I love these boots. They fit like they were made for me. They are very comfortable. I wish I had discovered Lowa earlier in life, but am glad I finally did. Thank you Zappos for carrying quality products like this and for being such a great company to do business with.

Perfect in many ways. Here's why: - Not that heavy (not that light, either, but I don't feel like I'm dragging big cement blocks). - Wide enough, and very comfortable. See size note below - Good laces that "stick" and won't come undone. Regarding size, I measure out at a 10.5 Wide. Based on the other reviews here, I ordered an 11.5 Wide (I would normally get a boot in 11 Wide, but the reviews said go half a step larger, so I went to 11.5) I'm very glad I did. With thick socks, I think I could have gone to a 12, but the 11.5 is about the same length as my other 10.5 and 11 shoes/boots. The toe area is a little cramped, but not in width, more in height if that makes sense, and I thought it would bother me but it doesn't at all. First time I wore them I hiked 8 miles and my feet felt the best they ever did in any boot or sneaker. I did add an insole, though, so that probably helped - highly recommend the super-soft SoftSole brand if you like cushy insoles.

These are awesome boots! Hiking, long distance back packing, snowshoeing, fourth class rock climbing. The one pair I bought over three years ago still does it all very well. The rubber on the bottom is still good and I have only torn a few stitchings on rough granite (nothing a little bit of extreme weather glue did not fix). Even though they smell pretty funky, I take them everywhere because I know they can handle it.I will definitely spend the money again if this pair ever wears out.

My husband has a hard to fit narrow foot. These boots fit perfectly; finally, he no longer has to tug on the laces to try to get his boots to fit snugly.

I have owned a pair of these for eight years , great hiking boots (I only carry day packs, so not heavy loads), great in the city's snow and slush. I needed a larger size after I changed my orthotics. My normal shoe size is 11½, I now have a size 13 in these boots, they are very comfortable out of the box.

This is by far the most expensive pair of boots that I have ever purchased. I tend to be very cheap. I must say that they are worth every penny. I use them every day for work and am very pleased. They are light weight and very comfortable. I purchased these two weeks ago. I will definitely purchase them again if the quality proves to be good over time.

The pair of Lowa Renegades in my closet are nearing the end of their life. Together we have hiked and flown many a mile. You see, in addition to being an avid backpacker and hiker, I'm a Master-rated hang glider pilot and someone who is particular about his gear. Especially, being prone to foot problems, my footwear. My Renegades have seen strenuous hiking duty. Half Dome in Yosemite was among those where they excelled. The rest of my group all had blisters; none for me. The Renegades are as waterproof as advertised, a feature that has been regularly tested. Never a leak at all. Renegades are sufficient for lightweight backpacking, but I limit them to weekend trips at most. For carrying big loads stiffer soles are a must, so there are other boots in the closet for use on longer trips. When hang gliding it's common to land on uneven terrain; rocks, holes and other ankle breakers abound. Solid ankle support is important, especially given my weak ankles. The Lowas have never let me down. The environments my boots are worn in are also a test of durability. Though the soles of my Renegades are now worn to a nub, not once were they ever split, cut or punctured, in spite of being abused by knife-sharp lava rock and other boot killers. The uppers have fared as well. No busted seams or failed padding, though they do look a little worse for wear and tear these days. Love the boots, but they're not perfect. As other reviewers have noted the arch support is weak which in my opinion is not unique to Lowa. Recognized that deficiency during the fitting, so added a pair of aftermarket SuperFeet insoles. Yes, it added to the cost of the shoes, but my feet appreciate the extra care. Renegades run a little a short on length and narrow in width. My feet require a D or E width depending on the manufacturer. The Lowa "wides" work well. Not too loose or too snug, and their narrower heel suits me, too. For many years I wore full-leather Vasque Sundowners, a succession of 4 pairs. Best boot ever (for my feet) and they worked for all my activities. That is, until Nike bought them and changed the lasts (now Sundowners fit like Nikes which I also can't wear). That's when the Renegades entered the picture. They are my "go to" boot for everyday use. Hiking, flying, light backpacking or just to wear around town. They don't do everything, so have closet mates dedicated to carrying heavy loads. When the two share stories my bet is the Lowa Renegades have the best stories to tell! I should also add that I am about to buy another pair. Can't give them a better review than that!

I had to go to a men's size because my feet are too large for women's hiking boots. These come in the narrow B width so it works out well for me. This is my 3rd pair of Lowa hiking boots. They wear well and give great ankle support!

As a woman with 3E width feet, finding footwear is a real challenge. After reading some hiking shoe reviews, I found these. I am a ladies size 8 (which is a 6.5 in mens). I ordered a mens wide 7.5. I also have high arches and wear orthotics. The insole is removable and the boot accommodates orthotics. I found the boot to not feel as comfortable with their insole as there was no real arch support. Once I inserted my orthotics they were great. The wide is a little snug in the toe (I am a 3E after all), but not uncomfortable. I've worn them on some 6-8 mile hikes and have been very happy, including two in rain and mud. Happy enough that I ordered a second pair to put on the shelf for future use. They are comfortable, not overly heavy, and keep your feet nice and dry. Also, the dark gray is really dark. I'd call it black.

I originally ordered a regular (D) width and they were too wide so I returned them. After trying a lot of different brands of the same basic type of shoe (North Face, Columbia, Merrill, Saloman, etc.) and being unhappy, I decided to retry the Lowa in Narrow width and found that they fit perfectly! These shoes are extremely comfortable to wear. This is noticeable the first time you put them on your feet! Definitely a keeper for me.

This is my second pair. The first where standard width. They work out okay. The soles where like new after 4 long years. The tops gave up at the stitched area around the toes. I was lucky to get my second pair in Narrow width. They are even better than pair number 1. I can wear these boats 24-7, you hardly know you have them on. I will buy them again.

I deliver for UPS, so I might some day in fact deliver these boots to you. You will be glad that I did. From walking through wet grass to stepping in puddles to climbing through snow banks to deliver your packages theses boots are awesome. At first I was not a fan as they were very stiff. But they quickly broke in and they are awesome. Pricey, yes, but they are worth it. Your feet will stay dry.

I purchased my first pair of these almost a year ago. My feet are a b width. The narrow size fits me perfect. Break-in time was minimal. Boots made with this type of leather and of several pieces of leather are not waterproof. Even with a Gore-Tex liner. Very water resistant. But I knew this from past experience with other makes and models. I needed a day-hiker/work boot that fit right. I'm a letter carrier for the P.O. This boot is freakin' durable. 11 months of 5-6 days a week at 8-10 hours a day and this boot has not split a seam or delaminated. I'm really impressed.

These boots are really good. I like to wear them with long thick wool socks that I bunch up at the top and really short tight shorts. Like moose knuckle tight if you know what I mean. Once I look hot, then I go put these bad boys to work. Great support and aggressive tread allows me to hike perpendicular to the mountain.

This is the third pair of these boots I have ordered from Zappos. Great fit and the wide suites me fine. I wear these boots 365 days a year which includes around 60 days a year of hiking and hunting. My pack runs between 15 to 25 pounds and these boots support me well. Occasionally I am lucky enough to pack out an additional 75 pounds and they still work okay. This over some of the rough country in the Blue Mountains.

I am on my 3rd pair of these boots and I've never had a more comfortable or durable boot. I normally get about 2 1/2 to 3 years wear out of them and don't do any maintenance to them at all. I ride my motorcycle about 25 to 30,000 miles a year and wear them when I ride because when I arrive at a destination I can walk for long periods with these boots on. They are fantastic!

I wear these boots instead of snow boots all winter. They are amazingly warm, waterproof and comfortable. I can walk around in them all day, and be outside in 2 feet of snow and they feel great. My last pair of boots were Lowa, too. Needed a bigger size because my feet grew. Now my mom wears the old boots. They are indestructible.

Great boot! A very stiff boot, but at the same time very comfortable. I use them every day for work. I work with a bunch of high energy search dogs, so I needed a very stable boot. I highly recommend this boot, and with Zappos return policy it's a no brainer.

Awesome boots! This was my second pair. I still have my old pair and just can't give them up yet. The first pair are about 7 years old and have been worn almost 7 days a week. Other than changing out the insoles they have held up great! I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I have owned a handful of different brands of hiking boots from the higher end European brands to the cheaper Chinese made stuff. The one thing they all have in common is that none of them last forever. If you log a lot of miles on any boots within a couple years it's going to start falling apart. There is no such thing as indestructible hiking boots that last for 10 years if you really use them a lot. Even if they are the kind that can be resoled the rest of the boot will fall apart. With that being said there is nothing special that I can say about these boots except for the fact that they were for me at least extremely comfortable right out of the box and required no break in time whatsoever.

I purchased the leather lined (LL) version of these boots so there is a technical waterproofing difference from the GTX version, but they both remain practically the same in terms of shape and performance. I'd never owned or worn Lowa boot boots prior to ordering these online. I was literally ordering blind and taking a chance on the sizing. My feet are 8.5 US, extra wide (at least 4E+). I decided to order the Renegade LL's in size 9 US Wide. Wow, when I got them and slipped them onto my feet while wearing my mid-weight, merino wool Icebreaker hiking socks I was surprised at how small the toebox felt. My toes weren't constricted by any means, but what I noticed was how the toebox volume felt small. If you look at the Renegade toe area, you'll notice how much the toebox slopes and curves on top of the toes; in contrast, if you check Lowa's other boots especially models with the rubber rands, you can tell they have a squarer shape on top of the toes and hence higher volume. These boots were slightly stiffer than they looked, but after wearing them around the house I could tell they'll break in very quickly and soften up in no time. I love the fit and feel, but be careful with the sizing. Try to get fitted in store before you order online. For those with wide feet, I'd highly suggest ordering at least a 1/2 size bigger than your feet size, if not 1 full size bigger. And also upgrade to the Wide width (I wouldn't have made it if the width was Standard D, no way). Lacing these up is super easy and the lace length is just perfect.

This is my first experience with Lowa. I ordered these in wide and with all boots my feet require a few days to break in. These were comfortable through my first hike which was a 10 mile trek through Rocky Mountain National Park in September: Hot and cool, incline and decline. I will purchase Lowa again.
