At age 68, I just bought my first pair of Allen Edmonds shoes. I selected the Strand, color oxblood. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and my only regret is I waited this long to experience such superlative footwear. The shoes are elegant and will undoubtedly outlive me! I'm semi-retired and plan to enjoy these shoes even after I stop working. You younger guys out there, don't make the same mistake. Life is too short to limit yourself to middling quality shoes. In fact, I'm going to take the plunge and buy another pair -- soon, probably the Rogue. One last thing: it's really great to buy an outstanding product that's made in the United States of America.

Allen Edmonds always have been and always will be the only dress shoes I wear, I have 6 pairs and am next looking to add the Franciscan Monk Straps in Walnut. I have these Strands in black, they're beautiful, they're comfortable, however they're the only pair I've ever purchased (got them on the website) that didn't come with shoe bags, which doesn't seem like a big deal, but they're nice to have when you travel like I do to avoid scuffs and such. Either way, I highly recommend these.

Most of my experience has been in wearing various lower quality dress shoes, tennis shoes, military boots, and Timberland boots; so when I decided to branch out and get some "real" dress shoes, this brand came up often (both in conversation, and web searches). I've since bought two pairs of AE shoes (Strands in bourbon/Park Aves in black), and I state without a hint of reservation that these are the best shoes I've ever owned. I purchased the Strands to wear to my upcoming wedding, and over the course of the breaking in period, I understand the devout following that AE shoes have garnered. The retailer I purchased them from were out of my true size (actually wear a 10E; bought in 10.5 D), but even despite that fact, I'm impressed by the comfort I have while wearing them. This may have nothing to do with it, but I actually feel that my posture is better, and my feet/back/knees aren't killing me at the end of the day. Considering my lack of dress/casual shoe repertoire, I think it's safe to say that I'll be wearing less tennis shoes/sneakers and more dress/casual shoes as a result of this experience.

A very good looking pair of shoes , but the finish was incomplete , and I must send one of them back to be redone

I just purchased these and loved them as soon as I put them on in the store. First pair of AE's but if they are as good in the long run as they are out of the box, I'm in it for life. I will try and update as I wear and break in.

Very stylish great fitting shoe. First time I wore the shoe it felt as if it was molded to my feet--could not have asked for a better fit and it has the traditional style of an Allen Edmonds shoe--expensive, yes but you truly get what you pay for with this shoe

Always happy with Allen Edmonds. I keep at least 10 pairs in my rotation. I've been wearing AE for over 20 years. The refurbishing is perfect for keeping classics new. I order custom sizes and it's worth it. Great products that are AMERICAN MADE

The finish on this shoe is beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. It has a deep Cabernet color with black burnishing and an understated shine that together it just screams quality.

This is my 2nd pair of shoes from Allen Edmonds. Both are amazing. Bought this shoe in walnut and it matches with anything. I wear this for business and casual. Customer service is amazing. The gentleman that helped me also helped me with my first shoe. And I got these pair in a few days from ordering.

I am a huge Allen Edmonds fan, and this pair was my 24th pair. I have 3 pair of strands in different colors, and only recently began buying my AE shoes in cordovan leather. The cordovan leather makes breaking in the shoe a thing of the past, as it is very flexible, forgiving, and comfortable. Another job well done. I already have my eye on another pair of penny loafers in cordovan leather.

I own about ten pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes, but this is now my favorite. It fit like a glove right out of the box (size 10D). No breaking in needed. The oxblood color is very rich and deep with some variations on the borders that tone it down. It really "pops". Can be worn with business or casual attire.

I bought a pair of Strands in brown suede and they are truly gorgeous. My pair have Dainite soles and are unbelievably comfortable. The style of the upper is such that they can be dressed up or down though mine are always worn with chinos.
Yesterday I spend most of the day walking around the French Quarter and these never gave me even a twinge of discomfort. No soreness later that night either.
I highly recommend these.

This is a very comfortable, instant classic! I highly recommend it. Now that I have somewhere around ten pair of AE's, I had to complement my Walnut Strands with a pair of black ones.
This shoe wears well as a dress shoe, but as a casual shoe as well.
The Walnut Stands with the colored laces are a great way to mix up my wardrobe and generate lots of complements!

I wanted to give cordovan a try and this shoe was it. I was a little apprehensive because it was on the 5 last, and my only other experience with it is the Kenilworth that I honestly think AE should recall, as it doesn't hold up. This shoe re-enforces my opinion of that. It's easily my favorite shoe, and cordovan is just an amazing timeless leather. Grab a jar of cordovan care cream and enjoy a set of shoes made to standards long forgotten by the main stream.

The Strand is like wearing a Gretsch 6120 for your feet. Stylish and perfectly proportioned. It is also a tremendously comfortable shoe for all day walking. Once you get it fitted correctly...
I wear an 8.5D in the Strawfut which is also on the 65 (5) last. The Strand in this same size is too long and you wind up sliding in the shoe. Coming down to an 8D makes the top of the vamp rub against your big toe and it is altogether too tight around the top front of your foot. So what I did was get an 8EE. Heaven! Bingo! plenty of room across the front of the foot and the length is spot on as well. I climb 266 steps everyday to my office and then spend the rest of the day walking my 10,000 steps all over campus in these Strands and they are so comfortable. Men admire them as much or more than women and they see these shoes and want to believe in something other than running shoes and cheap oxfords. They long for style, quality and an American made shoe with a great heritage. And they also want to look great. The Strand is a cornerstone of your shoe wardrobe. Once you get it to fit correctly there is simply no turning back.

(I've had my eye on this timeless classic for over 40 years as a teenager yearning to wear fine styles like the "Big Boys". Now with my kids out of college, I decided to invest in ME! ) I bought my Strands over a YEAR ago and because of the care I give them, they still look like they're right out of the box. I've worn them over 10 hours straight, including walking 5 miles, no problem. They are my kick butt weapon when I want to close a sale or nail an interview. I chose Walnut Calf for its truly versatile nature, year round trooper appeal. We guys who wear them can spot them from 20 feet away -- now THAT's a fashion statement.
