This is my second pair. Bought the first one mostly to go to football games during wet season. They are awesome, comfortable and warm and even during rain my feet stayed dry. Then I started a home project and used them during construction work. Cement work, roofing, lumber framing - the shoes were great. I could climb up/down ladder, be on the roof - good stability and traction. They took quite a beating but my feet stayed dry and only after being in heavy use for over a year did they start letting water through in heavy rain (waterproofing has gone but the shoes are still whole and usable as long as not exposed to heavy rain). I definitely got my money worth out of them and I bought new ones - so I have them for football games (and next construction project)

I have used this boot for hiking on flat to mountainous & muddy to rocky terrain, in the snow, through 3-4" of water, at Scout camp, on Old Rag, on the AT, to college & possibly more. I would say I wear them on average 8 days a month, however quite often rather roughly. Not including my $50 Swiss gear boots, these are the only hiking boots I have had that have lasted more than two years. Moreover, after roughly (pun intended) two & a half years, they are still in great shape and just as comfortable as they were day 1, when they needed no break in time. They are fully waterproof and so comfortable that they feel like part of my feet. (only barefoot would be far less comfortable;) I got it because I liked the look of the leather better than the non-leather Merrells, and have never regretted the choice. These are the best hiking boots under $200. (only because I have never had $200 hiking boots to compare--nor am I likely to need any, as I cannot imagine a scenario where I would need a better boot)

I ordered the third pair of these for my boyfriend now from Zappos. This time the width is definitely not fitting the bill. We did have this happen before when purchasing the boots from Dicks Sporting Goods. As suggested by a Zappos representative (who was awesome) to go up a half of a size to try to compensate. The width was a little better but the width was still not there. I am thinking that Timberland changed their soles for whatever reason so they are no longer a true wide. We will sadly be sending these back and looking for different boots.

I just received my order. These boots are exactly what I wanted. They are light weight and comfortable. They are pricey but I am on my feet all day and work outdoors.

I love these shoes. I will admit to wishing I could have bought these via a local business, but none of them had the vortex variety so I had to go on line. The shoes fit wonderfully, and arrived quickly. Packaging is also important to me. I don't like places that over package. Less is important because I wonder about it's carbon footprint. I found they don't over package.

I bought these boots in 2010 and they have remained in good shape. I bought them a half size too large, but they are still comfortable and have shown little wear. In fact they still keep out water. I used to be an avid hiker and now I just wear them out on the town or working around the house. I never cleaned or conditioned them until recently, showing how durable these boots really are.

This is a great pair of boots. I bought them for my trip to Ireland. I needed something that was sturdy and waterproof. The boots were very comfortable. It is like wearing a pair of tennis shoes. They are lightweight but give great support. While I was in Ireland I was researching my family history so I was spending time in some grave yards, very old grave yards. The terrain is very uneven but the boots performed well. When I wear these out I will buy another pair.

My husband was in the market for a great pair of waterproof winter boots so I began researching many different brands. These seemed to have a lot to offer, so I ordered them for him. As soon as he tried this pair on, he knew these were the perfect choice. Very comfortable right out of the box, so he wore them out the next day. Living in Western New York with the freezing cold temperatures and tons of snow this Winter, these have been the absolute perfect boot. He is very pleased with my choice for him, and we're both happy he didn't come home with something on his own!

I wanted a pair of waterproof boots for riding my motorcycle and these fit the bill perfectly. 3 seasons of wear and they still look great. Have ridden in major downpours on long trips and my feet stayed dry. Also, they breath well in the summer months and the footing is secure. Great for archery hunting in PA also. You won't be sorry buying these.

I am a TV cameraman who works a lot of live sporting events. This means I'm on my feet A LOT. I bought these knowing I had some outside work coming up and needed some new waterproof warm shoes. I received these on a Tuesday and my outdoor gig started Wednesday. I'm always a bit hesitant wearing brand new shoes going into a long day like that as you never know how they are going to be. I didn't have much choice, so I went ahead and wore them. They were fantastic all day long! According to my health app on my phone, I walked 11 miles that day, and my feet still felt great at the end of the day. I wore them again for the second day of the gig and felt just as good. The weather was cold, but not raining. My feet were warm and comfortable all day. I shopped around and I am so glad with my purchase of Timberland. I just hope this style is still around when I wear these out. I've had them about 2 months now and I think it's the only shoe I've worn since I bought them. Zappos delivery was next day as usual and love their customer service.

I've only owned 1 pair of these boots. I bought them 9 years ago and have worn them almost every non-summer day since. In the summer I wear flip flops most of the time, but will still wear these where flip flops aren't practical. I have worn them fishing, camping, hiking, cutting wood, to work in the office, around the house, mowing the grass, out to eat, etc. I've worn them so much, after about 3 or 4 years, they finally started to smell a bit, but some charcoal shoe inserts took care of that right away. These boots are THE most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned and were worth every penny (I bought them local and did not spend 140.00 on them). After 9 years, the stitching finally gave way on one of them, and the soles started to separate a little. This is not a complaint, but a testimony to how long these will last. I know some people get a pair that doesn't last too long for them, and all I can say is that materials and assemblers (people) vary over time. They have kept my feet warm when camping in cold weather, and dry when it is wet out. The only time my feet have been wet in them is either from sweaty socks, or when I have stepped in water that came over the top of the boot. I just ordered another pair (from another website), which should be arriving in a couple of days, and am looking forward to another 9-10 years of rugged use. I'll be keeping the old ones, which I have re-stitched, although somewhat amateurishly, to use for yard work and such. These are TERRIFIC boots!

I just bought my second pair of these boots. My first pair is far from worn out, but I like them so much I was afraid this boot would not be available when my current pair finally does wear out. So I bought the replacements now, rather than possibly miss out later.

I owned another pair of similar Timberland boots. After 2 years of wear the souls separated from the boots. I worried about whether this may happen on the new boots as well. These new boots seem to be better made.

durability, function, and comfort. Lastly, not being able to pack my cowboy boots I wore these boots on a 2.5 hour horseback ride in the Lenk region of Switzerland. They worked well for that also!

I have tried many different brands of boots and several styles of Timberland but these Chocorua boots are the most comfortable boots I have found. this is my 4th pair including a black pair. Pair 3 is still in use for hiking and yard work but were just too lived in for general wear. when you find a style and fit you like and at a reasonable price, I like that.

Exactly what I needed to wear while hiking the 33 mile Chilkoot Trail out of Skagway, Alaska across the Chilkoot Pass (same trail the gold hunters used years ago).

Great boot! These are my everyday wear. Perfect fit, the right mix of being light enough for everyday use but heavy enough to do what you need. I treat mine with Obenhauf's LP every few months. The leather uppers stay perfect and as long as the leather sheds the bulk of the water, the Gore-Tex does it's job too. They stay nice looking too. With this treatment I've never had an upper start coming apart. Those that had problems with either the uppers or waterproofness I assume let their leather dry out and crack. That will do any shoe in. I hike, camp, hunt, do work around the house in them. I wear them to work, they're great for driving, etc. Basically everything. If you get em messy hose em down. When you start seeing dark brown turn to light brown and stop beading water add the Obenhaufs. After typically 12-18 months the tread flattens out and you start losing traction. That's the failure mechanism for me. The sole is reasonably soft rubber, good for traction and foot-bed flexibility, bad for longevity, especially if you walk on concrete at all. It is what it is and I'm happy with them. Uppers and stitches still look perfect when that happens.
