These shoes rubbed on my heel for the first 2 weeks. After they got broke in they were the most comfortable shoe ever.

I buy a version of this shoe each fall in addition to a Keen hiking shoe. Both are very well made and I wear them every day. BUT, I must confess Keen doesn't have enough arch support, so as soon as I receive them I take out the insole and replace with my Birkenstock blue arch supports with a cheap Dr. Scholl's insert to soften up the feel.

Love these shoes! Having just gotten them, one issue is that the tongue on the right shoe continually causes my foot to fall asleep despite several attempts to tie it looser, etc. I expect this will resolve as I break them in.
These fit me well overall. I have feet that are narrow at the heel and wide at the toe, with no arches. I normally wear a 6 in any brand, and these fit in a 6.

Keen, in my experience, always runs a bit small in the length, so I always buy a half size up from what I actually wear.

Great shoe and very comfortable. I'm a size 9, in this shoe a 9 1/2. A little wider than my other Keens...I wasn't happy about that part, but kept the shoe. No break in needed. Zappos service cannot be beat!

Overall, I like my Keen Toyah shoes which I purchased for my trip to Ireland and London for three weeks. I wanted a pair of sturdy brown shoes that could handle all sorts of terrain, weather, and I could wear pretty much everywhere. I purchased them a half size larger than my usual average size of 6.5 due to the reviews on Zappos, and I'm glad I did. After a day or so that I ordered, I spotted them at the mall, and when I tried a 6.5 it was poor fit as the molded inside didn't match my feet. It was a bit funny because my Persidios (which I was wearing to break in) at the time were 6.5 and were similar to the Toyah, but fit fine. I was a bit concerned that I didn't have time to break the Toyah shoes in as it arrived just before I was to leave, but thankfully I didn't need any break in time! My "broken in" Presidios were giving me so much pain in the upper heels, that I switched them on/off with the Toyahs which was perfect right out. Later on when my Presidios were fine on my feet, I still liked to wear my Toyahs a bit more. I have the brown (dark) with blue accent threading pair of Toyah which was a perfect color to match a lot of my traveling clothes. I wore these shoes well from downtown Dublin to all around the Republic and Northern Ireland. Walked into various museums, walked in open turf, gravel, sandy beaches, carpeted walk ways, etc. Toyahs were great! Even when it rained it faired a bit better than my Presidios. There were spot of wet patches coming from the bottom of the shoe, but I were fine on top as it poured a couple of days in both countries. If it didn't get wet patches on the inside (it's not sweat), I would say these are the perfect shoes. They go with many things, and still wear them today. I didn't have to worry about sliding around on the ground or my feet inside my shoes as they were locked in. Even with the problems with the wet weather, I am thinking about purchasing another pair, perhaps I got defective pair in the first place?

These shoes have been great. I ordered them so I could have a sturdy, functional shoe to get me through walking around my college campus in snow, ice and slush and they have been perfect. They also have served me well on a short hike through muddy woods. My only complaint is that I ordered a half size too big, but only really realized this after I'd worn them outside. This was my own fault, I realize, so I just always have to wear them with thicker wool socks. I'm normally a 9.5 or 10, and I went for the 10 when I should have gone with the 9.5. So my recommendation is that when you order these, order on the smaller size.

After the redesign of the Keen Briggs, I've switched to the Toyah. It's really comfortable and accomodates my custom orthotic. I found the smell of the new version of the Briggs to be overpowering; the Toyah didn't have a strange smell. I call these shoes ugly-cute. They're not the most stylish shoes in the world, but I wear them almost every day and have never had any discomfort. There was no break-in time.
I took off one star because the Brindle color has started to look a bit dirty--it seems to be absorbing the dye from my jeans. I loved the color the first few months because it goes with everything. I wish my jeans weren't staining it, but it's not a major problem.
I'm going to order these in black next. I hope they keep this style around for a long time. As usual, Zappos was fabulous!

These are the Best! Super comfort from the first moment, with good support. They're not exactly cute, but they're nice enough for what they are.

I purchased these in size 10 "Slate Black" which is actually brown as the picture depicts. They are sturdy and seem very well made. There was one stray stitch near the top that needs to be cut off. Although the footbed feels good, for me, these shoes are too rigid, a bit heavy, and a bit too wide in the heel for a woman's shoe. Also, although I only wore them for a short bit, I think the way the heel is contoured it would rub me a blister, at least initially. So I'm returning them. I have been waiting for Keen to make something light and waterproof like the Astoria again.

Although our small mountain town offers many opportunities to buy athletic shoes locally. I find myself retuning to Zappos. They have great prices, no tax, free shipping and excellent customer service! I bought these Keens for travel to Spain where I plan to walk miles on cobblestone streets and back country trails. Please note that the Urban Chic color is green, not dark gray as it appears on screen. At least on my computer!

Nice looking shoe and good quality as you'd expect from Keen! Leather is a bit stiff, though, and I had to put heel protectors in the back of the shoe to prevent blisters. Also, it is not obvious in the photo, but laces are almost a greenish color.

The shoes are quite comfortable. I like the way they look and feel on my feet. I thought they might have a slightly higher wedge and my feet feel a little cold when I wear them. Otherwise a great shoe!

These shoes are beautiful. I love the blue stitching. I ordered my regular "Keen" size and they were big. I couldn’t keep them on my heels. They slipped a lot. I sent them back and haven’t ordered a smaller size yet to compare. The insoles are removable for those with custom orthotics.

I thought these were going to be more comfortable than they are. They go up too high all around the ankle and hurt. I'm pretty disappointing, but have already worn them. Probably won't get much use. :-(

These shoes are truly ugly but I didn't care as long as they were comfortable and had good arch support. Unfortunately, they arrived with a small damage - stitches unraveling - and they make a loud clip clopping sound when I walk. The back of my foot keeps sliding up out of the shoe even with heavy socks on so I will be returning them. I wear a size 8 but if I had ordered a 7.5 my big toe would be hitting the front of the shoe. It's too bad because otherwise they have wonderful arch support. I'm going to try to find another pair of shoes made by Keen. Perhaps another style will be a better fit for me.

Left and right shoes seemed to be made on different assembly lines, one fitting entirely different than the other.

Fabulous fit except for the heel which is hard, sharp and painful. I have blood stains on the backs from the blisters that opened. Other than that, I love the shoe. I would not buy it again unless they padded the heel like they do with the Presidio.

I was disappointed that these were too wide in the heel, even with a very big sock on. I needed new shoes so I ordered a new pair of the Keen Presidios, which I bought last fall. They fit well and are super cute, but I hope this new pair lasts a bit longer than the last pair which I wore out walking last winter.

These are cute shoes, though they do make the foot look wide. They are a bit stiff also but still comfortable. I wear an 8 1/2 and that held true in this shoe.

I love these shoes; however, I can only wear them in the winter since they make my feet sweat relentlessly (& therefore smell).

The shoes were hard at first, but they fit much better on my feet after wearing them for more than a week. If you have wide feet, this design gives you enough room to be comfortable.
I love the color and style of these shoes, but one downside is that they don't breathe well. If your feet perspire (even a little), the shoes get pretty sweaty inside.
The mechanics of the shoes are very comfortable, but the no breathing part makes it less comfortable - that's why I only scored it 3 "overall".

Received the shoes very quickly after ordering. Although I love Keens and actually wore the last pair I purchased right out of the store, these were not the right fit for me. The back of the shoe dug into my heel and I just knew blisters would shortly follow. I'm disappointed as I really liked the look and color of the shoes (the color is not well represented on my computer but I really liked the greenish tint). Had to return them. Turn around for the return is not as quick as the initial purchase. I think I'll head to the store to get new shoes so I can try them on. Thanks anyways Zappos.

The Keen Toyah runs pretty much true to size if you are used to wearing the Keen shoes. I ordered my usual shoe size, size 8 and it was the usual fit but with a bit more room. That said, however, it is not like the other Presido Keens which I definitely think are better made and a good deal more comfortable with more support and a better bang for your money. This Toyah just does not feel substantial on your foot and does not have the arch support that the other Keens have. If you are shopping for a Keen, choose the Presido over the Toyah for three reasons: comfort, color options, and cost.
