These boots are the bomb. As soon as I pulled them from the box, I was in love. Then I put them on my feet and knew I had made the right decision! They are super soft leather and have a bit of cushioning to the sole, a rarity in cowboy boots. No break in time was even necessary. The color is fabulous, and seems to change depending on the lighting; sometimes they are deep violet blue, and other times they are definitely purple. Good thing I am into both! I will probably buy some Frye leather soap or polish at some point to protect the gorgeous blue leather as it is so soft it could get scuffed pretty easily. They are still worth it.

Don't give up if they don't go on the first few tries. They are cowboy boots. Use the plastic bag on your heel and step in and pull up on both sides. I was a little nervous with high instep but read the reviews and copied another buyer. Bingo -- success. Comfortable.

Carson Shortie in color "Curry"- buttery soft leather, no break-in required. E-Z on/off. Just-right heel. Obviously shorter leg height-style. Just right for wearing either under jeans, or tucking jeans/leggings into, or with skirts/shorts/whatever. This color is a gorgeous, vivid year-round neutral. I was worried it would be too vivid, but seeing the actual boot in-hand, it's a perfect bright Camel color. And of course, nobody does footwear like Frye!

I got these in Saddle and they are beyond wonderful. They look vintage straight out of the box. I'm a size 8 and had to go down to a size 7 in these, & there's still room in the toe area. These are super comfy and I will have them forever. One of my favorite boots so far. Frye never disappoints!

I’m either a 7.5 or 8, depending on the shoe. All the other reviews said to definitely go a half size smaller. When I placed my order there was only an 8, so I figured I’d try it (I wanted the boots so badly)! Well, they were too big. When I called to return them a representative told me that someone was returning a 7.5 and as soon as they got them back they would email me. Ten days later I got the email, ordered the 7.5, returned the 8, and the free shipping both ways makes it so nice. Such a pleasure doing business with you, Zappos! Love the boots!

Great Boots! I bought the orange ones and I’m getting lots of compliments. Good color. Nice leather. I have worn them to a dance party (no slipping or skidding problems with the nails in the heels that others have mentioned). Good thing I noticed other reviews about sizing down. I usually wear a 10, 11 in running shoes, and was going to get the 9 ½, but it was sold out so I bought the 9. It’s a perfect fit with my inserts. Lots of room in the toes, but not sloppy, easy to walk and dance in. I like the short height, goes with jeans and dresses. Pricey, but well worth it.

A bit expensive but very cool. I love these boots. They run a bit large so had to exchange for 1/2 size smaller than usual, and still plenty roomy for thick socks. I receive lots of compliments. As comfortable as any pair of cowboy boots (since my feet are happiest in thick wedges, I can't give these a high comfort rating).

These boots are great. So comfortable and I love the color. They go effortlessly with blacks and browns. I was surprised on how big they run. I usually am a size 7 or even 7.5 but in these beautiies I took a 6.5. The leather is a bit distressed and one of the markings was right on the top of the foot which I didn\'t like so I had to return it again for an unmarked pair. Also, my heel slips minimally which I was initially concerned about.

Ordered two colors of this boot and absolutely love them! As other reviewers have stated, they feel like 'butter'! Super comfy in the soles and everywhere else the leather touches my feet! Love! They also do tend to run a little big and since I am a 5.5 I am unable to go down a size, but find that in boots I can usually get away with a 1/2 size larger. If you are considering this product, get them. You will not regret it!

I am a size 7 1/2 and took the advice of another customer on these boots and sized down. I\'m glad I did, as they are still a little long, but with a thickish sock they fit perfectly and comfortably. Frye does cut these narrow, so if your foot is wide I would recommend staying true to your size. Overall, I love them and they look every bit as good on as they do on the internet.

I originally bought a size 7 (my usual shoe size) but it was quite large. The size 6.5 is perfect. I wanted a pair of booties that were comfortable, stylish, and durable, and these boots are perfect. I wear them with skinny jeans and leggings, out shopping in Soho, grocery shopping, and even to the park with my little boy...

Just got these boots today and really love them! Really soft leather, great fit, super comfortable. Love the color, not quite grey, almost like a taupe color. I usually wear 7 1/2 or 8, got these in 7 1/2 and they fit perfect. I highly recommend them.

I love these Frye Boots! The color is even more rich than pictured on-line. They are the most comfortable pair of boots I have ever owned. I received numerous compliments the first day that I wore them! The reviews and testimonials with regard to ordering a 1/2 size smaller than my size were "right on!" I would highly recommend the "Carson Shorty." They look great with jeans. This was money well spent! "Zappos" customer service and free shipping/returns cannot be beat!

I wanted a sturdy ankle boot to wear under my slim/straight leg jeans and these boots are perfect. I wanted a boot with a cowboy boot type heel, but without the pointy toe. These have a slight round shape toe, so they are a good blend between a cowboy boot and a biker boot. They seemed a bit pricey at first, but they are totally worth it; the leather is really great quality and the boots are very well made (like all Frye boots). They were super comfortable right out of the box; a touch roomy in my size, but I added a cushioned insole and now they are perfect! I wear them all the time. Love them!

Love these boots! The Frye Carson Shortie boots are beautiful. I only gave 4 stars because of their sizing. I usually wear an 8 1/2, but downsized to an 8 after reading other reviews. I still needed to add an insert to make them more snug and to stop my heels from slipping. Break in time was minimal. Very happy with my purchase.

I am very pleased with the fit of these boots despite the fact that they run a half size smaller than usual. Initially, I was not too happy with the worn in look and white washed effect, but within a very short time they have relaxed some, and the extra conditioner has blended in nicely with the saddle leather color. The heel height makes this a very practical everyday boot.

As always, Frye quality is something to sing about. The Carson Shortie is just as well-made and special as every other Frye boot I have worn. BUT my narrow, rather bony, feet do not fit in the Carson Shortie. While I am a 9 in most Fryes, the 9 is too loose (my heel slips dramatically), and the 8.5 is too tight over the top of my foot. If it fits your feet, the Carson Shortie is a keeper.
