Best pair of AEs I own. The walnut is an amazing color. The fit is much more comfortable than my other AEs of the same size. You can see the craftsmanship of these 6 feet away.

The best shoe I ever wore and they will last forever, seriously comfortable and probably the most stylish article in my wardrobe...big boy shoes here, love 'em. Soft and comfy after one day of wearing. I think I will stay with Allen Edmonds. Definitely runs a but large, at least a half size.

The fit is terrific. The leather is stiff, but still molds to your foot. The shoe is wonderfully built and absolutely gorgeous. In essence, this is a benchmark shoe - all others should be judged by how closely they imitate this level of style, class, fit, and finish. Although expensive, this shoe will last 10 or more years if taken care of, so think of it as an investment.

Wonderful shoes! I love Allen-Edmonds and these are no exception. Great craftsmanship and quality, and very good out of the box comfort that will only get better with time. I usually take a 10D but I needed a 9.5E. Thank you Zappos for lightning quick shipping and easy returns!

Allen Edmonds. Enough said. These are about the best shoe ever made. Even the CEO Of Allen Edmonds says these are his favorites of the brand. These are almost indescribable, the quality if the leather, attention to detail and the fit and finish are second to none! Be careful! Once you wear Allen Edmonds, nothing else will do! They do run a bit narrow. Order a half size down and at least one width up. Zappos? = Amazing! Our family slogan is: when in doubt, check Zappos out!

The Strand is great all around. Nice proportions, lovely detail with the broguing, pinking, and medallion, and the walnut color really shows it off well. Not cheap, but well made, and with Zappos and Allen Edmonds both standing behind you, it's an investment in quality footwear. I had to size down a full size and up two widths to accommodate my wider foot and higher instep. Break them in by wearing indoors to allow the sole to gain some flexibility and the footbed to conform to your foot. If the fit is right they are amazingly comfortable.

I have three pairs of Allen Edmonds and this is by far my favorite pair. Fun, classy, well made and distinctive. Quick anecdote: I've been dressing well since high school, suits, dozens of brands, many different looks, etc. I've always had trouble finding the right dress shoes (width). But with the Strand, for the first time in my entire life a complete stranger, a joe lunchpail kind of guy on the subway, just said out of the blue, "Those are really nice shoes." I dress well, but inside I'm a joe lunchpail type, so the comment made more of an impression on me than if an obviously fashion conscious had said it. I can't stress this next point enough: The first time you buy this brand, find your size in-store FIRST. I almost ditched this brand because I thought they didn't have a size/width that was comfortable. I was so disappointed and almost returned to a cheaper, far less well made brand. Turns out that I just bought the wrong width. Once I figured out my correct widge (3E), oh my god, I could 'live' in this shoes 24/7. Oh, and I must mention that the in-store staff at Allen Edmonds is top notch. Super friendly, helpful, not snotty/ignoring customers, like so many other quality branded shops. This good impression was my experience at two different Allen Edmonds locations in Manhattan, so I'm led to believe hiring good people is important to them. Finally, the fact that these are made in the U.S. are a huge deal to me. I've lived abroad and love international culture, but it makes me proud that this company makes a point of manufacturing in the U.S. and thus inspires even more brand loyalty from me (we need the jobs here). Seriously, if you're like me and have never spent this amount of money on shoes before, get over the sticker shot and give them a try. There's a reason I have 3 pairs of shoes from this brand. I hope/plan to buy more in the future.

This is still my favorite looking all around shoe, but sadly, I couldn't get any size that fit me. I tried a 9 1/2, I tried a 10, I tried a Wide, and they all fit my particular foot poorly. Probably just my foot, but I've never had that issue before. I went with a To Boot NY, and it fit perfectly. If you struggle with the fit, it's not you. Still bummed, as I loved the color, texture, quality, and look, but had to go two stars for comfort, considering I couldn't get one to fit me.

Beautiful well made shoe. Bought this and a similar Cole Haan style for my boyfriend to try with a new grey suit. These were the favorite, really classy on and fit his big, wide size 14 feet well.

Great craftsmanship and style. Fits slightly more narrow than what I'm used to. Been wearing them every few days for a few weeks and they are slowly breaking in. I expect the leather sole to take time. Same price on AM's site. Get their full-toe shoe trees before you start wearing. Get extra laces right away, too. I have gotten many compliments and I expect to get more. These shoes are the truth.

Excellent choice. Quality construction, comfortable, & great style. Really like the walnut color - really sets the shoe off. Received compliments the very first time I wore them and every time since. Very satisfied.

This was my second pair of Allen-Edmonds. Before I purchased these Strands I bought a pair of McCallisters. The fit is pretty similar, but you definitely get more style in the Strands. Shoe trees and leather lotion.

These are wonderful shoes. They came highly recommended from a few friends at work. Right from the time you open the box you can tell the shoes are premium. Perfectly stictched - premium cut leather, etc. When you first put them on they are stiff and a bit deceiving as to size. I ordered an 11D (regular) width originally. And it was obvious to me that they fit slightly longer and narrower than I am used to. So I returned them and got a 10½E (wider) and, those fit perfect. So when I refer to size I am speaking to the pair that actually fit. They break in fairly quickly (as far as any stiffness). The first day I wore them to work it really only took a few hours and they were softening up. Nothing bad to say about them. Yes, they are pricey but, they are one of the few pairs of shoes I took from the box and was instantly impressed by the craftsmanship.

Amazing shoe. Comfort and style, both blended perfectly! Love the color and the quality is amazing too. Worth the money and received a lot of good comments from my mates. Totally recommend it!
