Disappointed as boots started falling apart after only 3 months. I use the boots daily to walk my dog in the woods for about 2 miles per day. Had another brand that lasted 12 YEARS!!

I've worn these Timberland boots for decades and this is the first pair that do not fit. The old boots were made in China and the new ones Cambodia; maybe a quality control issue? The newer ones have significantly thinker sides and tongue, making them warmer. I think this also changes the interior length and perhaps requires a half size larger. Do not think that wearing them will enlarge the heel pocket or make them fit better. I'm stuck with these poorly fitting ones.

The part of the boot around the ankle was oddly designed. It seemed to be too small (my foot fit just fine in the bottom part), and lacing the boot up still resulted in a gap between the tongue and the top sides of the boot...tons of snow and wetness would work into these gaps, besides the fact that the stability was terrible because of this design quirk. Returned.

I had the older version of this that used Goretex and it lasted me many years of hiking use. It was an excellent boot. So bought another one two years ago. It is a poor imitation of the last version. It is NO WAY waterproof!!! This "TimberDry" is a joke. Even the dew on the grass when I walk across the field will wet my feet. And after two years, it's now falling apart. The toe cap is coming apart from the leather. This is also happening on another pair of timberland boots, also only two years old. And my boat shoes also fell apart after only 4 years, if that. My 5th and last pair. Never again will I buy timberland. The quality just isn't there anymore.

Soles fell off after only a few months of light use! I ended up having to do a 3 day hike with the boots duct-taped onto my legs so I wouldn't be barefoot, as the soles had failed mid-way through a multi-day hike.
Would not recommend.

They fit fine right out of the box .Just a few days to break in and really comfortable .I would have loved to keep them but they are not waterproof like the name says . Very dissapointing as I have been thru so many shoes here that say waterproof but after like a week or so and after walking thru wet grass my socks are wet . Not good Had rto return them .
So does anyone know of any boots that are really waterproof ??

I was worried that a EE width would be too wide. Silly me. I could barely get my foot into these boots. They pinched my feet and my toes touched the end of the toe box. Other than being too small and narrow, they looked well-constructed and stylish.

These are very comfortable, however, these boots only lasted 6 months before the sole fell half way off. I used them only for work (office and walking on concrete floors) and once for "hiking". It was a 3 mile trail with a 4 year old and 2 year old so not a challenging trail. The soles are not worn out and the top has plenty of life left. Shoes fail, it happens, however, Timberland does not even stand behind their own products. Returned them for warranty review and they sent them back with a letter, "The product displayed physical signs that equal or exceed the expectation for the use of the product." "Our warranty does not cover the replacement of products that have been SUFFICIENTLY worn." as far as I can see, they are not "hiking" boots. They are only built to sit on the shoe rack.

Nine weeks after I bought these boots the top hook pulled out from the fabric. It had no backing for the rivets.
I wore my last pair of Chocurua boots for 10 years with no problems so Timberland has changed the design for the worse.

I never write reviews, but I feel it my civic duty to share what I have learned the hard way....
The good reviews for this boot are old. They were written when the boot was made with GORE-TEX. Even though the description clearly states that the boot has a goretex membrane it does not. It has Timberland's version of goretex..."timber dry". The picture has since been updated to show this.
Why care? Gore tex still stands behind their product, for life. Timberland, 1 year. Gore tex BREATHES! Timber-dry does not. These boots are like wearing plastic bags for socks. It gets pretty bad, pretty fast.
And the construction/quality of the boot has hit an all time low after steadily declining for years. Sizing seems to be just a little smaller than before. 10.5 wide used to be perfect, now they are too tight and just too short. 11 too big. My sizing issues won't affect everyone, but the timber dry will almost certainly prove to be a deal breaker.
Really truly is a shame. I have been wearing these boots for everything over the last 10 years. They didn't last long, maybe a year or two if you were lucky, but it was worth it.
Timberland has since come out with the chocura 2.0 with goretex. I am wearing them now, wishing I could have gotten them from Zappos (because they are the best!), wishing they were as comfortable as the originals, and wishing they weren't made from recycled material and environmentally friendly glues. It doesn't do the environment any favors if consumers have to replace the product 5 times as often as before.

Purchased in Jan 2016, used 3 times week for walking 5-8 miles on paved areas. Boots are just falling apart. Sole came unglued, heels worn down to nothing. The soles are flat, and they are hollow core not solid as outward appearance would suggest. Can not imagine how must faster they would have blown out if used on rocky or uneven terrain. Poor quality. I have tennis shoes that held up better!

I am very dissatisfied with this product. When I received the first package the boots were too small, then when I returned them for a size larger they came back too big. I kept the big ones, and wore them mostly to work and on hikes in the mountains. In about a week, the inner lace hooks were getting caught on everything, making me trip, and eventually breaking off. I tried to return them but it was going to take them four weeks to process the return and it wasn't worth the wait for me because i use these boots for work. THEN after a few more weeks of work and hikes, the actual lace loops were breaking off. Although these boots are comfortable, the ankle support isn't great, and the sole is flimsy and the hardware is bad. 0 star rating from a hard working, hard hiking man.

Bought these boots to wear at work. I work in a show room and I'm on my feet all day. The boots were comfortable but didn't last long. After three weeks of wear they started to separate on the outside toe of the right boot. The rubber separated from the leather just at the toe crease, about 2.5 to 3 inches long. Sent them back, Timberland recieved on Dec.5, 2014. Deemed a defect, I had to call them on 1/14/2015 and still have not recieved my replacement boots on 1/26/2015. Very dissatisfied with Customer Service and Product.

When I got these boots for hiking and hunting I was excited as they had great reviews. They needed almost no breaking in and were comfy from the start. I used them for a couple up country bird hunts and they were great until the toe got dented in from hitting a rock(the other shoe had the same problem couple months later). It then was always rubbing on my big toe but was bearable. I still used them for a bit but soon noticed the bottom hardware hook was about to break off. I now have to bend it back when I hike every so often. Shortly after they started failing when it came to waterproof. For a boot that I've had for a little over a year I expect more. I'm not taking extreme hikes and not in harsh environments such as over rocks in AZ.I'm on trails that are cleared and in the mountains in New England and for a company the prides itself on being from New England I would hope it would be able to at least handle that. This boot is good for the guy that hikes groomed trails and stay on the path the whole time as these boots don't seem to be able to handle much more then that. I also wish that Timberland had a guarantee that would cover basic wear that leads to major failure for up to a year. I think you should expect a hiking boot to be able to hold up for over a year with normal wear for 140$. Sadly these didn't.

I've just got these boots to work, due the waterproof promise. As an engineer, I have to enter a lot of places that contains about one and a half inches of water on the floor.
In order to not have to use rubbermaid boots, because they are big to carry and unconfortable to use all day long, I thought I had found the best of both worlds...
At home, before I try the real enviroment, I put some water on a bukcet, taking care to not exceed the height limits. In about 3 minutes my socks were all wet.
It does not leak, but the soft material between the external leather/nylon and the Gore-Tex waterproof protection inside, will carry the water up to your legs, meeting the socks, leading the water down inside the boots!

I was very disappointed with every aspect of this shoe except the aesthetics. But as sharp as these boots look, they simply don't deliver on build quality and design. The footbed was hard and uncomfortable. The boots were too wide for a medium width and did not provide ankle support (note the steep angle of the collar; it falls below your ankle). My foot slipped and torqued. Timberland has not maintained their former high quality standards. On a positive note, the Zappos customer service representative I spoke with could not have been more helpful. I returned these boots and am awaiting a credit.

The Timberland Chocorua Trail Boots are true to length but much more narrow than marked. The leather has a distressed appearance that marks extremely easily. Didn't care for them.
