Good winter boot - Good boot overall. I am a woman who has a wide foot and have a hard time finding shoes that fit. These were nice looking and can be worn by either M/F. I thought they ran rather small. I usually take a size 8 - 9 in a Men's. I ordered in a size 10 4E and it felt wonderful. I also tried a pair of Red Wing in the same size and those were much too large. I put my own orthotics in these New Balance and they felt comfortable and there was enough toe room. I have a hard time trying to find comfortable shoes and these fit wonderful. I didn't have to break them in. They are a little stiff but in time they will be even better. NO blisters with these. Kept feet warm and dry.

These shoes are absolutely gorgeous--my dream shoes--except they run a full size small. I just reordered them in a size 8 1/2 instead of my usual 7 1/2. I can't wait to get them!

Great shoe - Comfy, light, well made. I got the 9-4E, Appears to be a very rare width but good for my feet. There are few (if any) other brands with options as wide as New Balance. I have been wearing their tennis shoes for years because of this.

Made for walking - A lot of walking/hiking boots only are made in medium widths, too tight for me. Still, I need support for walking on loose rock on slopes, and slick stepping stones so loose shoes don't work either. These work well, have GORE-TEX, and don't have half the colors of the rainbow!

It would be nice if with every shoe purchased, an extra pair of shoelaces came with each pair. The shoes far outlive laces and it is almost impossible to find correct laces.

! This ankle boot is fully water-proof and snow-proof. You can step in shin-deep snow, step out and you wouldn't have any of it inside your boot (the boot, however, may be a little cold for a bit, but not for long!). The best part about them is how comfortable they are! Sure, if you have a certain spade-like foot they could rub your outside toes a little at first, but, like any shoe, you have to break them in the first couple of days (this doesn't take long either). EXTREMELY adaptable and not heavy at all so you can walk fast. Definitely think New Balance has got a secret here that others don't have. I highly recommended for ANY weather.

Great shoe! I have a wide foot and wear orthotics so went with the 4E/11 1/2 size. I wear fairly thick socks as well. This turned out to be a great combination for winter walks and all round use.

Great order - This shoe was my first order with Zappos.com. I was impressed with both! The shoe arrived quickly, was well constructed and stylish. Great pair of shoes for active people - I only buy shoes at Zappos and usually Redwink. I thought New Balance only made running shoes. This is a great boot.

NB = the magical pain relieving shoe company - I don't know what it is about NB, but when I wear their shoes my whole body feels better. For the longest time I let style trump comfort, and so I was always wearing old school Vans or Chucks. While those shoes made me look cool at the concerts and what have you, my lower back would be killing me by the end of the day. Foot and knee pain too. I used to just deal with the pain. Well, I moved to a new city and I live without a car now so I walk 3-5 miles a day minimum, so I can't deal anymore. I wore these shoes for awhile and my pain totally went away in a week. Then I tried going back to some Adidas Sambas, and my body was hurting all over within a couple days again. So I've gone back for good to these NB MW 9777s and the pain has once again subsided. Truly magical shoes! I definitely recommend these shoes if you need topnotch support, comfort and durability. Plus, they don't have all the flashy colors and ugly designs like most of the other NBs have, so aren't half bad looking. And of course Zappos service is always fantastic - I received my pair in a little over 24 hours.

Great Light Hiker - I bought these for a trip to Hawaii’s Volcano's National Park. They needed no break in and handled the sharp volcanic rock fine. Solid and stable, yet light enough to pack and not worry too much about going over the airline's weight limit. I'd recommend for pretty much any kind of dayhiking on or off trail.

Great boots! These are my second pair of New Balance hiking boots, and they feature all of the comfort and features that I came to love in my first pair. The MW977s are more supportive than my last pair, thanks to the leather uppers, but still have the easy, ready to wear fit that I've come to expect from all New Balance shoes.

Excellent for jeans/trails/rainy weather - I've been wearing New Balance athletic shoes exclusively for years. I'm 6' 9", 250, size 14D, and need shoes that can support me properly. These do so and look great at the same time. The shoes have a nice balance of dark brown tones (no funky accent colors like some other shoes of this type) and look like you paid what you did for them. The fit was perfect when I first put them on. I bought these shoes for the occasional rainy day, so I don't destroy my nice leather shoes or soak my sneakers... no rain here yet, so I haven't tested their waterproof-ness. I also wanted a shoe I could wear that would look good with jeans or shorts and not have to worry about getting them dirty (like I do with my white shoes) if I walk on dirt. They are substantial enough to not look like a brown slipper or dress shoe, but low-cut enough to not look like a heavy boot. Very suitable for wear with jeans or shorts and extremely comfortable out of the box. I've never had to return a pair of NB shoes for any reason and they have a long wear life.

Best work boot ever owned - I work in Hollywood for the movie studios as a set painter; we are on our feet for almost 12 hours a day 5-6 (sometimes 7) days a week. I wear a 4-E wide with orthotics. I used to wear Dunham "Cloud Nine" boots; I thought the "Cloud 9" boots were the best. Dunham discontinued the Clouds and I panicked! I shopped for hours until I read all the positive remarks about the New Balance MW977. The New Balance are the best work boots hands down. They are wide enough for my pinky toe and the one next to it!!! They are light weight and they feel like I'm not even wearing work boots!! They are a bit pricey; however, with all those hours on my feet at the end of the day my feet feel great!!! Zappos has a great exchange policy. I ordered the shoes on a Saturday afternoon and had the shoes on my doorstep Monday evening!!! Bravo, Zappos and New Balance!!!

Comfortable, sturdy, and capable hiking shoes. Bought these two weeks before a weekend hike at Old Rag Mountain and Sky Meadows State Park in Virginia. They felt good out of the box and required little break-in, as evidenced by getting *NO BLISTERS* after more than 16 miles of strenuous hiking and rock scrambling in 95 degree heat. That alone will prompt me to buy a second pair. I love these shoes!!! There were no rub points significant enough to cause blisters or discomfort, though I did have to excise one piece of errant stitching from the heel that was starting to rub. Best hiking shoes I've owned, preferable to my old Montrails.

2nd pair - I lost the first pair and bought a second because I liked them so much. I have wide feet and it is hard to find shoes that fit well and provide good support. You can also put orthotics in these for an even more custom fit. Compared with the NB model these replaced - has a rock plate, tongue is not waterproof, and the EE width was narrower slightly (had to change to 4E). Pros: comfortable, durable, waterproof, available in different widths. Cons: warm (due to waterproof), but still breathable. I can still wear them in the Texas summer, but it may bother some.

Very Happy - These shoes are very comfortable, I wear them daily at work... had been experiencing knee & hip pain prior to wearing these shoes... With in 2 weeks I'm almost pain free.

Great Shoe! I love these shoes, the only problem I have had is that as they are waterproof, and my feet sweat a lot. My feet tend to get a little hot, but not as bad as with my other shoes I have had. I chose these because I liked the plain, leather look and they do look just like the picture. They are a good quality shoe. Thanks Zappos.

New Balance MW977 - Because of the width of my feet I am unable to buy hiking boots that fit. I use NB 4E running shoes, so I tried these for a hike. The results were excellent. I had no discomfort on a 3 day hike on corridor trails in the Grand Canyon with a 20lb pack. The shoes had enough volume to fit full length orthotics. They provided reasonable ankle support. I recommend them to anyone with wide/high volume feet. How good they will be with different kinds of feet I don't know, but they do seem well made and should withstand a fair bit of use.

Best hiking shoe I've owned - Incredibly comfortable and supportive and water resistant. Plus $100 less than a comparable pair of Birkenstocks I've owned and beats the Birki’s cold. I highly recommend them!

I hiked the Inca trail to Macchu Pichu in these boots. Excellent support and comfort.

Great shoe - So good I ordered another pair - I walk every morning in all kinds of weather. I need wide (at least EEE) rugged shoes. These fit the bill. Forget about finding my size shoes in a store - I rely on Zappos.

Excellent hiker - Excellent fit and support. It is my favorite walking and hiking shoe. Also an excellent street shoe that will stand up to rain and snow.
