My husband bought these because he’s an RN and needed a comfortable shoe that supported him during the long shifts. These are definitely not the most attractive shoe, but until someone makes cool nursing shoes for men these are great.

I just ordered my second pair of the Addiction Walker after wearing my first pair literally every day for the past three years. I work at a 700 acre arboretum and wear these through wet grass, uneven ground and in all types of weather. When I first put them on they felt stiff, but after a few days or maybe a week they felt better than just about any shoe I've worn. They have held up well but my hard everyday use means it's time for a new pair.

My husband wears these for work where he walks an average of 10-15 miles per day on primarily concrete surfaces (which will wear out the sturdiest of shoes). We tried several different shoes before we found these and we have ordered them regularly for the last 4 years or so - well constructed, comfortable, good support, roomy toe box.

I tried these at the suggestion of several friends. I've worn several leading brands (Rockport, New Balance, and Reebok) over the years and find that the shoes simply don't last long before the arches flatten out. These Brooks shoes fit well right out of the box. I am a size 12 extra-wide. The shoes fit perfectly with normal athletic socks and also heavy thermal socks. I have walked 15 miles in them so far, and they are serving me well. If the arches continue to offer good support for a few months (at 2.5 miles per day,) I will remain thrilled!

I'm a 6'1", 56 yr old 300lbs man and I have to walk and climb steps on a Yard Truck a lot at work, constantly on the go. I'm a shuttle driver at a Distribution center. Most tennis Shoe designs won't hold up to the hard steel on the trucks, and concrete and blacktop, and gravel lots I walk on. I prefer a shoe over a boot for my job. I have big wide feet, 14 4E, and I'm hard to fit. My feet have each had broken bones in them over the years, and my knees are in bad shape. These give me room for my toes, and as much comfort as any shoe I have worn, and until I wear them out, they give me a correct and stable walking platform. When they wear down, like any shoe does over time, I know it's time to get a new pair, when my hips and knees begin to hurt. I've been buying these shoes for years, countless pairs, and cannot find anything better for me. I've tried NB, and a few others. They just don't help like these do. I am a repeat customer for many years, buying these shoes.I also at times will replace the insole, with a gel work insole, but the Memory foam ones that come with it, are really good to, I just need a little extra cushion during the heaviest working periods of the year.I hope this helps.
I'd also recommend:
NB maybe, Brooks for standing and walking a lot. None better to me.

I am in constant hip pain....need them both replaced. But, while not the most aesthetically appealing shoe, they are extremely comfortable. I added an extra pair of memory foam orthotics under the ones included, and it was even better. Only problem is that the tongue can be bothersome if you choose to not wear socks

This is the fourth pair of these shoes I have bought for my husband. He is diabetic and has very wide feet. He has been very happy with these and I intend to get the black leather ones when his size comes back in stock.

I bought these in March and wore them everyday at work sine then. Size and width are exact, shoes are very comfortable. I use custom made insoles and they fit great in the shoes. Recommend you waterproof them to last longer.

Buy 'em. Really, if you are looking for overpronation support - I mean, really great overpronation support - you will not find any shoe better than this unless somehow your podiatrist directs you to some special orthotic shoe known only to podiatrists. I did my due diligence in researching shoes for severe flat fleet and collapsed arches (my left foot), ample toe box for bunions (my bunions can beat up your bunions) and the resulting big toe angled in toward the other toes (we terrible feet sufferers know this as "hallux valgus" because we have done our research), there is a 99.99% chance you will not find a better walking shoe in the retail market (I have not yet tried the New Balance 928v5). The arch has what Brooks calls an "Extended Progressive Diagonal Rollbar." You can feel it in the shoe when you remove the insole. It's like to other built-in arch support I have ever encountered in years and years of trying a truckload of shoes. Now, I don't know about Brooks' "Beast" and "Adrenaline GTS" running shoes which also have the same technology, but they have mesh uppers. There is a support difference between all leather uppers and mesh uppers. I can walk again like a normal human being. My feet and ankles don't hurt any more. As Arnold said, "trust me."

Hmmm.... OK, I try not to review stuff because it to takes too long to comment if I don't like it and if it is OK then it is just OK. Quick story for reference. I grew up in the 50's and 60's with shoes that were on sale at Dave's shoes and sears. Price was more important than fit since the kids blazed through our shoes on the way to school. So I was never made aware that fit and comfort were something you looked for in a shoe. Kind of like food, tasteless, dry and bland was my mothers standard or lack thereof. So believe me when I say this. Since I left home I have had some 5 star meals that have made up for my mothers lack of cooking skills and I have fought to find comfortable shoes not on sale. This pair of shoes is 5 stars. and by far the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever had hands down. Everyone's feet are different. My feet, if not taken care of, will cause me to become exhausted. The fit must be firm and enfolding, the cushion strong but giving; these walkers fit all my criteria.
Best money I have ever spent on a shoe.

I walk 25-30 miles a week and have worn out two pair of these shoes previously. I have a narrow foot and Brooks one of the few makers that provides for narrow feet. I wouldn’t say they are the height of shoe fashion but if you want comfort and fit, they fit the bill.

I cannot believe how comfortable, supportive, and great looking these sneakers are. Awesome!!! I have overpronation and these are the first sneakers I have bought that truly provide the support and shoe design that help correct this problem. I also love the solid arch support while allowing me to experience great cushion for when I am working out, exercising, and general comfort while simply walking. I would love to see these in navy.

Great support for flat feet!
My husband has flat feet, so when he started a new job where he was walking outside for hours, his feet and ankles were in such constant pain he was worried he'd have to quit. I realized his sneakers barely gave his feet any support, so I looked online and saw these on nearly every list of "best walking shoes for flat feet" and thought he should give them a try. The footbed in these is not particularly soft, but along with shock-absorbing inserts (Dr. Scholls Custom Fit), these shoes seem to really be doing the trick. He has told me that his feet and ankles feel a thousand times better, even after pounding the pavement all day. Definitely recommend if you have flat feet!
He did have to exchange the first pair we got for half a size up, so you may want to order two, just to make sure, and then return the one that doesn't fit (returns are so easy and pain-free here, there's really no reason not to).

I have just received my new shoes and I'm reviewing the old pair. I got just a week shy of six months out of them. I wore them at work daily and occasionally on weekends. They work well with my orthotics. I wear a 10 1/2 4E in this shoe. I have been satisfied with these shoes overall. So, I've continued to buy them. The stitching on the tops of the shoes by the toes has started to unravel. Looks really bad.

I've had major foot, knee, hip, AND back problems over the years and found that the old Reebok Club C shoes were OKAY in terms of preventing a lot of pain from my long walks. However, they would wear out quickly (two-three months), so that was costly. Then last year, Reebok drastically cut down the impact absorption of the Club C and "replaced" that capacity with cheaper "memorytech." I figured I'd give the new Club C a try. Within months, my "good" knee was on fire with pain and both hips hurt more and more. My "good" foot also began to hurt. I was desperate and tried about ten different pairs of shoes until I hit on the Brooks Addiction Walker. The velcro version isn't stylish, but is convenient for walking and the lace versions ARE stylish for a professor who needs good support but doesn't want to overdo the nerd factor. My knee and hip problems quickly disappeared and my "good" foot got better. I have noticed that after a three hour class where I am on my feet constantly, I actually feel pretty good now, which was not the case with even the old Reeboks. I haven't had shoes that actually made me feel BETTER in years and years. The extra cost seems worth it--they are lasting longer and I feel SOOO much better. First time I've had shoes that were comfortable in ages. So FIVE stars.

I really like the Brooks Addiction series. I have some ankle pain. Brooks Addiction is very comfortable and supports me well. Brooks Addiction Walker is very stylish and I usually wear them at office. I bought a brown pair in 2015 and a black pair in 2016. Very satisfied.

I've been very happy with the shoes in terms of comfort and support. I've been having ball foot pain (capsulitis) and the shoes have helped. After being happy with a black pair, I ordered the white. Be warned that the white is not a true white but an off-white color more like a light cream which was not what I wanted. Comfort comes first so I'll stick with them.

Last year I bought the black version of the Addition Walker and was very satisfied with it. Recently I also bought the brown version and found it to be a bit narrower. The black is made in China while the brown comes from Viet Nam. Both shoes were 4E in width and my feeling is that they are not all that wide. My feet at the widest point are 4.5 inches and the bottom of the soles are 4.75 inches. These will not fit someone with really wide feet or is 4E and wants to wear thick socks.
As I say, I am happy with the black shoes and my foot doctor said I made a good choice with them.

These are my all the time, go to shoes. I order them over and over. I am very hard on shoes and wear pretty much only these, so I order about four pairs a year. The old beat-up ones become my gardening shoes and I wear them untill they are falling apart (which takes some doing because they are well made). They were podiatrist recommended because they have a generous toe box and the laces let me adjust the width. I have had big toe surgery twice and these shoes give me both the support and room I need. My only complaint is that the brown version is suede and I would prefer it to be smooth leather like the black.
