I wear a 9 in women, 7 in men, and the 39 was perfect for me. Bought a 40 at first, but returned for the size 39.

Love these! If your feet are not in need of wide shoes, definitely get the narrow. My feet are average width and I got narrow and still had to tighten them to the third notch. I have bad plantar fasciitis and these definitely support where I need them to.

Love Berks! Had my last pair resoled a few yrs ago and decided to buy a new pair this year. Seems that other brands such as Nike, UA, Sperry etc make you order a size up to get a proper fit. Berks still are true to size...fit like a glove.

ADDENDUM to my previous critical review about receiving worn shoes. I was contacted immediately by Zappos and the Customer Service was Outstanding! They were extremely apologetic and resolved this issue indicative with the high quality of service and products that they are known for. I will continue to be a loyal Zappos customer and suggest if anyone has an issue with a product that they contact the company directly. I had a very gracious experience.

Best Birkenstocks ever. So comfortable, would wear this 24/7 if it was allowed at my job!

Great shoes! Can’t go wrong with birks. I ordered narrow and I’m glad I did bc I have a narrow foot and birks tend to be too big.

I have other Birkenstock sandals and their sizing seems to be off on most of them. I wear a true size 6 in normal shoes and need to order the 35 Narrow in Birkenstock Arizona for a perfect fit. The leather is high quality and thick on these. I expect these will take a very long time to wear out so I feel the extra price to buy quality leather is worth it.

I FORGOT HOW INCREDIBLE THESE SHOES ARE. I WORE THEM YEARS AGO. I LIKE THAT THEY ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THEY WERE AND THEY FEEL GREAT AND ARE OF THE SAME HIGH QUALITY. SUPER COMFORTABLE AND THEY GO WITH EVERYTHING.

Pretty darn comfy out of the box - the leather straps are deep brown with gorgeous buckles. I'm coming from similar Mephisto sandals and can tell this will have a bit of a break-in process, which is to be expected for Birks. On unique thing about these is that they have a defined toe box, which I like but will need to break in a bit as the footbed molds to my feet. One thing I will say is that the initial pair I received had a dot of glue on the leather and one of the straps was scratched up - I got an exchange and the difference is night and day from what I originally received. If you're not thrilled with how your Birks look out of the box contact Zappos - they're the best :)

The fit is perfect . I wear a 7.5-8 so I ordered the 38 regular width because I do have a wider foot. LOVE the color!

Break in period was an adjustment, but I love these. Not attractive, but very functional. Last stage of me becoming a full blown hippie.

Perfect! Unless you have very wide feet, order the narrow width in this style. For me, I also found that the 40 worked better than the 39 (my size in other birks; I am a 8.5 - 9, regular width). LOVE these shoes, the leather texture/color, and Zappos. Win, win, win!

I love these sandals...I wear a 7.5 women’s medium width and got the 38 Narrow and they fit amazing. I ordered the tobacco color Oiled Leather and also stone color in Birkibuc. If you are on the fence about color/material I suggest paying the extra $25 to get the oiled leather. The Birkibuc looks a lot cheaper compared to the leather and the stone color was almost a green color. The tobacco color is really nice; these look like the Birkenstocks JoAnna Gaines wears (totally random but I love her casual but put-together look with her Birkenstocks in some of her recent Instagram pics). I can’t wait for it to warm up more in western NY so I can wear them outside!

I was unsure whether or not to purchase the regular width or the narrow fit. The Zappos Question/Answer section was very helpful in my decision. I am an 8.5 regular womens and I went with the 39 Narrow since these are unisex. The shoes fit perfectly. I am not a narrow kind of girl, but I am glad I went with the unisex narrow as the regular would have been too wide. I love Birkenstocks. They do take a bit to break in, but once they do they are so comfortable. Also in case you might be deciding between the Birko & the Leather, the leather doesn't stain or color the tops of your feet.

Got these for boyfriend. He is usually size 13 and has fairly wide feet and toes (think good yoga toes). Ordered the 46 at first (which is what a size conversion chart would tell you) and they were way too long. With his toes placed comfortably on the toe ridge there was still maybe 3/4" of space behind his heel. Exchanged for the 45 and they fit him perfectly. The oiled leather is the kind of leather into which you could easily make a big scratch mark. However I have seen older pairs of this material and they age really nicely despite that fact.

The Arizona is just as cool now as it was when I was in middle school, and I’m pushing 40. They’re rad, they feel great, and they look like something Jesus would’ve worn. They’re not ideal for running from the police, but great for kick’n it with your homies.

I wear a size 6.5 wide to 7.5 in women's shoes depending on the style and brand of shoe. I have VERY wide feet with VERY high arches. I have always had to purchase sizes larger than my actual foot length to accommodate my width. I originally tried on a 37 Regular in this style, going by my sizing in other shoes, and found that the width was perfect but the length a little long. I have exchanged them for a 36 Regular and they fit perfectly, according to the Birkenstock guide on how these shoes should fit. My high arches are supported by these shoes out of the box. They are so supportive and comfortable. If you have very wide feet, you may need to go down a couple sizes from what you typically buy and get the "Regular" width.

This is my first pair of Birkenstocks, and it has taken me a few tries to get it right. I typically wear a size 6.5/7 in women's shoes and ordered down since I had read that Birks run slightly big. While a smaller size certainly felt comfortable out of the box and fit my feet well, when I put my foot against the sizing chart Birkenstock provides on the inside of their shoe box, I actually saw that I needed to size up. When I did, it felt like the shoes were too big on my feet; however, after the break-in period (for reference, it took 18 days for my feet to love these shoes!), I noticed that the extra room was what allowed my feet the movement they needed to feel comfortable for hours at a time. I had also ordered the soft footbed thinking that it might provide a more comfortable introduction to the brand, but because I have incredibly high arches, I found that the original footbed is actually a more supportive fit. Overall, now that I'm over the initial sore feet and hot spots, these are the only shoes I want to wear. I will most definitely be ordering another pair and may branch out to another style, though the Arizonas are fantastic!

Comfortable right off the bat! I'm generally a size 7.5-8 regular-width, so I originally ordered the 38 (narrow) thinking they would run larger, but they were every so slightly too small. I returned and ordered the 39 (narrow), which fit perfectly. I think the regular Birkenstock width would have been too wide and clunky. They are so comfortable and already feel molded to my feet. I hope to have these for years. Kudos to Zappos for their amazingly fast shipping and easy returns.

If you are contemplating buying these shoes, buy them. They are the perfect trio of comfort, style, and quality. I recommend the narrow size if you have small to average feet. The narrow perfectly hugs my feet and gives it extra support. Also, if you have Greek shaped feet like me (extended second toe, with next two not far behind) I recommend going up an entire shoe size to prevent your toes from hitting the shoe box.

Although I have several pairs of Birkenstocks, this was the first time I purchased a unisex style. I ordered my regular size, 38, with a narrow rather than a regular width, following the suggested width change because of the unisex sizing. But I found they were just a little too short. With the help of the (cheerful) Zappos customer service department, I tried a size 39, Narrow width. I found, just as he had suggested, the 39 was a tiny bit longer and the Narrow width worked just fine. He sent out the new size even before I returned the old one. It came very fast.

Love these! I had to return my normal size which is a 37 regular width, and exchange them for a 38 narrow. Just like some of the other reviews, since these are unisex, the regular runs wider than the women’s styles. The leather is beautiful!

Buying the soft sole might be a short cut to comfort but if you can be patient with the breaking in period you’ll be happier. In the end you will have all of the comfort but you will feel more stability and they will feel Ike a better quality high end shoe that last forever. Not like a comfortable shoe that you may need to buy again in a year. Go with hard bed cork and wait until it molds to your foot. You won’t regret it. You’ll want to wear them all the time. I wear my Arizona’s in the winter with socks. Much to my daughters horror. But i don’t care. I buy cute socks and make it a fashion statement. Lol.

I love the Birkenstock Arizonas. I got the oiled leather. When I received them, I applied Pure Neets foot oil and it did not significantly change the color because the leather comes pre-oiled. This is good because it means I can make the leather water resistant without affecting the look. They also came with almost brass looking buckles with looks great against the dark leather. For first-time Birkenstock buyers, I would recommend the original footbed, not the soft footbed. It will take some getting used to, but it is worth getting your feet used to them. I would only recommend the soft footbed to someone who is going to give up on Birkenstocks otherwise. Finally, the fit is crucial and the american birkenstock site does not do a good enough job educating consumers. The Australian site does a much better job. From that site: "Measure the length of your foot by standing on a flat surface with your full weight on your foot, then measure the distance from the back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe. Add 10mm to your foot length to allow your foot room to move. This will give you the footbed length you need to find your size. Measure the width of your foot across the broadest point. Compare your foot width measurement to the footbed width in your size to see if you will need a narrow or regular width. " That addition of 10mm to the length is critical because as you get used to Birkenstocks your foot will expand to its natural shape. This gives your foot room to do that.
