These shoes fit great right out of the box and sizes run true. I found it took very little time to break them in.

I rarely use the word "love" but I must admit I love the AE Strand. It looks even better in person. This is my 4th pair of AE and by far my favorite. Great design and fit feels true to size. I can't speak for its quality, but I have faith in AE's workmanship.

Just bought the Brown Cordovan Strands and I could not be happier with them. Unlike my past experiences with AE Cordovan, these were flawless. The fit and feel are impeccable. No break in period required.

After buying a pair of black Fifth Avenues, I had my eye on these walnut Strands to expand my collection. I love these shoes. As a person that would normally wear loafers or mocs with jeans, I have started wearing the strands with jeans and they look great. Not to mention, I wear them with suits 3-4 days out of the week and they look equally superb.

I own the Strand in dark brown shell. It is a versatile shoe that looks great with navy, brown, and even gray suits. I would wear it in any but the most formal of business or professional settings.

High quality, beautiful, and comfortable shoes as is usual with AE. I ended up returning them, though, only because I have a pair of AE chelsea boots that work better with my needs.

The first pair I ordered seemed to be slightly off such that the collar on one shoe rubbed my ankle. I contacted customer service, who were absolutely superb, and sent me another pair. Upon receipt of the second pair, I noticed the color was slightly off (one shoe had a little too much black but it was certainly acceptable) ... the overall appearance (mahogany) was very nice though. This is my fifth pair of Allen Edmonds shoes but haven't purchased any for a number of years. I would still consider them a good quality shoe. Would recommend.

I made my purchase after watching several reviews, and a video of a resole . The high quality construction is what sold me. I have wide feet so it's a little harder to get good shoes. I ordered size ee , but they are a little snug . I think they should brake in properly. That's the only reason I haven't ordered a second color. I may need to go to eee. Time will tell if I need to go wider with my second pair . I plan to order more . The online ordering went well for me .

Husband has high arch wide large feet. We bought 5 different brands similar style. He couldn't put his feet in. The opening is not wide enough for his thick feet. Price is $200 higher than other same good quality dress shoes. We ended up keeping the Johnston & Murphy Daley Wing Tip, which is perfect if you have wide feet, thick high arch.

This is your Dad's solid, dependable, no nonsense shoe. The styling is pedestrian and utterly unremarkable. Yet, it's well made, comfortable and always appropriate. Sometimes boring is good. That's the case with this shoe.

I purchased (in store) the AE Strands in Walnut 6 months ago and have worn them during 50 or so 11 hour work days by now - so I'm ready to review! Out of the box: A beautiful, beautiful shoe. The color is lovely! It's even throughout the shoe without splotchy marble imperfections and it's true to online photos. The lighter color showcases the broguing and stiching, which are even and very well done. In fact, I hunted for imperfections diligently while I examined these pre-purchase in the store and found none. On the foot: The 65 last that these are crafted upon creates a narrow shoe in my case. I usually wear a 10M, but ended up in a 9.5EEE in these brogues in order to wear them and feel my toes contemporaneously. I will say they are not comfortable out of the box. They are still, the soles are hard and they needed about 20 all-day wears before they broke in enough to be comfortable. Now, after about 50 wears, they are comfortable, but my multiple Johnston and Murphy's are more comfortable right out of the box than these Strands are now. The difference is that AE's shoes are lighter, more durable, recraftable and will last a lot longer. Quality & Price: I snagged thes on sale for about $295 and I feel pretty good about them at that price. The quality is obvious and makes them stand out from the Cole Haans and the like. I think they are worth the roughly $150 more than the average $150 dress shoe - but not much more than that. I wouldn't pay $400 for these - but I'm happily sold at $295! Customer Service: Just top notch! The store clerks were fantastic. They know all there is to know about the AE shoes, lasts, sizing, etc. and the buying experience was great.

So the walnut version of this shoe is a piece of art, but there are some strange sizing issues. I wear a regular, medium width 13 in other AE model shoes, but this one has a cramped toe box. They pinch me right at the cap toe band. I'll probably have to resell these unfortunately, as much as I love the look.

I have had generally good luck with other dress shoes made on the 65 last, this was no exception. I was able to keep them on all day without any problem. The only gripe I have is the they run slightlt tight in the instep. I am hoping they will loosen up a bit with wear. The quality is very good.

Great shoes but need to offer large sizes in wide width. The mediums are too narrow for most big men.

Very solid shoe, but for the money, a leather stacked heel (like Alden) would really be nice. You could even upcharge for this added bit of fine shoe detail. A big chunk of rubber for the heel detracts somewhat from the overall design. Did not find the shoe to be too narrow at all, as some reviewers have said. Like all balmoral designs, can be a painful shoe if you have a high instep. Great color to match with jeans and a sportcoat!

I was amazed by all the online reviews and friend's recommendations about Allen Edmond shoes. Based on the immense amount of encouragement, I held my breath and ordered the first pair. I was a bit disappointed when I received the pair. Both pairs had slight defect on them. And I was told by the customer service that it is expected to have some defects as it goes through 212 steps of Craftsmanship (blah blah blah). Al though I love my shoe and returning wasn't an option. I was going to use it for the conference I was headed to that weekend. I wish I had an extra week to return/exchange. However, I like the pair. They are very nice and can tell the difference the quality makes. However, I am a bit disappointed by the defects in has. It will always bug in the back of my mind.

I need to tend to the shoe a bit more, as it squeaks a bit when I walk, but other than that I love it.

Bring back Merlot and bourbon please. I have owned more than 20 Allen Edmonds shoes and have been satisfied with all of them. I would really like to buy Park Avenue or fifth Avenue but would love it if you would bring back bourbon or Merlot. I see that you're experimenting with many vibrant colors like red and green and blue but for those of us who like the standard good looking shoe would really like you to bring back some of the old colors.

Looks much more rich in Red online than it does in person, however, in the right lighting perfect.

Perfect fit, extremely comfortable. No break-in needed; ready to go out of the box. My only knock is the color: I purchased the blue and the online picture showed beautiful variation in the depth of the blue color across the leather, but the actual shoe color is a monochromatic blue with really no color variability. Still a nice color, but not as advertised in the picture.

Overall these are very nice shoes. Great color, very good craftsmanship and very comfortable. The only issue I have with them is that the soles are very slick (caution don't walk on carpet with them) and the heels pick up every rock, small or large, I walk on. I have to use my hand to wipe them off as I walk across a paved parking lot or all I hear and feel is the crunching of the rocks. I looked at the heels two days after not having worn them and they have the indents from the rocks that I had walked on still in them. I have a pair of Oxfords with the Dainite rubber soles and heels and I cherish them. The soles and heels on these shoes have much to be desired.

I love the style of the cap toe Strand. However, the pair of shoes I received were either mislabeled for size or made wrong. I wear a EE shoe. This time, I purchased the cap toe Strand and the Fifth Avenue, both the same size. The Fifth Avenue fit as it's suppose to, but the cap toe Strand was too tight to fit my foot into. It felt like the cap toe was pulled down too snuggly. I will return the Strand for another shoe and see if it was just a mis-sized purchase.
