bend only little when pressure was applied. These have been AMAZING boots. I spent a great deal of time with about 5 different sizes of the boots, different widths and lengths. I purchased these at a half size larger than my regular shoe size, to give room in the toe. And with wide feet, also the Wide width. Once I found the sweet spot, BAZINGA, I almost want to wear them all the time. The traction is also decent, and I've had no trouble hiking in snow in them, though I definitely need to be cautious on packed snow/ice. For one recent walk, I went in some running shoes, but decided to put on these boots, which had been sitting in my trunk freezing. No more than 10 minutes later, my toes were toasty and warm, though even in the summer my feet did not get too hot. Stock, I'm not entirely certain that the arch support is perfect, but I did add a pair of Superfeet early on, and it was a match made in my foot-comfort heaven. No doubt they'll last me years, and I'm not sure I'll go for any other hiking boot.

I've only had these boots for a few days, but WOW! I love them. They are comfortable, perfect fit and grip the snow easily. I unloaded a few thousand feet of lumber with no problems and can't wait to take them on the trail.

I have been searching for hiking boots to wear in the winter for a long time now and decided on these after trying both Keen boots and Merrells. I have been a dedicated Merrell customer for many years, but I don't like the newer design of the lace-up part. I like metal because it lasts. I like the three top open hooks because it holds the laces as you tighten instead of slipping with fabric loops. The Lowa Renegade fit like a glove as soon as I put them on. They are very sturdy and I wear them as I deliver the mail on my rural route. Although the insert was very comfortable, I replaced them with my own Sole inserts. I love these boots and although they were very expensive, they are worth every penny.

I have narrow feet and have the hardest time finding shoes/boots that fit. After reading many reviews, I decided to purchase these hiking boots. I couldn't believe that they fit right out of the box without having to add insoles or doctor them up in any way. They are warm, comfortable and provide great support. I normally hike in sneakers since I've been meaning to invest in a pair of hiking boots. These are worth the investment and I'm looking forward to testing them out in some rough conditions.

These were my first pair of hiking boots. I used the Zappos reviews to pick this one. I was not disappointed. We went hiking in Hawaii Volcanoes Park and I did not have to break them in. They helped me maneuver through lava fields, tough terrain with no pain.
It has decent arch support, but since I have inserts already, I replaced the included sole with these and it was just perfect. I don't know how they'll age, but I am really happy with my purchase.

Great hiking boot. My choices were limited because of my narrow foot and I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived and fit AND were comfortable!

I have read reviews about the soles of Lowa boots disintegrating after sitting in the closet. Well, the exact same thing happened to me. I had my Lowa boots for about 10 to 12 years and I loved them. I hadn't worn them much (my daughter had borrowed them a few times). Maybe they were worn 20 times in 10 years for light hiking. They were great for the cobblestones of Spain 9 months ago, so I wore them to Peru recently. They looked perfect when I packed them -- nothing wrong with them as far as I could tell. Can you believe, when I got to Machu Picchu, they started to fall apart! First there was a crack in the rubber at the side-bottom of one boot. Then before I knew it, both boots had the exact same crack. By the time I was finished walking around Machu Picchu the bottoms were totally beginning to separate from the tops! I have never seen a shoe or boot disintegrate like that! It's not like I had abused them in any way. I mainly wore them on dry trails and cobblestone streets in dry weather! I AM going to replace them with another pair of Lowas, however. These were incredibly comfortable and accommodated my orthotic insoles very well. I have trouble finding comfortable shoes, so I feel that I can live with them lasting 5 to 10 years. I just wish the company would own up to (what seems to be) a manufacturing flaw. I have read reviews where people complain to Lowa and they seem to just shrug it off. That's not right.

I love these. I wear a 9 in most shoes, 9 1/2 in running shoes and cowboy boots. I bit the bullet and went with a 9 1/2. Turns out I could have used a 9 1/4 if they existed, so 9 1/2 was the best choice. With two pairs of Smartwool socks they're great.
I've hiked a few mountains with them now and I have had no blisters and my toes haven't jammed into the front when going down steep trails. My feet stayed dry crossing a few creeks.
And they're nice looking. Just get them.

I was excited to see these in wide- they are great boots and very supportive, however the wide is still a bit narrower than my regular width keen shoes... so had to return. I guess I need extra wide.

I wear a size 7 and ordered a 7 which worked great. I have one little toe that can be a problem if the shoes are not big enough in that area and these boots work fine! This is my second Renegade. I did have sole separation of my last pair after some years, but I like the boots well enough to take the chance. No real break in period. Just keep hiking!

This is my third pair of Lowa boots and the sizing has changed dramatically. Both of my previous pairs were size 10.5 and fit well. I thought that I'd try this one in an 11 for a little more toe room. Well, they are much smaller than my size 10.5 boots. They are short in the toe. I wear a 10.5 or 11 in regular shoes and often walk out of an 11. These felt more like 10s. Since this brand has changed its sizing and does not offer a boot larger than an 11 I will have to change brands. I am NOT happy because these boots fit my narrow heels and offered good support.

The perfect boot and it comes in narrow! Huzzah! I love this boot. I was able to hike in it immediately without any break in time. The foot and ankle support are great. The toe room is excellent. My feet do not slide forward on an extreme downgrade. I did add berry Superfeet. Zappos sent me several pair which allowed me the time to get just the right fit. I am grateful. My feet are grateful. Sexy color too.

I love these boots! I just hiked 11 miles and a 2000ft elevation change, my first day wearing them, and they felt great! Coming downhill was a bit uncomfortable, but pretty minimal I think for a pair of brand new, unbroken-in shoes; plus downhill is always rougher anyways. 2nd and 3rd day in a row wearing them still proved to be comfortable. I am really enjoying these new boot, plus I think they look great too!

I was hesitant to order this boot due to cost and styling. Looked too "mannish" for me but having a narrow width I am at the mercy of the few manufacturers that make narrow shoes. Add in the fact my 15 year old LLBean boots were on their last strap so to speak, I took the plunge and ordered these. I wear them every day when walking my dogs in the woods and while at first the tongue was a bit stiff, it has relaxed and no longer bothersome. Boot fits true to size and very comfortable. If I get 15 years out of these, they will have been worth the price. Good purchase and I would recommend them.

I was looking for a good quality waterproof walking boot in a wide fitting but the wide in this shoe is more like a medium in other hiking boots. Too narrow for me. Also the boot is stiff both in the sole and the uppers. Unfortunately back they go.

I love these boots so much that I have two pair in different colors. They are true to size - no need to go up half a size - provide excellent support and ankle protection, and are very high quality. Pay a little more and get a boot that lasts.

These hiking boots are very comfortable for me. I like the ease of getting in and out of the shoe. I have wide feet and this is the only boot I know of that comes in wide. Wish they made the lower version in wide as well.

Buy Lowa boots, you will not be sorry. They are the best and I am the hardest person to fit with shoes of any kind. Even good athletic shoes with special insoles are not comfortable to me. My feet, ankles and knees would hurt even just walking around the mall! I searched Zappos for narrow width hiking boots and found Lowa. I ordered a pair and wore them on the carpet several times to make sure that they would be OK but the proof really does not come until you put them to the test! The first day that I wore them out hiking with my dogs I knew I had found a winner. These Lowa boots are so comfortable that I wish I could wear them with everything, everyday (and do so to the extent I can). I hike, run dogs and wear them in place of athletic shoes. I have no pain when wearing my Lowas. They are not heavy on my feet (I have a pair of expensive brand walking shoes and they feel like lead weights), I did not have to break them in and have had no blisters or sore spots, they are not too hot for our New Mexico summers, give great traction for hiking and after about a year of daily use they are still in like new condition except for the dirt! I am sold on their quality and comfort. I wish Lowa made high heels.

This is the hiking boot. I needed a pair for last-minute trip to Northern California, and asked a hiking aficionado colleague for her recommendation. Without hesitation, she said, "The Lowa Renegade GTX." These arrived ready-to-go - no break-in required - and took me over streams, through woods, and on beach hikes without a hitch and in supreme comfort. The one snag was when I realized my sister, also on the trip, had the exact same boots in the exact same color - so we looked like a couple of nerds. But these are popular for good reason!

I loved these boots when I first tried them on, but after wearing them around the house awhile, decided to return them. I have very wide feet and even though I ordered the W, and it seemed W, they were too stiff and tight for my R foot. I also think, after putting my orthotics in, that they seemed a bit small. So, especially if you plan to replace their insoles with your orthotics, I'd order a half to even a full size up.

I bought these shoes after going to REI and was talked into the Vasque boots. I was told the Vasque have a thicker sole and hold up better. In the store I thought I liked them, but ultimately they were not wide enough. Also, they rubbed on my shins when I walked. I considered the Ahnu Montara but they are really "thin" soled shoes. You feel every pebble, so with a pack not sure that would be a good idea. I decided to gamble on these and got them in wide. They are a perfect fit. I have taken them on 2 five mile hikes in the woods so far. Love them. No break in, very comfortable, and one day was 80F and still loved them. No sweaty feet and I wore wool hiking socks. They are thinner soled vs the Vasque, but I do not feel too thin like the Ahnu. Plan on taking on JMT this summer, so that will be the real test for sure. Have not wore in wet conditions yet, so can't attest to that yet. One down side is there is not much arch support. I fixed this with my own inserts.

These Lowa boots have had the same sole separation others here have experienced. These boots have very little wear on them, and have self-destructed. 90% of this failure happened on one 4 hour outing, and it was getting to the point that the sole was about to fall off. I would have had to pull the soles off in order to walk without tripping on them had I any farther to go. Lowa says this is not warrant-able, and is a normal occurrence with the material they use. I feel that if the boots have a “shelf life” where they fall apart without much use, they should come with a warning to that effect. I'm done with Lowa, and am buying quality USA made boots instead of Chinese made from now on. Sad, but Vasque and others have gone the same way.
