I love these shoes and purchased this pair as a replacement for Gizehs I have been wearing for at least the last 6 years. As others have mentioned, quality-wise they came with a bit of glue on the cork where it shouldn't have been which was a bit annoying considering the cost and the brand reputation. It seems cosmetic on this pair, but still makes me wonder if they were put together as well as they would have you believe they are and have been in the past.

These are comfortable as all Birkies are, but the footbed is slightly more narrow than the Arizona style. And the cross strap fits very high in your foot. I have a very high instep and although it does adjust to fit, it is just not as comfortable.

I’ve worn Arizonas for a long time now so the Gizeh took a little while for me to get used to and I’m so glad I gave it some time because it’s now my favorite. The “regular” width of these is just a little bit wider and longer than my narrow Arizonas- so literally perfect for me as the regular width in the AZ is just a little too big for me and narrow didn’t leave me a ton of room if my feet swelled at all. I’m normally a size 7 and consistently a 37 in Birkenstocks. The part in between the toe was a little awkward at first, it is a hard plasticky feel, but I don’t notice it at all now- I will definitely be buying more of this style.

I ordered the Birkenstock Gizeh in Oiled Leather. The color on the leather is a bit lighter than pictured. The ones I received were more toward the mocha color. I was hoping I would get something that looked worn and broken-in, in a darker color much like in the picture. Unfortunately the sandals weren't the color I expected. I did return them but not because of the color. My daughters and several friends have them, and are very satisfied. I will say the leather and buckle are good quality and are made to last. I would have kept them, but these just don't fit my feet right. I have found Vionic to be a good alternative.

I really want a pair of Birkenstocks because of the comfort however I just can't seem to find a model/style that fits my foot. I am a 7.5 and ordered an 8 they were just too big.

Really like this shoe but the plastic part between the toes is rough on the skin.

These shoes are GOOD and BAD. Just a simple heads up here. I chose to measure my foot and compare to the Euro sizing and they find perfect. I wear an 8.5 and bought a 39. However they were so uncomfortable when I first wore them BUT because of other reviews I committed to breaking them in and kept wearing them even when I wanted to take them off. It paid off though because within a week they were perfect!!! I'm LOVE them! Now the only other issue I've had is that both shoes have cracked cork where my toes bend from my foot. It's not too noticeable but why are they cracked at all? I don't stand around bending my feet or walking on my toes. I will buy another pair in the future because I live in them during the summer.

Very classy sandal. The leather could have been a little softer. I always take a Euro size 37 and this is true to size. Comfortable to wear, too.

Love Birkenstocks! I love Birkenstocks, and these provide the same support and comfort when standing and walking that my old pair did, with the exception of the thong. Sometimes, when walking up or down stairs or an incline, I REALLY feel that and it makes my toes sore sometimes. I still consider them in the break in period, though so this may go away- I hope so!

Front strap - The look of the front strap is large and on a smaller foot looks plain.

Pretty Good Sandal - The Gizeh sandal is pretty good, although it takes a little while to break into them. I had them for about two weeks and then my husband and I went to Las Vegas---after a day of walking around on the Strip, my soles were killing me and I got some really bad blisters--this surprised me from a Birkenstock. Also, the cloth that extends beyond the big toe takes a while to get used to, but now it is fine. I would definitely order Birks again, but maybe break them in before doing heavy walking!

Birkenstock Gizeh Review - Good shoe. It adds an interesting twist to pencil skirts or cropped jeans. People often make some positive remark about it. Its comfort is Birkenstock comfort- where for some it will be great and for others it will be horrible. They fit me pretty well so I like them.

Just want you say that if you're new to Birks, ignore the sizing advice from these reviews and go to the Birkenstock website and read their sizing information. They include an online calculator, sizing chart and fit video. Birks are supposed to be roomy, and your heel isn't supposed to sit all the way back against the edge of the shoe. It's true that these shoes can be uncomfortable at first, especially if the fit isn't quite right, so do yourself a favor and do some research before purchasing a pair. Reddit groups r/Birkenstocks and r/Birkenstockfitchecks can also be helpful.

Beware this is not the correct color. I sent two pairs back not even close to the picture of the oiled tobacco pictured on the site. I would call these cream color. They did a great job on the exchange but sadly I got the same ones the second time and was refunded.

If you like otherwise new leather that looks as though it has been run over in the driveway a few times, then you will like the look of this sandal. I like the Gizeh sandal but this pair had to go back.

I wanted to LOVE these shoes. The arch support and stiffness of the sole was exactly what I needed. Sadly, I'm returning because the rivet on the underside of the button rubbed my skin off on the top of my foot.

I tried REALLY hard to like these, they are so darn cute and very supportive. My issue is with the plastic toe thing; it's so hard and inflexible. Very uncomfortable. I tried wearing them around inside because I wanted them to work so badly, but decided for the price I want supreme comfort and with that giant hard rubber toe insert it wasn't happening.

I so wanted to love these. Tried in the women's narrow but they were still too wide for my narrow feet. Have found that the Arizona in narrow with the soft footbed fit just right. I so wish that Birkenstock would offer the Gizeh in narrow with the soft footbed.

I've worn size 38 Berks for years and I'd say the footbed is true to size but the plastic piece that goes between the toes is too short with no give therefore painfully smashing the top strap against my toes. Returned and ordered size 39 and toe strap was roomy enough but footbed too long. These are so adorable wish they had worked for me.

I have worn many Birkenstock's over the years and I am a serious flip-flop lover. I couldn't handle the plastic between the toe. I know that Birkenstocks need to be broken in but I tried for about two weeks and finally gave up. I have a pair with leather between the toe (Mayari) no problems.

Comfortable. But I don't see what all the hype is about Birkenstocks. The leather by the buckled rubbed against my skin caused blisters and the those rubbed again one of my toes. But over all comfortable.

Love the look, more feminine Birkenstock appearance; however, I found the thong strap to be particularly hard and uncomfortable.

The Thong - I own over 75 pairs of Birkenstock sandals and clogs and love them dearly. I have flat feet and the Birks are the only sandal I wear. I asked my Podiatrist about wearing Birkenstocks and he said that he wears them!! I purchased my first pair of thong Birkenstocks and they looked so cute. I did however get blisters from the thong between my toes. So, I would not recommend these to anyone who is not used to thongs between their toes…

TOO wide for narrow feet. I really like these but I need a narrow. Toe part on left shoe was really painful. Could not keep them on my feet.

This is the second time Zappos has sent me the wrong item. I have ordered Birkenstock Gizeh Oiled Leather twice and each time been sent the Birkenstock Gizeh Tobacco...not the oiled leather, which costs more than the standard Gizeh!
