Best shoes I ever had - Most comfortable shoes I ever had. I like them so much I use them everywhere.

New Balance fan - Another great shoe from New Balance. I often buy New Balance because my podiatrist recommends this brand in sneakers. When I needed a hiking shoe, I was surprised to see this one at Zappos. It has the fit and comfort of a sneaker with the style of a casual dress shoe. It really has a very nice look and a great fit.

Saved me a trip to the doctor! I work overseas in Iraq. I just got moved to a new camp and I have to walk a good 3-5 miles a day. I tell ya, I had some good steel toe shoes and work boots that were comfortable and doing that much walking killed my feet. I even tried the gel insole stuff. Forget it...I’m talking about serious pain here. I was starting to wonder if I had some kind of foot condition that would require me to take medical leave. Even in my tennis shoes I felt the same doing that much walking around on rough terrain. Anyway, my friend Google showed me these shoes and I decided to get them. Wow...best decision I could have made being at this camp. Holy moly these shoes are great! I'm talkin night and day great! In two days all my foot pains subsided. Gravel, rock, various kinds of pavements, it doesn’t matter this shoe handles it all. I like it so much, I’m buying a second pair because I've seen good shoes come and go and this is the one I need! New Balance, I hope you guys read this! Now I have to admit, I'm a heavy guy and my dogs are ugly. I’m talkin Fred Flintstone here, fat flat feet! And these shoes really provide me incredible support. I feel blessed. In fact there was a couple of times I could have rolled my ankle but I really think the shoe is so good I was able to pull out before it rolled. I now wear these shoes everyday. Thank you New Balance!

Great shoes! I have a neuroma in my right foot and I am always looking for a good shoe that has a better foot bed and doesn't put any pressure on my toes. I have found it! They were comfortable and supportive right away and I love them. The only con is the lacing system takes some getting used to. I was told it was better for hikers.

Best work shoe I ever owned - I have a bad back & need a good waterproof shoe. I tried several boots & all were too heavy & bothered my back. These are like wearing athletic shoes but are made like boots. I even wear them when I’m not working...

Great Shoes - My husband has a hard time finding a really comfortable pair of shoes to work in. He is very happy with these. Good support. Not heavy.

AWESOME SHOE for outdoor carpenter working in cold & wet! It took us 5 pairs of shoes to narrow it down to this. Hubby has wide fore foot and a "normal" heel. Usually a 2E so had to send them back for the 4E - PERFECT! Order up if you have wide feet. 2E was like a regular size. Nice roomy toe box, snug heel. Fits high arch foot. Lots of rocker, lightweight and warm. If you live or work in a hot climate these would be too warm for everyday. But here it is chilly and wet; hubby has worn them everyday since they arrived 2 weeks ago. He loved them the second he put them on! I additionally sealed the seams with seam seal, tried to seal the leather with NikWax but none of it absorbed because they are what they say they are - WATERPROOF. Says it right on the side of the shoe. These are NOT the GORTEX version. We would recommend for an athletic work shoe. Way to go NB! Have already ordered another pair, hubby blasts through about 4 pair of shoes like this each year! 210 pounds on his feet 50+ hours a day will do that!

Happy feet Joe - This is the greatest site for shoes, boots, any kind of footwear, if you want pink high heel alligator sneakers they got um, you name it they got um. ZAPPOS is the place. This is not a joke...The selection of shoes is unbelievable.

Better than expected - I was impartial to Asolo hiking shoes so a bit reluctant to try these. I am pleasantly surprised. They look good and after a few days are very comfortable. The real test will be durability. I have had an Asolo and a Nike in which the soles split in less than a year. If these hold up New Balance may be 'my' brand. BTW. Zappos was great to do business with. Shipping is real fast and the shoes arrived perfect. Thanks Zappos.

The most comfortable hiking shoe I've worn. Felt great from the first. No break in period required. Cleans up easily.

Excellent hiker - Very comfortable shoe that seems to be able to take a beating, good traction and support.

Great boot for the rainy northwest - I just moved to Portland and needed a good looking everyday type boot for the winter. These are Gore-Tex for the rain and comfortable out of the box. As far as hiking/walking boots go - these are perfect.

Another fine NB product - Very comfortable and true to size. Gives solid support yet is not heavy and bulky. Does take some time to get used to the 3/4 heigth that goes over the ankles. This shoe will be my footwear for hiking Hadrian's Wall next year!

My first New Balance shoe - This was the first time I've tried any shoe by New Balance and was really surprised on how light and sturdy it was. But most of all I was shocked to how comfortable it felt on my feet. Now I will try another one to see if its line of boots are all good.

Good Shoe If You're on Your Feet a Lot - The New Balance MW977 GTX is a good everyday shoe. As someone who is on their feet for much of the day (including on hard surfaces), I developed a painful case of plantar fasciitis, and so shoes that provide good cushioning are important to me. Since switching to shoes with proper cushioning several years ago, my plantar fasciitis has become nearly free of pain on most days. In the two weeks that I've owned the MW 977 shoes, I've found them to be comfortable. Finally, while it isn't important for my needs, I should note that these shoes seem to have a somewhat wider toe area (without the entire shoe being wider) than most shoes with which I have experience.

Finally - Finally, a great hiking boot that comes in wide sizes. I haven't actually hiked with mine yet, but i have worn them around town to make sure I do want to go hiking...and I am VERY pleased. You can't go wrong with New Balance and Gore Tex.

Just got my MW977 - OK, I've only owned my 977's for one day, but what a day. My company holds an annual user conference, and it is this week. After arriving at 6:45 this morning in my previous 'most comfortable shoes', I was surprised and very pleased when my 977's arrived a day early from Zappos around mid day. I immediately put them on, and I'm glad that I did. I have always had a problem with shoes that have a toe box that pinches my feet to the point where, at the end of the day, I am in misery. The first thing that I noticed about the 977's was that there was no pinching at all. The toe box was very roomy. I ended up on my feet in these new shoes for almost 9 hours, and at the end of the day, I had no comfort problems whatsoever. This is definitely a first for me. I may very well buy a second pair. One for long light hiking days, and one just to kick around in and for days when I can wear casual shoes at work.

Great Heavy Duty Trail Runner - I purchased the 977 to use while trail running/hiking my two very athletic dogs - 2 -3 miles per run, twice a day. I am impressed by the torsional strength and support of this model, think of them as a heavy-duty trail running shoe. Thanks to the leather upper design, they are very comfortable right out of the box, with hardly any break-in period required. The 977 is light enough to be quick, but with far more substance than most trail shoes. The shoe last works for my foot shape - which is a normal heel, high instep, and wide forefoot. It accommodates my orthotics, and there is plenty of volume available for an extra set (or two) of Spenco insoles for the padding I require to help with arthritic pain control. The waterproof capability is a trade-off - it has worked well the times I have stepped into a stream or on the edge of Donner Lake, but the shoe is warmer than most trail shoes as a result. An all-around excellent model, and I will purchase it again, - but with all my foot problems, I could even use more support in whatever model New Balance offers up next in this niche!

Love these!! These were comfortable from the moment I put them on and since then I have hiked about 50 miles. They are just perfect! The only boot I have found that is wide enough.

Most comfortable work boot - I know this is meant to be a hiking boot, but I use them at work. I work 12.5 hour shifts that require a lot of walking upstairs, downstairs, up and down ladders, etc. I ordered these because I was having a lot of foot pain from my other work boots. The pain was gone within a week because of the great support.

Great Hiker - I tried on quite a few hiking boots, before I decided on this. I checked Zappos and they were a bit cheaper. Of course I got them quickly. When I got them, they were very comfortable and did not require a break in period. Awesome boot.

Excellent cold weather show - This is THE shoe for cold weather comfort, beautifully built, rugged and quite good looking. If you have wide feet, New Balance shoes are the answer and of course, Zappos is the only way to order them.

Listen up wide width ladies...these boots are PERFECT! I have very wide feet and I needed a boot to go hiking in. These boots are heaven sent, I know this sounds crazy to be so excited about a boot, but when you have extra wide feet, wearing shoes and finding ones that fit are a nightmare. I can honestly say for the first time in my life, I actually did physical activity without any pain from my shoes not being wide enough. They look great too, cause they have that slightly worn look! Oh and one more thing, they have like super shock absorbers in them. I am an over weight girl and I hiked straight up hill on a 2 hour rocky trail and not one time did the bottom of my feet hurt at all. They also kept me from turning my ankle twice on the rocky ledges. I highly recommend this boot, especially for woman with extra wide width feet.

Finding the MW977 not true to size. Feeling a half size larger and wider. It’s an overall very good rugged shoe.

Give the ROLLBAR a chance - The 977 is a superb shoe. When I first tried them on however I thought to myself "whoa.... what is this ROLLBAR?" I was not used to a ROLLBAR, and initially the feel when walking seemed weird. I thought to myself this isn't for me, but fortunately I decided to give them a second chance. Good decision. The more I walked around in them the more I liked the ROLLBAR. In fact, it kind of forces you to walk correctly and adds a bit of a spring to your step. I've walked for miles in them without fatigue. A superb walker.
