I bought a factory second pair of walnut strands. They are terrific. I never thought there could be a dress shoe even more comfortable than the park avenue but I was wrong, these are incredibly comfortable. Fortunately I tried them on in the store before purchase as I needed a size wider than in the park avenue. I wear a 6 1/2 D in park avenue very comfortably but needed a 6 1/2E in the strand for the same comfort level. Love the look of the shoe would highly recommend. I walk comfortably in New York City with no problem with these. I couldn't tell the difference, the factory second looked brand new to me.

I bought these shoes in-store and am so glad I did. The shoes run narrow, so it is important to get the correct fit unless you already know. I am very pleased with the appearance of the shoe (I bought the Strands in Walnut) because they compliment just about everything. I had one minor problem with the shoe and this is where the customer service kicks in. The rubber heel liner started to separate from the rest of the heel so I took them back to the store I purchased them from. They returned the shoe at their cost and I had the shoes back, re-healed and polished within two weeks, shipped to my address. I could not be happier with my purchase. BTW, please do yourself a favor and get the shoe trees. These are not bargain-bin shoes and they should be treated like you paid decent money for them.

The Strand has become on of the staples in my everyday wardrobe. As a medical student I am definitely on my feet all day walking from one patient room to another patient's room. I can take these shoes from the hospital setting to a late dinner without having to think if I'm going to be under dressed. The look is sheer classic. My favorite part of this shoe is the comfort. I guess that's what I should expect with a shoe that was perfectly fitted and sized for me by an Allen Edmond associate. Thanks again for being an awesome shoe maker AE!

I am extremely lucky that the strands were the first Allen Edmond shoes that I owned. The fit is true to size, the quality unmatched at the price, and an extremely versatile style that works in and out of the office. While the Park Avenue is a must have formal shoe, first time buyers should be looking at the Strand for their versatility. I've since acquired multiple other pairs of shoes, but my walnut Strands have received the most compliments, and gotten others looking into Allen Edmonds as well.

Read about how this shoe was an overall favorite and I initially overlooked it. I needed a timeless burgundy dress shoe with a little flair and I realized this was the perfect style. The shoe has lots of detail and is well crafted. The oxblood color is for the understated gentleman who wants to be noticed subtly without shouting. It's worth it.

I have recently purchased a pair of the special order blue 'Strand' shoes. The craftmanship and fit are terrific. When I wear them, I feel like Moses parting the Red Sea because people stop, stand back, and admire the shoes. Your designers have really outdone themselves this time. They have created a true "One of a Kind". Great job! You can do anything but don't step on my Blue Strand Shoes!

Strand and Park Avenue are the two most iconic images that pop to mind when I think Allen Edmonds. Specifically, I think of walnut Strands and black Park Avenues. Strands truly look great in every color. It's a shame that bourbon is no longer available. My pair of Strands are in walnut. I have come very close to purchasing an additional pair in another color. The shoes fit perfectly, and they are a timeless classic that will never go out of style. I own about a dozen Allen Edmonds and have been buying them for 20 years. I've kept my shoes in excellent condition by following a few guidelines. I clean and condition my shoes before the first use. Since the shoes might have been in inventory for a while, you want to make sure the leather is hydrated before wearing them. After that it's just regular intervals of cleaning, conditioning, and polishing/shining. And of course I always use proper fitting cedar shoe trees. Another important bit of information is to not wear the same pair of shoes on successive days. This way the shoe has time to naturally dry out between wearings.

This is not my first pair of Strands--which are go-to shoes in any business setting--but this is my first pair in burnished calf/oxblood. This is a deep brown color with hints of brown. It is an excellent companion to navy and blue suits and holds its own with gray suits as well. Beautiful.

These shoes are absolutely beautiful! Well made, intricately detailed, and a deep, rich walnut color that promises to only get better with time. Can be dressed down with a pair of dark blue jeans, or dressed up with a light to medium gray suit. I can see why the Strand is Mr. Grangaard's favorite style!

I came across an article 7-8 years ago that showed the Strands in Walnut. I went to the AE store and tried them on in Walnut and made it my mission to buy these immediately after. Fresh out of college I had to penny pinch but these have been well worth it. They fit like a glove, very comfortable. After 3 years of steady daily use I have sent them in for recrafting once since purchase and had them roughly 4 years. They came back from recraft in almost new condition. After going through the cycle from new to beat up to recrafted I was very pleased and decided to buy another pair in Merlot(very close to the Oxblood color) with the deep discount offer. Just as pleased to add this new color to the rotation. I also have the black Park Aves but almost wish all three were in the strand style. Highly recommend this shoe.

I have had a pair of Strands now for over two years. I've used AE's recraft program to resole them since I wear them walking in the city quite a bit. The quality is incredible at this price point. I have a pair of walnut and the burnishing is perfect. Stitching is impeccable as is the broguing. The shoe fits long and is slightly low volume, so I went down a half size in length and up a width. They fit perfectly. The cork makes them incredible despite me walking miles in them each day on concrete. These are my most complimented shoes. I am very, very pleased

I recommend an in store fitting if this is your first pair of AE shoes - being able to try on a few pairs (and even widths) goes a long way towards having a good experience.

I'd heard many sing praises of Allen Edmond shoes and the arguments for investing in good quality dress shoes, but I'd never gotten around to spending the extra money. I just didn't have a need since I don't dress up very often to warrant getting nice shoes. This year my job required that I travel a little more and potentially needed to suit up more often. So I decided to finally get a pair of Allen Edmonds. It was a good excuse to finally see what the fuss is all about. I decided on the Strands in Walnut. It's a fantastic looking shoe. Even better is how they fit and feel. The leather is top quality. The craftsmanship is excellent. And the service at the store was top notch. I laced up my Strands with purple laces which just took the shoes over the top. I can say that these are the first pairs of shoes I've ever owned that I truly love. There's just something about the way they look and the way feel when I wear them. I'm getting married this year and decided to get another pair of Allen Edmonds (Park Avenue). The Strands were my gateway shoes into the world of excellent quality shoes. The Strands were my first, but not definitely not my last pair of Allen Edmonds.

This was the first pair of "nice" dress shoes I've purchased, and I couldn't be happier with them. You can see and feel the high quality materials and craftsmanship that went into this shoe. The walnut color is a versatile option that goes well with gray, blue, tan, and brown pants. The Strand itself is also very versatile and in my experience can work well with everything from a navy suit down to blue jeans. I most typically wear them with my business casual office clothes, and they really shine there. A nice pair of shoes like these can really make the difference between looking "blah" and looking sharp!

I own three pairs of the Strand Cap Toe Oxford. There is a great consistency in the sizes, from one pair to the next-they all fit the same. The color consistency from one shoe to the next is the same. The colors are very rich and alive. Everywhere I wear the Strand, people notice how great these shoes look, I get a lot of questions about who makes these shoes and where they can buy them. I wear them with suits and with Levis. They look good either way!

I purchased a pair of Strands in the now discontinued bourbon color, and they're one of my favorite pairs of shoes. The break-in was a little painful as I have a high instep on my right foot (pretty standard experience on all my 65 last shoes), but they fit great now. They look outstanding with any color suit other than charcoal or black, striking a nice balance between formal and interesting. I should note that they crease a bit on the toe cap (cap is somewhat longer than the one on the PA/FA), but they fit perfectly, so that's just a function of my foot's size and shape.

I have been an AE customer since graduating college over 30 years ago. I recently purchased a pair of Strands in Walnut. They are of course very comfortable but am delighted to have it be more versatile than I expected. It goes well with suits as you would expect but also have even worn them with khakis and jeans. The website helped me with deciding on the color before going in to the store.

I have 2 pairs of Strands in black and walnut. They are fantastic shoes, and I get compliments on them all the time, especially the walnut. My only complaint is that they take many wears before they are completely broken in.

I've been wearing a pair of walnut Strands for six months and can say these are great shoes. They are good looking, well made and comfortable. This last fits my narrow foot well. I wear the Strands with my business casual attire, and would certainly like them in some of the other available colors. It's hard to go wrong with the Strand.

Love the Strand for style as well as fit and comfort. I purchased my first Strand over fifteen years ago. It's seen its share of new soles and many miles. I retiredthe old ones for a new pair, and plan on wearing them out as well. Allen Edmonds always provides a product of excellent style, quality, durability and comfort. The product always matches the excellent service! The Strand is a classic worth adding to your collection of dress shoes.
