This sandal was very comfortable, but you can't really tell from the photo that there is foam and a nylon-ish fabric between the two thong "arms". This made it look (IMHO) orthopedic...and that's not the look I was after. Had to return them.

Ordered size 7, too small and too narrow. Returned. Ordered size 8, length okay still too narrow,returning, so if you have any type of wide foot I would not order these. Usually a M width is fine for me. They are really cute and quality is great. Hated to return them. Great service as usual.

Love the sandals; however, they were a bit tight. Passed them on to my sister in law and ordered the next size up.

The quality of this sandal has gone downhill! I buy a pair every year, they are comfy to walk in and go with everything, but I immediately noticed they were flimsier- much less support, loose threads, less sturdy than before. After only a few weeks they look like I've worn them all summer! So disappointed, at this price I won't buy these next year.

I love the way these look and the arch support is great, and the footbed soft. I have flat feet width d/e 10.5, so the width was also great. Based on all the reviews, I was hoping this was the shoe for me. The problem is an 11 will be too long, the 10 works, but the leather thong strap is chaffing my toes and it's a tight or short thong which makes the chaffing worse. This shoe will be great for someone, just not the half sizers like me. I really love the style and the sole and foot bed has excellent support. If this sole was with the holly leaf style, it would be heaven. I love merrell, and own many of their other footwear products. luckily the awesome zapposs customer service will get me out of this misfortune smoothly.

I had a pair of similar sandals that were discontinued so I was super bummed I had to return them as they were very narrow and small. I am a 9.5 and ordered a 10 and they were too small. Sigh...also I think they must have changed where they manufacture them as they had that caustic smell that is on all the shoes made in China.

This is my fifth pair of Merrell Gardena Thongs and I am so disappointd as this pair is way too small. What has happened with your sizing? I will exchange them for a larger size.

Very nice looking sandals comfortable sandals, but I should have listened to other reviewers. If your feet are wide across the ball of your foot these sandals will not work. They are very narrow and my foot completely hung off the side of the sandal.

I do not have wide feet, but these sandals felt narrow. The leather at the top of the toe piece also pokes downward into my toes when I walk. I have other Merrell sandals that are much more stylish and comfortable than these. These are going back.

Well, like other reviewers, I am returning this shoe because the footbed is too narrow. I am disappointed because I like the shoe. It was comfortable and cute enough for it's purpose. The problem is the inside of my foot (big toe joint) hung over the side of the shoe. If Merrell made this is a wide width, it would be perfect. Hint hint Merrell...please make women's shoes in a W width.

The size is true, the sandal is well made, but the toe strap is sharp and uncomfortable.

I bought these shoes but had to send them back because there were not enough room for your toes where the thong is. They were really tight there, very cute style but will look for a different one.

A bit uncomfortable where the big toe sits. Very cute but not worth spending the money for something so uncomfortable.

I've been wearing these sandals for years and this year they are not the same. The fit is different (narrower and half size smaller) and the quality is not as good. Sorry Merrell, but these are going back. Very disappointing.

I love Merrell shoes most of the time but these felt too narrow. Hope it is not what I can expect in the future.

They have changed the shape of this sandal and the new style doesn\'t fit right - my big toe hangs over the side. My old ones with the smooth insole are fine - these are a weird shape - too pointed.

These sandals looked like the perfect shoe for wearing on a sight-seeing day; however, they were not. I had worn them on several occasions for a few hours at a time, so when I chose them to wear while visiting The Smithsonian museums, I thought they would be a non- issue. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, I had a very large blister on both feet where the thong comes across the top of the foot-a week later, I am still having to wear band aids. Very disappointing...I thought Merrell Shoes were better than this, and I will be returning them.

I love Merrell shoes, especially the sandals, but these did not work for me. They were too stiff and uncomfortable to wear. I have some Merrells like them from two years ago and they are wonderful, but the material that was used for the top portion is softer than ones I bought this year. Sorry, sent them back.

Ordered this in size 7, I vary between a 7 and an 8, depending on shoe. This was short on me, but more importantly it caused my foot to skew to the side (toward left on right foot, toward right on left foot). Not sure exactly why, but the toe thong seems to be too far to the inner side for my foot. I may try the next size up (size 8) as I really like the look of the shoe and the quality.

Don't buy these if you have feet that are shaped like, well, feet! These are basically narrow long ovals. I guess I have feet that are shaped like footprints - narrow at the back and wide at the base of the toes. The elastic band squeezed my mid foot enough to give me cramps and my forefoot was oozing out in front of the elastic like a muffin top. Really wanted these to work and I have worn Merrell for years in athletic shoes. Sadly will have to return them.

I purchased the 2012 Gardena thongs to replace the previous Gardena thongs that wore out after I literally beat the stuffing out of them with wearing in every conceivable condition (it wasn't easy and took a few years). I was thrilled to find that the style was still available until I received them and tried them on. While the footbed is cushier and the arch support improved, the front is narrower than my foot (a medium width). I was planning to buy them in different colors, but very sadly these will have to go back.

This is the first pair of Merrells that I didn't like! I like the look of the sandals but they are very uncomfortable. The thong is very stiff and it dug into my foot. It felt like a piece of cardboard between my toes. I will be sending these back!

Shoe bleeds when it gets wet or sweaty. I have had this pair 1 year, and I always have black on the top of my foot when I wear them. I do not like the leather ones.
