Classic look! Everyone needs a pair in black and brown no matter your profession or the occassion. These look great with a pair of kakis but even better with suit ro wool suit pants. Quality is superb. Keep them shined and take care of them and they will literally last forever. I have bought Ferragamos and other "italian" brands, made in Mexico; nothing, however, compares to the quality of Allen Edmond. Still made in the USA, you can tell that this company takes pride in its produce---a rarity these days.

I have been wearing AE's for over thirty years. (I'm 55) While I have changed the quality and fit of AE's have not. I wear an 11B and the fit is the same year after year in AE. I bought the 5th Ave. just to have a different captoe in my closet. It looks great and wears all day with no fatigue on my feet. AE's are like old friends to me. I never get tired of them. I currently have seven pair of AE and will add more. Keep up the good work!

I purchased a brown pair in the store and liked them so much I bought a black pair on-line a month later. My first pair hurt my feet for about three days prior to getting them broken in and getting my feet used to the new shoe. With the black pair, it only took about a day to break them in with minimal soreness . I typically wear one of the two pairs every day. They are comfortable, look great, and so far have held up really well considering my commute is a combination of walking, bus, and metro. I do wear rubbers over them most days to protect them during my commute.

I bought these shoes and were concerned about the level of comfort since I usually purchase J&M rubber soled shoes. The fifth avenue far exceeding my expectations with comfort and how well they have held up commuting on the SI Ferry everyday. I would highly recommend the shoe.

Owing to its leather sole, it may not be the most adaptable dress shoe I've ever owned. After all, in comparison to some of my other dress shoes, I can't decide to go for a hike while I have them on. But, that's not why I bought them. I bought them because I wanted a dedicated dress shoe, and that's what this is. The interior is comfortable and supportive for full day without wearing you down. There is enough spring to keep the foot relaxed, without leaving you with the feeling that you are dragging your feet through shag carpet. The exterior is firm enough to hold its shape through out the day and over time. Except for the slight break in crease, they look like I just bought them yesterday. The leather itself is durable, resisting the scratching and scuffing that has plagues my other dress shoes. As for why it isn't the best shoe I've ever owned? I had a pair of Reebok Pumps when I was a kid. Those made me feel cool.

My dad took me to Port Washington in 1985 to buy my first pair of Allen Edmunds, and to this day, it is the only dress shoe I buy. The Fifth Avenue is the perfect all around shoe, it is dressy enough to wear with a suit yet casual and works well with dress slacks and a sweater.

Fifth Ave is a great shoe - it is a timeless style yet still very stylish. As with all my experience with AE shoes - great quality!

Shortly after purchasing my first pair of these shoes many years ago, I went to pick up my car from a repair shop. For whatever reason the shop was closed and I had no ride leaving me no alternative but to walk. It was about 4 miles. After getting home and changing I realized I had just walked 4 miles in my dress shoes! No pain, discomfort, blisters, rubbing...nothing! I will not buy another brand and now own all varieties of nothing but Allen Edmonds shoes.

I currently have 17 pairs of AE shoes. The oldest are over 20 years old and the most recent were purchased in mid 2012. I have both casual and lace ups and several have been refurbished.

My goal is to own only one or two pair of black dress shoes and the 5th Avenue is my selection for this coveted spot. The leather is so stiff that it shine beautifully. I'm still not sure they are broken in and I"m on my first recrafting. I think that's a good thing. The fit is so good you could wear them all day. Some people like to take their shoes off at their desk but you don't need to with these. I got the C width which I don't think they make anymore but it was as close to a custom fit as you can get. The shoe of U.S. Presidents is the Park Ave but the 5th Ave is his younger hipper brother.

These are a perfect pair of dress shoes. The right amount of dressiness with still some interest and style. I love everything about them and will never go back to cheap shoes. These are built very well, and if taken care of, should last many years. Do it!

First time I spent this much on a pair of shoes and first time buying through Zappos. Don't regret either decision. Love the shoes. As soon as I held them I knew I had a quality shoe. And Zappos service was fantastic. First shoe I got was not wide enough. They could not have made the return process any easier. I love talking with their customer service people. I will never buy shoes at a store or anywhere except Zappos.

This shoe looks great with dark gray and charcoal suits. They fit well out of the box and were comfortable my first 2 days in the office although the sizes definitely run narrower than other shoes. Getting fit in the store is a must. The first week with these shoes has been great.

Bought a pair of these about 5 years ago and have been wearing them at least 3 times a week since. I live/work in London and walk about 2 miles a day. After about a year I had a very thin rubber topping sole fitted by a quality cobbler which is more practical given the amount of rain and wear they get. I have them re-healed at least once a year, polish them with neutral wax once a week, always let them dry when wet and use shoe trees. By far the most comfortable and well made shoes I own, better then Church and Cheaney. Upper leather in top condition with no cracks. Well done AE!!

I bought a pair of black Fifth Avenue a year ago on a trip to NY together with a pair of Strands. They were actually my first pairs of AE and after a few days of breaking in became my favorite shoes to walk in. Very comfortable, quality like I expected them with this price tag and simply beautiful. I unfortunately realized weeks later (I know, kind of very late) that the tongue on both sides are too short. They are actually shorter then the lacing. Since I discovered this too late, I did not contact AE. After all, that was my fault. But I take a closer look now on every shoe before actually buying them. And I own now 5 pairs of EA. :)

I have worn the Fifth avenue shoes for 1 week. The shoes are comfortable to walk in. I don't think that it takes long time to break in.

As with all AE shoes, great fit right out of the box. Very comfortable to wear all day. The purchase of the shoes over the internet could not be easier. High quality shoes that last and last. Very pleased with all AE products.

I bought the Fifth Aves in Walnut Calf, which is a beautiful looking shoe. Unfortunately after wearing them twice the heel began to separate from the shoe. I called the local store I bought them from and was told to bring them back and they would make it right. They didn't have the Fifth Aves in the same size and color so I opted for the Strand. They did offer to re-heel them at no charge and would have exchanged them if they had my size. No questions asked. I had my receipt, which I think made the transaction easier, but I got the impression that they would have taken care of it even if I didn't. I would still recommend this shoe to a friend, and would consider repurchasing myself. Great fit and great looking shoe, in fact I received two compliments on them wearing them the first day. And after the customer service experience I received I know if something went wrong, I'd be taken care of.

I have had this shoe for over 10 years and have worn it to many occassions. I have had to do many things I did not play to do when I put them on but they were comfortable all day "No matter what". I have even walked in a parade in this shoe with no complaints. This is a classic elegant shoe and should be a part of every man wardrobe. Could be your most perfect shoe.

Men dress shoes can tend to be boring, especially in black in the office environment. They all look the same! But try out the dark brown fifth avenues for a while, and you might find a stylish but conservative alternative that will turn heads in the office.

I purchased the Fifth Avenue in black from a local retailer about six months ago. At the time I tried them on the first time they fit like a glove, and were quite comfortable. After six months of use, they're just as comfortable. This style fits in perfectly with both formal and business occasions. I'm exceptionally pleased with these shoes and with the service I received when purchasing them.
