I returned the Taylor Frye for these. Although I love both, these being shorter really adapt more to my lifestyle and are wearable more often. The fit is perfect...just a little recommended heel slip. I wear a size 7 and I ordered a size 7. Red is my color!

Awesome boots! With the more rounded toe box, I was able to order these in my regular size 7. My left has a slight bunion and I have a slightly higher arch. The saddle color is a very nice "whiskey/cognac" color with white distressing. Great with jeans, skirts, etc. Very comfortable, classic styling without being too cowboy. The heel is a comfortable height. With boots, there should be some slippage in the heel for proper fit. Again, awesome boots!

These do run large, as a number of reviewers have mentioned. I normally wear a size 11, but in this case the 11 was too large and the 10 was too small (and Frye doesn't make a 10 1/2). Very cute boots; it's unfortunate that they didn't fit. It's worth noting as well that the Slate Burnished Leather is much more of a dark brown than it appears in the photo. The photo gives it a hint of grey/taupe but it is a very dark brown - no hints of grey whatsoever.

Great shoes! Love everything about them, they are very comfortable.

I love this boot. I just bought it in Lavender! The fit is true to size. I'm a 9, and a nine fits perfectly. I can easily wear socks with it. The style is not too cowboy and adds a fun edge to an outfit. The rounded toe is kinder to feet than my Billy Short; those required a little breaking in, but the Carson Shortie is good to go right out of the box. I like to wear them with my boot cut jeans, but my slim jeans can easily be tucked in. It's super cute! Buy it!

Definitely order a half size smaller. I tried my normal size with an insert, but it was still too sloppy feeling around the ankle, so I am returning it. This grey is really more of a taupe with a hint of grey. Carsons are great. I already have two pairs. Nice soft leather. I like the full length look better than shortie, but that's just me (so 4 stars there).

I love these boots! I read the reviews that suggested getting half a size smaller in size. That worked for me. Zappos is awesome. I got my order super quick!

I ordered these boots last night and they were waiting for me when I arrived home from work today. Zappos is the poster child for customer service.

I'm in love with this boot! It's the perfect mix of feminine chic and classic Western style. The tan color is beautiful and simple. Like other reviewers said, I recommend ordering a half size down. I thought the toe box was too long in the 8.5 and the 8 fit perfectly. The smaller size also was a better fit for my narrow foot. Every Texas girl should have this boot.

Order 1/2 size down! I have other Frye boots that are 8.5s and I ordered these in an 8 after reading reviews. I have a narrow foot and I feel that these boots runa little narrower than other Fryes. The cognac color is a little lighter than pictured as well. However, all in all I'm happy. The shaft rides about 2.5 inches higher than the ankle.

Zappos rocks, I found these in the light yellow on sale last night after 10:00p.m., and had them on my doorstep about noon the next day. Perfect, the color is more buckskin very light yellow, the fit is just like the tall Carson - slightly roomy. I tried to size down but was too short for my long toes. Lovely, well made, quality, stylish boots. I will love them much.

I love the boots! Was really nervous about spending this much, but needed footwear that didn't hurt my feet and they fit perfectly. I'm size 9 and got size 9, with no problems: I also have a wide foot and there's no pinching anywhere. These just slipped right on. Highly recommended!

I love these boots! Unlike my Frye Harness boots, these didn't require any break-in time; they were comfortable on the first wear. I got the Fawn color and I love how it's neutral, but still pops. I wore them with jeans in the winter and am wearing them with dresses and skirts now. Only one problem- I wiped out on the stairs at a basketball game; be careful when getting used to the leather sole. I recommend ordering a 1/2 size smaller than you usually wear.

I never knew how much I was dying for a pair of purple cowgirl boots until I saw this pair! I am so glad I took the Zappos/Frye boot leap. The purple color (eggplant) is really understated (for purple that is) and goes well with jeans and most any other color. The leather is so soft and the boots are quite light. I ordered my usual size 8.5 and they were tight so I ordered a nine and they were too loose. I tried on the 8.5's, I hadn't returned yet again and ended up keeping them. They stretched out just fine and I love, love, love them.

These are awesome boots! I alternated them with my sneakers walking around Italy for six weeks and they were great. They are comfortable for many hours of the day walking around, but by evening my feet would get a bit sore from lack of arch support. But they feel better with each wear and are by far the most comfortable boots I have had! Definitely worth the price. And I love the lift from the small heel and the sound the leather soles make on the pavement!

I am really happy the other boots I ordered did not work out and I found these instead, they are beautiful. The dark chocolate brown is very rich looking that I don't mind wearing them with my black jeans. The quality is excellent so I know I will have these for years to come. They fit like a glove but I will need to add an arch support insert like I do on most all of my shoes. Zappos makes shopping so easy and a great experience as usual.

Love these boots. Although I don't wear wide sized shoes, I feel my feet are wider than normal with a high instep. I wear 9 in athletic shoes and hiking boots to accommodate these features. Based on reviews I ordered the Frye Carson Shortie in a 9. Even with a mid weight sock (not thick) I struggled to get my foot into the boot due to my high instep, and when I finally got them on they were comfortable but roomy...too roomy. My heels slipped, and in spite of my wide feet, the toe box was ample. I felt that my feet would be swimming in them if the boots stretched out even a little, so I returned them. I looked for weeks afterwards but kept coming back to the Carson Shortie. I was apprehensive about ordering an 8 since I had so much trouble getting into the 9, but I took the chance. So glad I did! When the boots came my feet slipped into them like a glove. My heels don't slip and there is plenty of room in the toe box. I've been wearing them 4 - 5 times a week for a month now and they get even better as they form to my feet. I ordered them in the color Fawn - which is like a light brown with a hint of gray and darker brown on the toes and heels - very much like the close up depicts. They look great with jeans, with my off white cords, my brown cords, khakis...the list goes on. Zappos made the process so easy with the free shipping both ways, and the lightning fast delivery. Making my mind up was the longest and hardest part of the process. After that was done these beauties were on my feet in 3 days. If you've been looking and keep coming back to look again, I can tell you, they are quality boots worth every penny!

I loved these boots! So comfortable and versatile. Didn't look too western. I have another pair of Frye's and love them also but they are a little heavy- these were perfect. They run one size large, so these will have to be sent back. I gave 4 stars for overall/style, just because of my own preference. I'd love this style to come a bit higher. i'll look around. I love the Frye brand.

I absolutely love the quality of the leather of these boots. They even look better than on the website. However,I should have ordered a size smaller and should have paid attention to the shaft circumference. The boots are just too wide for me. I am so sad to return these boots. It is still my dream to own Frye boots and maybe someday I can get narrow ones.

These are my dream boots! I got the distressed black color and they are my new go-to item. They were comfortable from the first wear. I am in-between sizes and sized down and it was perfect. I know I will have these boots for years to come. Very worth the investment!

I love this boot! I usually buy a half size larger so I can wear thicker socks, but this boot is perfect in my normal size 9.5 (tried the 10 and slipped off my heel when I walked). I also really like the treatment of the leather too.

I usually wear an 8 and had to send this boot back for a 7 so I think it runs a size bigger than average. I have a narrowish heel and it fit perfectly. The toe box has plenty of room. The ankle leather is soft and comfortable. The leather soles on these Frye boots make them great country dance shoes. Spin, spin, spin. I really like these boots.

I'm wearing these now! I love the color and the fit. They have a little urban Western flair, but don't really look like cowboy boots either. I would definitely recommend going a 1/2 size down since, as with most Frye boots, these do tend to slip when you walk. However, the fit is rather narrow so if you have a wider foot, these may not be the boots for you.
