I purchased a pair of Strand shoes in Walnut to replace a discontinued style of shoes that I had finally worn out after several recraftings. I feel like every new pair of Allen Edmonds shoes I buy becomes my favorite pair, and this pair is no exception. I have been a loyal Allen Edmonds customer since I bought my first pair of dress shoes 20 years ago. I never even look at other brands now because the design, quality and customer service at Allen Edmonds have never disappointed this loyal customer.

We know the western saying about dying with one's boots on. Well, Allen Edmond's Strand proves it. O.K., we all know how classic and handsome they are, and how many compliments we get wearin' 'em, but it's also how it feels to look down and say to yourself; you are lookin' great, my friend. But here's the great part. If you're new to AE fine shoes, it's like getting new hand made cowboy boots. Break them in, Wear them for a while. And one fine day, you'll put them on, and they will have become "yours". Your feet will slide in with that feeling that they are a part of you. I can't wait 'til they're as worn out as I am, so I can get new ones and start all over again. Re-crafting is fine for my other AE shoes, but these Strands will never leave me -- any of them.

Strand in walnut is my favorite. I get a lot of compliments when I wear these shoes. When I wear a different brand shoe after wearing Allen Edmonds for a while, I can easily tell the difference.

This is the first ever high-end shoe I purchased and it hasn't disappointed me. Its amazing how much better a shoe feels when its made around the sole; the leather sole literally formed to my foot and now my shoes feel as good as slippers. I bought this shoe last year as my first pair of Allen Edmonds and right away I began receiving compliments; the shoe stands out in a classy way. I have owned my shoes for a year now, wear them all the time and am impressed how well they have held up and continue to perform. The Walnut color goes with most of my suits; I'm thinking a pair of black Allen Edmonds will go well with the rest. Buy these shoes and you're buying great value.

Shoes made like shoes made years ago !!! Made in USA ! Made to be reheeled and soled many times again like shoes back in the 40's and 50's when quality meant something ! These shoes are an investment you can be proud of !

I have 4 Allen Edmonds total. These were the higher priced of all my shoes and they are definitely the nicest. I got the brown shoes. They are great because I don't see that color around as much as I see some of the other colors. (although I still do want the other colors (so....I will be looking for them too))

I bought my walnut strands back in the winter with the thought of breaking them in indoors before the Chicago weather turned better. These have been a great pair of shoes for me. I have a history of being fairly tough on my shoes and after 6 months of wearing them two-three times/week these still look brand new. The leather is very supportive all around my foot and gives me hours of comfort on my feet all day. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a pair of dress shoes that will last a long time.

Little did I know when I stepped into the Strand, I bound myself to a timeless and utterly unbelievable new brand. With its shape, design, and sophistication, I stepped up to a newfound position and classification. Traveling through the halls only reinforced my decision, my pursuit of perfection had been fulfilled in this shoe's precision. I must commend AE for their commitment and care, going forward that name will be on my every pair.

This is a beautiful shoe. The craftsmanship and the detailing are second to none. I normally don't do shoes with brogue detailing but the way it looked on my foot convinced me to try it. The was mildly comfortable out of the box, but really softened up after a few wears (contrasted to the Park Avenue, which is on the same last but for some reason didn't soften up as quickly). I purchased the shoe in Walnut and the shoe does show scuffs quite easily; however, it quickly gives the look of a well worn shoe (not in a bad way) and keeps its shape remarkably well. I would recommend the Strand to anyone.

The Strand is my favorite pair of AE shoes. I sized down a half size from my typical shoe size (so 11.5D from 12D), and have worn them enough to require their first recrafting. The leather has softened to a wonderful supple feel and has developed a nice patina.

These are simply gorgeous. The fit and finish is flawless. I usually like wingtips but this captoe seems to bridge the gap between formal and everyday business wear. I got the Walnut, that's a little lighter in color than the photo online, but it's a great color especially for sumner.

Strand is the thorobread race horse (for show and collection) or workhorse shoe. It is to be worn for dress , casual, shorts, socks or none doesn't matter it fits in. Strand can be the only 1 pair of dress leather shoes you may own. It is made like all Allen Edmonds shoes to be worn everyday, rode broken in. This shoe can do it all, all day everyday of the week. It can get wet, no harm done,simply place it in its shoe tree, let slowly dry out, treat it and shine it up. Next day unbelievable, its better than it. was the day before. Not that getting a shoe wet is the intent however AE knows it's going to happen. The mores you wear the shoe the better it gets. The uppers properly sized will mold to your foot. Yes there is a breaking period, all truly good shoes have them. Once that upper is broken in, as I told my best friend. "Never part with it or your hard earned principal". Get them rebuilt. A good shoe will see you thru the good times and those not so good. A good shoe on a good man is probably a daily personal reminder of lifes wonderful journey,. They are with you no matter what tellling a personal story where you been, always ever ready for the road ahead, where your going.

I have Strands in walnut and bourbon and will likely buy a pair in Merlot within the next year. These are perhaps AE's best looking shoe. The broguing and pinking is done well and give this cap toe the versatility to dress up or down and always look great. I wear a half size down from my regular shoe size in length and they fit perfectly. For care of the walnut color I recommend occasional use of AE shoe cream in light brown and a light touch with the brown heel and sole edge dressing as needed.

I've never had a dress shoe hold up as well as these do. I'm so impressed by the craftsmanship and excellent customer service from Allen Edmonds. These shoes have made me a customer for life.

These shoes are very comfortable and are made with such high quality. I am banker and have owned many different pairs of shoes and these are the best far. I receive compliments every time I wear them. Definitely worth the money.

My Walnut Strand are the first pair of Allen Edmonds I've bought. I'm gotten many compliments on them and really love the look. They put me a few steps above in style compared to everyone else at my office. Can't wait to buy some more pairs of Allen Edmonds.

I have a closet full of AE shoes, but these and my Clark Streets are my favorites. First of all, the Strand is very comfortable. Evidently, the 5 last is a good fit for me. I get more compliments on the Strands than any of my other shoes. The walnut version is beautiful and really brings out the details of the Strand design. I would say that this design is one of AE's most versatile and really epitomizes the brand.

Not only do these shoes fit wonderfully (I have a very wide foot and high instep so very few shoes fit my feet), but they're the best looking shoes I've ever owned. I wear them with a grey suit and they look great then switch to jeans and they still match perfectly. If you're looking for an investment in a nice pair of shoes that go anywhere and with almost anything, buy the Strands. Mine are walnut and if they were lost today I'd buy a new pair tomorrow. Awesome!

If there's one shoe I could choose to wear the rest of my life, it would without a doubt, be my pair of Walnut Calf Strands. The leather is durable yet pliable; and while the break in period may be a while, the shoes become exceedingly comfortable to wear. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a less a conservative dress shoe or as footwear for special events.

There just is nothing like wearing a pair of Allen Edmonds Cordovans. I have plenty of AE calf skin shoes but these shoes make me feel special when I wear them. These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn!

Best AE purchase I've made. Looks great in full suit, or with jeans and a blazer.

I have two pairs of the Strand, one in bourbon and one in oxblood. Both are excellently made and a beautiful color. I would like it if the 5 last were just a bit shorter but the overall fit is quite good. They are a main staple of my shoe rotation.
