I purchased the strand cap top shoe on oxblood. They are the best shoes I ever owned. They are is comfortable, stylish, and the leather quality is excellent.
I Definitely recommend anyone getting shoes like this one.

The shoe is high quality and comfortable, but the front gets scuffed easily. Therefore, you need to buy the shoe and heel edge dressing to retouch it.

I love this shoe since the sales person professionally fit the right size for me. I have gone to many shoe stores. They do not even bother to measure my feet. I get many compliments for wearing this shoe. Wear it proud and take care of the shoe! And, you will get the compliments that you deserve!

This is a great pair of go-to dress shoes for business, travel, and semi-formal events. They are easily maintained with regular care, and continue to look great after a few years of use. They do take some time to break in, and the broguing used to create the cap toe can cause heavy creasing down to the toes which can get uncomfortable after long hours of wear.

Great unique statement shoe in the walnut color. Make sure to try all sizes and widths to get the best fit and you will love the shoe. James and Kristin at the Paramus outlet are great and so is Jon at the midtown Manhattan store they truly are master fitters!!!

Finally able to see the pair of Midnight Blue Strands ordered back in May. As usual they're a beautiful pair of shoes, and an unbelievable fit. Unfortunately, there are two small stains/blemishes on one shoe on the leather. They're really not noticeable, but it's the last thing I expect on a quality pair of shoes. Not to mention there's little to be done since they were a limited run.

Friend of mine bought these shoes last year and every time I saw them, I loved them. They could be worn dressed up for work or dressed casual for a night out. Bought a pair myself but felt like they looked so different. Compared them to my friend's and saw that the stain is much more rich in my newer pair. I didn't like it. They look much too formal now and less trendy/casual. Decided to return them. Still
A great company, great quality shoe though. Wish AE woulda have made the previous color still available or at least let customers know about the change.

I've had my eye on these shoes for a while. I love the walnut color, and the Strands are a great looking shoe that can be paired with jeans, khakis, or even a suit.
I stopped in a store to try on a few different sizes and went with something wider than I would normally wear. I am very happy I did, they feel great on my feet and are not pinching on the sides like some of my other shoes do. The store I stopped at had a new tablet/electronic laser based measurement tool, but the salesperson I was working with couldn't get it to work as it was the first time she had used it. Old way worked just as well.
The only issue I have is that there is some discoloration in the leather. Some slight discoloration would be normal, but there are areas with darker streaking, and another area with a darker splotch, almost as if some dye / cream / polish was over applied in those areas.

These shoes are designed to last a full career with regular use and care. I prefer heavier, wider-soled shoes with thick leather because they feel more stable under foot. The leather in these could honestly afford to be just a slight bit thicker (not interested in the price of cordovan). Be sure to try on 3-4 shoes with different lasts as this will play a large part in how comfortable you will be after wearing these for a few weeks. These get compliments and can be worn with just about anything.

After over a month of wearing my Walnut Strands to work, I have received numerous compliments on the shoe. It's versatile both in the office as well as after hours. One drawback I have noticed is that the edges of the soles are wearing much quicker than I would expect of an AE shoe. I would highly recommend this shoe to others.

I've had this shoe for a couple years and they still look great and feel even better. They were a little snug in the toe when I first got them but over time they have relaxed to a perfect feel. It's got the conservative cap toe design with the tooling of a wingtip that sets it apart just the right amount for me.

I really like the look of these shoes as they compliment a business suit very well. I tend to not wear these as often as my other AE shoes as they are not as comfortable as my other shoes especially on the extra long days where I am constantly on the go. I do get complimented on the look of these shoes and they are easy to maintain.

The details of this shoe are remarkable. Great shoe and quality. I bought the Strand for its diversity and the ability to use it in both dress and business casual situations. It's spot on. I ordered a 9D, and the 5 last is a little more narrow than any of my other shoes causing a slight v taper when they are laced. Doesn't bother me though and they still look fantastic. My fault for not being sized in store.

I now have a collection of three Allen Edmond shoes. I am fairly recent buyer to the AE family. The Strand is by far the most comfortable shoe in my collection (Sanibel, Randolph, both slip-ons). This is a great shoe for dress up and to be worn to dress up a pair of jeans and nice polo/ exec. shirt. You can wear to work and out on the town out. I have put miles and miles on this shoe and my feet never hurt after a long day. This shoe, I forget I am wearing a dress shoe they are so comfortable. I am a frequent traveler, however and I keep a few pairs of slip on AE to quickly make my way through airport security.

I purchased these shoes for my wedding/continued use for business. Overall they fit great and the detail is wonderful. The leather was quick to form to my foot and did not take long to break them in. I have worn them all day and can say they were still as comfortable as ever.

These are the first official "grown up" shoes that I have purchased since starting a new career in Health Care. I have a tendency to enjoy attention grabbing clothing when I am in a casual setting, so moving to a new position where I had to dress in a professional manner was a shift for me. The Walnut Calf Strands have provided me with the professionalism that I needed for my job, while at the same time allowing me to express my love for fashion. These shoes attract attention from both serious shoe wearers and your average Joe, while maintaining a certain level of WOW that wont cause a disturbance in the office.

Very comfortable fit, great styling, high quality, but there is an odd bulge on both sides when walking, near the ankles. the leather bulges out and then returns to near the ankle with each step

As the owner of Park Avenues and 5th Avenues I expected my Strands to fit similarly, but for whatever reason the left shoe is tighter than the right. Great shoes but just wish they fit like my other AE's

The quality, style, and craftsmanship of this shoe is exactly what I have come to expect from Allen Edmonds--Superb. Unfortunately, I have small feet and wear size 6 shoes. The Strand Cap-Toe Oxfords' ankle cut-out is about 1/8"-3/16" taller than the McAllister and noticeably bumps and bothers my ankles. Hoping I break them in over time, because I love the look. And how many high-quality, beautifully-crafted men's shoes can you find in a size 6 EE?

I've been trying endlessly to become an AE customer based on the bevy of positive online reviews and recommendations. However, their sizing makes it very difficult and time consuming to find a shoe that fits. Construction and quality are unmatched, but having that sort of quality and price tag at the expense of the inconvenience of multiple orders and returns is tough. I have a very wide foot (3E) and I find my size with ECCO very easily. However, I've been trying to "step up" to AE for the past few years but I'm unable to find a shoe that fits and is somewhat comfortable. I find I have to deal with weeks of blisters and pain for them to "break in". Is that normal? Will shoes ever be able to be custom made for the feet of the customer thus versus us having to conform to the shoe?
