Nice Boot/Shoe - This is the SUV of tennis shoe/hiking boots. Goes as well on the trail of a water fall as it does on a trek in a mall. Rugged good looks and a very nice feel and fit. Only down side is like a brand new SUV 4x4 you won't want to get them dirty or in the mud, then you can't wear them to the club.

This is the best... I'm a meter reader and walk about 3500 miles a year in all kinds of terrain and weather. I've tried them all and nothing compares with this shoe! I have never been able to wear any shoe two days in a row (about 15-18 miles a day). I wear this one EVERY day. Everything else feels like cardboard on my feet after wearing these. After a LOT of bucks and effort this is the one!!

Excellent mid-height lightweight hiking shoe. I have a wide foot, so I ordered a 2E, and they felt great immediately. I went for a half-hour walk in them the same afternoon they arrived, and have used them for walking each day since then. They were great on a recent six-hour hike in wet snow and mud along the Appalachian Trail. Definitely waterproof.

Comfortable, great fit. I ordered these for my husband in an EE. He likes them very much and says they are very comfortable. He is impossible to fit at any shoe store and has no patience for shopping. It's amazing to order one pair of shoes and have them fit perfectly. It's very masculine, resembling a work boot in style.

Great for long standing work! (New Balance MW977) I work 10-12 hours a day, three days in a row. I stand on vibrating steel constantly. I need something that fits well and cushions and supports. These are perfect! Thanks New Balance! And thank you Zappos!

New Balance's MW977 - Nice shoe good support and a good shoe for what New Hampshire throws at you for weather. When I first got them made ankle bone sore but after a week of use fits like a glove now.

Fits great for extra wide feet - I purchased these for my husband who is very hard to fit due to his wide feet and his need for good arch support. These work great for him. He did mention they are very warm to wear -good for cold weather but maybe a little too warm for spring or summer.

Review of New Balance's MW977 - Simply the best shoe N/B makes as far as I’m concerned. I've been wearing this model for a few years now, and they last me over a year. Keep in mind I wear them 7 days a week, 365 days out of the year.

Review of New Balance MW977 - My son has very wide, flat feet and large orthotics so it is often difficult to find shoes that will fit. He is very, very happy with these boots and wears them everyday to school now instead of his normal walking shoes.

Sneaker boots - These shoes have the comfort of sneakers and the winter wearability of boots. As a female with very wide feet and orthodic inserts to add to that, it is hard to find a boot that accommodates the width and depth of my feet. These do, along with feeling softly comfortable. I walk about five or six miles a day and these boots support me in doing so.

What I Expected - I bought this pair of shoes for a trip to New Zealand as I wanted shoes that could double for walking and going out to dinner. I'm very pleased with the fit and look of these shoes.

MW977 - I ordered these shoes for my husband for a birthday gift. He wears them every weekend and said they are very comfortable. Great shoe.

Exceptional Winter Walking/Hiking Shoe - New Balance shoes always give my wide, flat foot the best fit & support. But when I've looked for a waterproof winter leather hiker, I was disappointed (the MW965 just wasn't comfortable) until they came out with this one which is just right. It has a very solid build and the "outdoors man" look I like. With my inserted orthotics, it's perfect for long walks on both rough trail and urban street surfaces in cold weather.

Best hiking shoe I've ever had - I'm an aging hiker who has put a few thousand miles on his hiking boots. I have a wide foot, 11 4E that has made a good boot fit very difficult in the past. My last pair was also New Balance, because they offer wide sizes, and I got four good years out of them, but these 977s are magnificent! I spent an entire week in them in the Rockies in late November and early December. Temperatures were below zero and as high as mid-thirties. Some days I walked in shallow snow. With gaiters, I'd stay with these even in deep snow. They are waterproof, but I sprayed two coats of a waterproofing product on them anyway. Never did my feet get wet or cold. And they are supremely comfortable. I put Spenco insoles in them, but after putting some miles on these shoes, am convinced that was unnecessary. They are great out of the box. No breaking in necessary.

Perfect...as usual! The NB MW977 is the latest in a long line of casual shoes that are not only stylish, but comfortable to wear. I drive for a living, and these shoes are nice and light weight, but still give me the support that I need. I am a big guy, size 13EEEE, and man, these are like slippers. Thanks NB for hitting the nail on the head!!!

I do urban walking, but not hardcore. I'm an older gentlemen, so comfort is a feature I look for. Well this shoe fits the bill. Keeps my foot/ankle supported and does not create any blister areas. Good shoe, would recommend it to a friend.

Very lightweight shoes. Sizes run a little small, they were a little even with the widest width. The molding on the left toe is already coming loose after wearing them less than a dozen times.

Almost Great - I bought these for work boots. (I'm a land surveyor on my feet all day.) They're light weight, water resistant, and generally very comfortable. I have wide feet and they came in extra wide (4E). That was great. My only complaint is that they really need better footbeds in them. I had to purchase inserts to make them as comfortable as they need to be.

This shoe is a winner. Looks good, fits perfectly. Only thing I wish is it had better arch support.

Close, but no cigar - I am almost always happy with New Balance. They deserve a lot of credit for not going along with the insane "one width fits all" mentality of most shoe manufacturers. These hikers are mostly great and mostly comfortable except for a very annoying seam that runs diagonally across the top of the toe box. It WILL give you blisters, unless you be sure to wear the boots a lot before going any distance. I am getting calluses on the tops of my toes now, so I expect they will be OK for my upcoming hiking trip to the Canary Islands. I can't believe that with all their experience designing shoes, New Balance couldn't have anticipated this problem or corrected it (with extra padding?) by now.
