I wanted so much to love these! I just could not get them on and off easily. I mean it meant tugging and pulling, sitting and standing...ugh! Once on, the fit was good, but heel a bit big. I worked up a sweat getting them on and off. These just won't work for me! Sorry, returning.

I ordered this boot in the black suede. It is a little bit more western looking than what I thought but I do like them. Very comfortable boot. I got it in size 7 1/2 which is what I normally wear and it fits true to size. The bottom of the boot was very slippery initially. I had to scuff them. It took a few wearings to break them in as they were very stiff initially. Now they are perfect and I get lots of compliments on them.

Great boot! I? don’t love that there’s no zipper, and the bottom bunches slightly, but I’m overall happy with this boot!

Great quality and beautiful looking boots. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars overall is that the calf width is quite narrow. I have small calves compared to my foot size and never have issues with fitting into boots. The uppers will need to be stretched some before I can wear them with jeans. The bottoms of these are also so slick, I literally can slide on the industrial carpet in my office. But both of those issues are minor, and I love the color (I purchased the deep red/burgundy color) and appearance of these boots.

I ordered this boot in slate. The color was beautiful! I was able to get my foot in the boot but the calf was snug. I decided to return the regular Melissa and order the extended calf. I didn’t know how much of a difference there would be but the extended calf is so much more comfortable. Zappos customer service is amazing!

After accepting the fact that I would probably NEVER find boots that don’t swallow my narrow calves, I discovered Frye! They cost more than I would normally spend on boots, but the fit and quality are worth it. When I tried these boots on for the first time, I discovered they were VERY slick on the bottom – so much so that I slipped on my carpeting. I scuffed the soles and heels on the pavement, which remedied the situation. I sealed my boots with a Scotch Gard product for suede. The spray left some spots on application; however, they disappeared when the product dried completely. The spray did not affect the color. I also purchased a soft horse hair suede brush that I use each after each wear. I purchased the elephant suede. The color is a beautiful, rich taupe/neutral that works wonderfully well with black, denim, Bordeaux, white, and many other colors. I was apprehensive about buying suede boots for fear they would not wear well and would be too delicate. So far, the boots are holding up beautifully. Some online research alleviated my worries, after I learned that with proper care, suede can last and maintain its beauty for years and year. The boots are pretty comfortable. I wear 8.5 narrow, and the 8.5 B works for me. The boots are made in Mexico. I am very pleased with my purchase and would buy Frye again.

Take a little while to break in due to the leather being quite hard. Hold up better than others boots but I guess it's true what they say you get what you pay for.

The fit still isn't great.

I have the Frye Melissa Button boot, Style 77167 in Cognac and love them! Since I have a hard time finding any shoe/boot to fit my narrow foot, I decided to order these in black. I don't know why, but they were huge - both the foot and the shaft/calf circumference! It feels like an "extended calf" boot, but isn't supposed to be. The boot is stamped 34-77167.

Simple sleek and clean beautifully made. Seems to run narrow in toe area, also not very easy to put on or off. I am 5"4 finding boots that don't run over me is a challenge. I am keeping these because I feel they will stretch out with a few times of wearing the boots. Yes, a pair of boots fashion part I do love, Function needs a little more work

This is my second pair of this same boot, long story short I left my first pair which I had been wearing for 8 years in a hotel room and they "mysteriously disappeared". Anyway, I ordered a replacement, same color, size and style and I have to say I am a little bit disappointed. The leather on the shaft seems significantly thinner and of less quality than the first pair I had. Other than that they are beautiful boots and I get many compliments when I wear them.

I ended up returning these & ordering a different pair. The cognac was much darker than the picture & these boots looked chunkier & more masculine in person...especially compared the Philip Harness I ended up going with. They did feel true to size, but not having a zipper made them difficult to put on.

I ordered a 9.5 and was surprised that I had to send these back to get a size smaller. Usually I wear a 9 or 9.5, and I figured with all the reviews that they run small I should size up. My heel slipped even with winter socks in the size 9.5. Size 9 good so far. They have no traction whatsoever, so don't plan on wearing them in icy or wet conditions.

This is my second pair of Melissa Button boots I also have the Cognac color - I had those first! While I love these boots cause they are a good height for me - I'm short 5'2 - I noticed that the black ones I ordered second are about an inch higher then the cognac ones and the black ones are a little easier getting my foot into. Also the black ones have more of a rounded toe compared to the cognac ones I have.I just find it odd and a little discouraging that such an expensive boot would have such glaring differences esp. the height.
